My dream Chuck scenario is starting to take shape!
Sources confirm that NBC has ordered six additional episodes of Chuck. That’s on top of the 13 eps the network previously ordered, bringing the show’s season 3 total to 19 (just three shy of what’s considered a full season).
The news — first reported by The Wrap’s Joe Adalian — follows my earlier scoop that NBC is considering bringing Chuck back before March.
It’s all coming together!

Chuck Me! That’s awesome!
Sexual.
Woo! And may I add, Hoo! Good news for someone fresh home from her own “Buymoria” hell.
Oh wheee!
yes, yes, yes, yes!!!!!!! im so excited except instead of January make it November and instead of Monday make it like Wednesday. i think chuck would do much better in the ratings on wednesdays rather than monday.
I totally agree!
No, Chuck would not do well competing against ABC’s Wednesday Comedy line-up. Put Chuck on Tuesdays.
Tuesdays would be great, but not against NCIS.
“I don’t see it going up against Supernatural (McG’s other show)
It already goes up against creator Josh Schwartz’s other show, Gossip Girl.
I agree with the Tuesday night plan. Or even Fridays. I don’t watch any network shows. USA – Monk, Psych, White Collar.
As long as they don’t try to put Chuck on Thursdays! There is too much to watch already!
I don’t see it going up against Supernatural (McG’s other show), that would just be stupid.
Awesome news!!
BEST NEWS EVER!!!!!
YESSSS!!!!

im beyond happy right now!1
This is fantastic! I hope NBC realizes that they have few quality shows and this is one of the few that is worth investing in! I don’t want to push my luck, but a good ad campaign would help too…
I think they started realizing that when Chuck outperformed the rest of NBC’s lineup without being aired.
I love this comment and it’s so true.
Good response. I too am excited.
They need to promote the show.
I do self promotion via my FB
Its such a good show. Let’s hope for November/December return.
It would be a fine Christmas present
Even if they don’t come back early, the extra eps alone are enough to make a VERY HAPPY FAN.
It’s my post-Christmas present! Awesome news indeed!
This is AMAZING!! I miss Chuck so much, can’t wait for the new season. =)
I miss Chuck too; yippee!!!!
I was happy when modern family was given a full season order, now i’m so happy i may pee myself.
AWESOME!
!!!!!
Best news ever!!
please?!!
What I think they are going to do is run Chuck from March- June.
What fantastic news. Can’t wait for the return of Chuck!
So “close to” meaning – “haven’t actually done anything”
Hey, a lot of Ausiello’s rumors pan out, and it’s certainly cool to hear it brewing.
I don’t know why people are excited about these extended pick ups. Chuck, like almost every NBC show, would work better with a tight 13 episode order and not a bloated 22 (or in this case 19).
You’re in the minority with that one. I’d say about 95% of Chuck fans are ecstatic about the extra 6 episodes.
13 episodes isn’t enough. YOu need time to build up the show, plus they are so good, why would you only want 13.
Email your NBC affiliates. That has a big impact. Let them know you love CHUCK
The show runners are not changing the original story line. The extra season will be 3.5 per Chuck writers. Nothing is changing. No filler episodes.
Well, Chuck is not like most NBC shows (because most of them suck and deserve the axe – starting with Leno). More Chuck is more hours of NBC that I’ll watch (which is up from just over zero now).
What Tarc said. With Chuck, the more the merrier!
Ditto! More Chuck is always win!
Oh, I hope this is true. “Chuck” is my favorite television program, and I have been waiting for it’s return on NBC with a great deal of hope and disappointment in the delay.
I agree. Chuck is one of my favorite TV programs–along with Lost, FlashForward and Mad Men.
SO EXCITED! But what happened to them possibly airing it in October? Month’s almost over. I tried not to get my hopes up, but there they are anyway.
Such good news! I’d celebrate by buying s2 dvd if NBC would get around to releasing it…
It is being released Jan 05, 2010.
Thanks, why after Christmas? I was going to buy it as a gift for my son.
The release date is probably timed to be close to the debut of S3, to boost the numbers. If you’re upset, blame Warner Bros., not NBC, they release the DVDs/Blu-Rays.
Have mercy… this idiotic show is still on the air? why so many epis?
Ginger, Chuck is the kind of show that is similar to Charlie’s Angels.
Chuck is NOTHING like Charlie’s Angels. Chuck is funny, suspenceful, and VERY original.
I think you didn’t really meant to comment, as it seems you don’t like the show. Feel free to go somewhere else.
Why? Because the show rocks. Why are you confused? You seem to be rather confused.
Ginger – I understand how your limited and pathetic intellect would reject a fantastic show like Chuck. Feel free to go back to watching Biggest Loser.
Oh Tarc and Phalange, thank you for setting that moron Ginger straight. I love me some Chuck, and can’t wait for it to come back.
Now, now. Let’s not hate on poor poor Ginger. She is a lost soul that needs saving. You can’t convert the unknowing with not niceness (yeah, I made up my own phrase there). Let’s all pat her on the head and invite her to actually sit through a whole episode (which I doubt she has) and then maybe she’ll see the light.
WOO HOO!!!
Two wonderful surprises for “Chuck” fans today…the pending six additional episodes, and FINALLY, a release date for the Season 2 box set (Jan 19, 2010)! YAY!
I read Jan. 5th. Either date is still so far off; it’s been too long!
So, Jill… Tell me, are you coming back next season?
Great news! I just hope Trauma doesn’t suffer for this – it’s pretty much the only new show that has any potential. Mercy can go though, it’s not exactly hit-bound, especially with all these other nurse shows.
Trauma exacped the axe this week by a hair (the last ep upticked just a touch). It got a three week reprieve to get some eyeballs. I’m betting it’s dead.
Sorry but Trauma got cancelled. It will only air 13, no back 9.
Trauma needs to go for being a 3rd Watch rip-off, and Mercy because its trying to be ER w/o the technical stuff! NBC has Nothign outside Thurs comedy, and Parks & Rec is and a slowly dying office are bring that down
Your post kinda petered out there. I assume you were ending with a bash against Parks and Recs (which I feel has become great this year) and Office, but I’m not completely sure on that.
Awesome news!!!
YAY!!!!
