The early 2010 Grey’s/Private Practice crossover I told you about last week will find the doctor formerly known as McSteamy spending some quality time with his currently single ex, Addison. “They’ve both really grown up since they were together, and most of the animosity that they had is gone,” says Shonda Rhimes, executive producer of both shows. “Now they’re friends, but they may end up falling back into their old patterns while they’re together.”
But wait, there’s more (so keep those paddles handy). As you know, the reason Mark pages Addison to Seattle Grace (and what prompts him to visit her in L.A. in the second hour of the crossover) is that he needs her to perform surgery on a woman from his past (played by Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles alum Leven Rambin, who first airs on Nov. 19). But here’s where the plot thickens: One possibly-true rumor making the rounds is that the woman — make that girl — is Mark’s daughter! And she’s pregnant!
Rhimes isn’t commenting on the Papa McSteamy buzz, but she does acknowledge that Rambin’s character represents a “new obstacle for [Mark and Lexie]… I’m not sure it’s the kind of obstacle people are expecting, but it’s definitely a new one. I’m not sure they’ll stick together through it.”
Okay, you can go ahead and use those paddles now.

UGH. Shonda’s unsure statement makes me so anxious/nervous. Will they or won’t they stick through? Mark and Lexie are my favorite!
I like these two together. I’m thinking the whole – I have a daughter’ shouldn’t be such a big obstacle unless he gets tight again with her mother. If my husband had a previous relationship (long before me) and it produced a child, I would WANT him to get to know the child and would be willing to accept that new responsibility. Lexie’s got a big heart so I can’t imagine her being cold to this scenario (especially given the whole mess between Meredith and their dad). Shonda’s going to have to work harder to help us understand what kind of obstacle this is.
At first i wasn’t on board with the whole Mark adn Lexie thing and now I love them together. I don’t want to see Addison come in between another Grey’s relationship. But I do also love Addison and I hope her character finds a great guy, just not Mark or Derrick.

Could not agree with you more! I will never understand how this show lasted. I stopped watching with Meredith was chosen to surgically remove the bomb, and then the bomb dude walked it out (without a helmut, of course) and it blew up in the hospital. How stupid was that? I watch the last 30 seconds or so at the end just to rip on it to all my friends who still watch it. The writing/dialogue is AWFUL!
if you don’t like the show then why do you read an article about and then put it down. just leave it and the people that can enjoy the show alone instead of infecting us with your negativism!

I never bought that an absurdly handsome doctor like Mark would be interested in someone like Lexie. The character is childish and the actress who plays her is rather quite – plain.

Honestly, Season 5 got me sucked back into the Grey’s Anatomy fandom because of those two. Totally called it in the Season 5 premiere.
At first, this whole issue with Riley did get interesting, but with Addison in the picture, now it’s gotten me worried.
I love Mark and Lexie together. Really, all those that don’t like them is (list list list, etc.). Ugh, i can’t think of how I will react when they will permanently end. Won’t work. This past season has been me on a Mark/Lexie-loving stage.

Shonda Rimes says that kind of crap to keep everyone guessing. It is all a scheme to suck people in and build ratings…she knows EXACTLY what will happen. I love the show and will watch it always!

Kate Walsh and Addison are the only reason PP is still on air. Without Addison and Kate Walsh’s name (and the fact she does all the promo) it would have been axed after Season 1.

Hey Mike: I’m 33 and I ADORE Mark/Lexie together!! I don’t consider “Lexie” a role model for “bagging” the hot older man. For the record, it’s the 21st Century and the age difference isn’t that big. And, I happen to have a real life in the real world. I enjoy Mark/Lexie because they are sweet & wonderful together. They have mad chemistry & actually manage to maintain an ADULT, MATURE relationship—which given the fact it’s Grey’s is a miracle!!
I only watch Private Practice but I will watch Grey’s for Kate Walsh. I loved Addison and Mark. They were amazing together.

Grandpa McSteamy?? It’s scary enough that he’s probably going to have a surprise child (which, to be honest, isn’t that surprising considering his past), but a surprise GRANDCHILD!! I could see that being more of an issue for Lexie and Mark than his child.
That being said, hopefully this will just be a minor setback for them, because they are one of my FAVOURITE Grey’s couples!! I’m not sure what it is about them, but I think Mark and Lexie are adorable together!!!

I love how everyone freaks out about Mark and Lexie having a 15 year age gap. Maybe I feel defensive of them because I’m in my mid-twenties and in a long-term relationship with someone close to Mark’s age.
