Further proof that Castle is growing into something of a hit: The guest stars are getting more recognizable!
Ex-Charmed sorceress Alyssa Milano has signed on to play a former love interest of Nathan Fillion’s title character, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Here’s the sitch: Castle reconnects with Kyra (Milano) on her wedding day and sparks fly. Beckett (Stana Katic) picks up on the obvious connection between the two of them, setting up a fun little love triangle.
Milano’s episode, titled “A Rose for Everafter,” shoots next week and will air in early 2010.
Castle recently received a full-season pickup from ABC.

First off, LOVE THIS SHOW! I’m so glad its doing well and is finally getting some recognition. I enjoy Alyssa Milano and look forward to her with Fillion. The fact that it sparks a little jealousy in Beckett is an added bonus!

OMG! I love this show! Nathan is such a FUNNY guy! I’ve followed him from One Life to Live up until now! It’s SO nice to see him FINALLY making it!
Yeah, not that excited about adding Milano to the mix. I’m pretty happy with Castle as it is, and my last experience with Milano was her guest spot on “My Name Is Earl”… right before the show got axed.
And by “right before,” you mean that it ran for another entire season before getting cancelled, right?
I really disliked most of what they were doing with the show during the time she was on it, but your chronology is wrong.

Like the fact it will make Beckett jealous, not thrilled with the choice of actress…but maybe that has to do with ME being jealous

Love him, love the show. I can always count on it to make me laugh at the end of a long Monday!
It’s always a good thing when your titular character is one of the most likable ones… A lesson “Heroes” hopefully learns sometime soon.
One of my favourite shows this season and Fillion is amazing! His partner in love and crime is a bit dour though. So this pairing with Milano might stir things up

I don’t have anything against Milano, and I liked Charmed, but this sounds like stunt casting. I’ll be watching no matter what, though, and hoping that Milano nails the role.

I watched 2 early episodes… ugh were they hard to sit though, and can’t blame the actors with such poor writing, directing. I wanted to like it, maybe I’ll check out the newer episodes and see if they’ve ironed out those horrible wrinkles.
Definitely check it out again. I know what you mean about the beginning episodes, but Castle has gotten better and better with each new episode!
I agree. I did NOT watch all of last season, maybe the last 2 eposides, that did catch my attention but didn’t think I would come back and watch this season, I caught an episode about a month ago and now I am hooked! It has gotten better, maybe they have different writers, I don’t know, but this is one show I didn’t want to like but did!
Best scene in any show this year was the Halloween ep where they paid homage to “Firefly.” I laughed and then I cried. Man, I still miss that show.
I agree! I loved that scene. Especially when Nathan was defending his costume choice to his daughter. “But I like it!” Awesome. Firefly was the best.
Agreed. Capt Mal Reynolds “return” was awesome. Shame it only lasted about 15 seconds.
Oh I miss Firefly, I’m watching it right now! Can’t say the same with Jen for Atlantis, that show started off great but in season 3 they started getting weird, when they got rid of Dr. Weir and then Joseph Malozzi wrote that awful letter to the fans I said goodbye and have never looked back.
I will always mourn the loss of Firefly. Loved seeing another 60 seconds of it on this show. I also think this show gets better each week.
ah, completely agree. i totally screamed when “Mal” came out for those 15 secs. I wonder whose idea was it – Nathan’s or the writers? I love his new series. And hopefully V takes off and Morena gets some recognition. I’ve also missed her. I was so pissed when scifi canceled Atlantis. I was really liking Jewel Staite’s Jennifer. *sigh* that’s what I get for watching scifi. that damn station has a habit of canceling some of the best series – atlantis and farscape come to mind…
I missed about half the Halloween ep — didn’t notice till then that the vcr wasn’t taping (yes, I still have one of those … )so I missed the Mal moment. Have to hope for reruns. I MISS FIREFLY!!!
This show always has a way of throwing in something fun and new. I can’t wait for the episodes with Alyssa to air, I’m quite excited. =]

Alyssa Milano? What, whas Lindsay Lohan unavailable? Somehow I always thought Castle would favor women with class, warmth and a strong intellectual sense of humor. Milano found her niche as the Long Island Lolita and Billie on “Earl.” Even on “Charmed,” she was usually upstaged by her trashy outfits. I wouldn’t buy this relationship for even one second, no matter how hard Fillion acts his heart out to sell it. Some things are just beyond the realm of possibilities. Sorry. And blech.

