Thirsty for some Vampire Diaries scoop? Former Reunion eye candy Sean Faris is sinking his teeth into a juicy multi-episode arc on the fangtastic CW hit, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Faris will play Ben, an ex-high school football star-turned-bartender at the Mystic Grill. “He’s Matt’s buddy,” says a Vampire insider. “He gets entangled in the group when a broke Matt takes a job at the Mystic Grill.”
The Vamp source also hints at a possible romance between Ben and one of the show’s females. But which one? Let the speculation begin in the comments!

Seems a bit old for Caroline. My guess would be the aunt. Her only other love interest was eaten by Damon and Vicki.
He’s got to be younger than Damon. (However old he’s supposed to be to the real world).
I don’t know why but even after the last Thursday’s episode, I don’t think Matt as a love interest for Caroline. Just can’t see this happening. I hope they stay just friends, nothing more.
Totally agree Lily! Matt needs to become a werewolf but NO to a relationship with Caroline – I don’t find her character sympathetic at all. Too bad Damon didn’t have her for dinner.

Why is there always a werewolf in these vampire novels? That kind of bugs me. First, Sookie Stackhouse novels, then Vampire Diaries and now Twilight. What is that about? Let me guess, the werewolf will be the vampire’s rival. So played.

I think “Ben” should be a gay character. Sean Faris is hot, and I want to see him steam up the screen with Damon. Damon TOTALLY seems like the sexually open type. Let him play with the boys! Make it happen, writers. More homoeroticism.

I had to sit through the film “Never Back Down” to see him and Cam Gigandet duke it out shirtless, and it was so worth sitting through the crappy plotline and writing … this is the best casting news ever!!

I’m thinking maybe a wrench in the Elena/Stefan game. It looks like we’re being set up for Matt to be with Caroline, or maybe even Bonnie, though I think Caroline will inevitably end up tangoing with Damon once again. That leaves Elena, and the episode summaries on Wikipedia hint at someone coming in between Elena and Stefan.
I hope he’s for Bonnie (it’s a bit unrealistic that no one has fallen for her, she’s absolutely gorgeous) but then again, does everyone on the show need a love interest?
I like that Bonnie is doing her own thing. The last thing she needs is just define herself through what kind of man she can land.

I would definitely be all for this. Bonnie is gorgeous, sweet and considerate and just as deserving as some romantic play time as the rest of the girls. I’d love to see this be a temporary thing until Bonnie and Damon FINALLY get together because well, the chemistry between IS and KG is amazing!
