Ladies and gentleman, we have a season 3 premiere date!
NBC has announced that Chuck will return on Sunday, Jan. 10 with two back-to-back episodes before moving into its regular Monday-8 pm time-slot on Jan. 11.
Or to put it in Fox terms, it’s a two-night, three-hour, premiere extravaganza!
Chuck’s confirmed list of season 3 series regulars, per NBC’s press release, are Zachary Levi (Chuck), Adam Baldwin (Casey), Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah), Joshua Gomez (Morgan), Sarah Lancaster (Ellie), Ryan McPartlin (Captain Awesome), Mark Christopher Lawrence (Big Mike), Vik Sahay (Lester), and Scott Krinsky (Jeff). So long, Anna Wu.
As I reported last month, Chuck’s third season has been expanded from 13 to 19 episodes.
NBC also announced that Heroes will move back to 9 pm beginning Jan. 11. But first, a special two-hour episode will air on Jan. 4. Additionally, a Peacock rep confirms that the network ordered three additional episodes of Trauma, bringing its season 1 total to 16. Ten of those six episodes will have aired before the new year; dates for the remaining six eppys are TBD.
But enough about that, Chuck’s returning in less than two months (just as I predicted)! Who wants to meet me at Subway tonight to celebrate? First round of $5 foot-longs on me! Oh, almost forgot to tell you. NBC.com just posted a special message from Zach Levi as well as clips from the new season. Watch it and then head to Subway.

Best news!
Your kidding!
*happy dance*
Sunday? Better not be at 8 CT.
Sunday?! Weird. But YAY!
Sweet!!!
Great news!! Have a Subway sandwich!!
So if I understand you correctly, there will be back to back episodes on Sunday, then another new episode on Monday? If so, that would be the best week ever.
This is like the way that 24 has kicked off its premieres for the past several years — 2 hour premiere on Sunday, first new episode one night later in its regular slot on Mondays. I wonder if that’s the same week that 24 premieres.

YES!!!!!! That just made my whole day.
YES!!! and 3 episodes in 2 days? HECK YESS!!!!!
im so excited!!
yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! best news ever
so they are going to burn off 3 episodes in 2 days?
well it was good while it lasted burning off 3 episode in 2 nights is not a good sign…sigh
Actually, not true. NBC has the Olympic games that (as of scheduling right now) seem to not be airing 17 times from January 11th until the end of the season in May. Meaning that the Olympic games are only going to air on Mondays in 2010 from Jan-May about 3 times or so, this scheduling just makes sense so that Chuck doesn’t air in June.
And I forgot to mention that they probably could’ve had a one-night event but not with Jay Leno at 10pm and this also helps create hype since Chuck will have been off the air for about 7 months or so.
I disagree–a run of 19 episodes with no breaks would mean that the show would end in mid-to-late May. However, there will be two weeks of the Olympics that will preempt NBC programming, so Chuck has some extra episodes to squeeze in if they want to end their shows around the “usual” time. We shouldn’t have to deal with reruns, either.