Alyssa Milano is a talented actress. With 8 seasons each of Who’s The Boss and Charmed and a successful run on the first Melrose Place her record cannot be denied. She has proven in her previous roles that she has humor and comic timing. She has been smart enough to stay in demand and working for 20 years in a business that will chew you up and spit you out. She has fought to protect celebrity images on the internet, worked for charities like UNICEF and consistantly talks about the family bonds and values that she was brought up with. Nobody’s perfect but some people sure are judgemental.
I agree with you Lucky…..she is a very talented actress and have followed her since her days on “Who’s the Boss”….your also right on stating that no one is perfect in this world and you also can’t believe all that you read in the tabloids. Most people should be looking in their own closests before casting stone. She’s an excellent actress and I can’t wait to see the episode with Nathan Fillion. So far one of the best shows of the season!
Fine with peoples tastes- but I’m not sure why this sticks out to me so strongly. The Long Island Lolita comment for Milano? Hasn’t she been allowed to move on from a career move so far in her past? She is (atleast of part) Italian heritage. Being of Italian descent myself, it just stands out a little harshly to me. I’ve seen other comments reflecting trashiness applied to her and sometimes get the sense that her ethnicity is the catalyst far more than her career choices. As I recall, many actresses wanted the role and Drew Barrymore also played the part. Though I don’t see that part used to describe her anymore. Surely, through her lengthy part on Charmed and other various TV film projects she has established herself beyond that role. If I’m wrong then I apologize.

I love the idea but I don’t love the casting.
Since “Eastwick” is done for and Rick Castle likes redheads, ABC should of brought in Jaime Ray Newman for the part.
Now THERE is someone to make Beckett Jealous.
But at least Jaime Ray Newman can go back to her main gig on Eureka, hopefully. However, if Colin Ferguson had appeared on Castle too, that would be just as god.
I much prefer Jamie Ray Newman as Carter’s ’ship on Eureka. Sadly, I think she’s only there to stall the Alison/Carter ship. That’s why they got rid of Nathan too.
I love Jamie on Eureka. I want her with Carter so bad.
Amen to Carter/Tess rather than Carter/Alison… never actually liked Alison in the first place but loved Tess/Jamie (didn’t like Eastwick tho)

I love this show!!!! I actually just finished a mini-marathon of the last 5 episodes (it’s on way too late for me so I DVR it every week) and every episode was better then the one before! I can’t wait to see Alyssa on this as I’ve been a huge fan of hers for years! It will be nice to see Beckett jealous! So glad it was picked up for another year, hopefully it’ll be around for a while. It’s one of the few shows my husband and I agree on.
I love this show and Nathan/Castle is SO sexy! I like Beckett better with shorter hair. Not a big Milanno fan but I’ll still watch and see what happens
I like Milano, she has chutzpah. She’ll play well against Castle. Hope she does get her own show.
Ugh. Milano is in neither Fillion’s nor Katic’s league. I think the show’s got to adopt the “Mark Harmon on Moonlighting Rule” — which is “In order to create a believable romantic triangle involving the two star-crossed lead characters on a given show, the show MUST cast someone with at the very least the same amount of talent as and ridiculously amazing chemistry with the show’s romantic leads. Example: Mark Harmon cast as Maddy Hayes’s romantic interest/complication for the defining centerpiece arc on Moonlighting.” Milano certainly lacks chemistry with, well, pretty much everybody and she most definitely doesn’t have even a tenth of the talent of either Fillion or Katic. And FTR, I think that Katic is quite good and very promising, but not great *yet.*
