This just in: An ABC rep confirms that the network has extended full-season orders to freshman comedies Modern Family, Cougar Town, and The Middle.
Despite experiencing some slippage last night, all three shows have performed solidly in the ratings. Creatively speaking, they’re firing on all cylinders — particularly Modern Family, which continues to live up to all my the hype.
No word yet on back-nine pickups for fellow newbies FlashForward, Hank, Eastwick, and The Forgotten.

Loove Modern Family, so happy about that. Cougar Town could be good if they toned it down just slightly.
I couldn’t agree with you more. It seems a little over the top…especially Courtney’s acting.
Cougar Town is HI-larious. Kinda racy for primetime tv. And that’s exactly why I love it! Hank is gonna get canceled!

Haven’t watched “The Middle,” but I love both “Modern Family” and “Cougar Town.” I can’t believe my three favorite new shows (including “Glee”) all air at the same time!

Hank The Forgotten will be axed…Eastwick im guessing will get either post DH time Lost or post Grey’s timeslot since it fits ABC well and im surprised FlashForward hasnt been picked up yet

Too bad the post-DH slot is filled by Brothers and Sisters and the post-Grey’s slot is filled by Private Practice…both of which get great ratings. Not sure where Eastwick will go when Lost comes back.
I’m not crazy about Cougar Town but I’ve laughed out loud at both Modern Family and The Middle.

Agree: Pushing Daisies was too good for ABC. Too smart, too visually captivating, too well-written and performed.
Not a fan of any of those shows. I was really looking forward to Modern Family, but it’s kinda blah and slow.
LOVE Modern Family and Cougar Town. I wish though that they’d replace Courtenay Cox’s blonde sidekick with Christina Applegate. So glad they’re continuing!!!

THRILLED that The Middle was renewed!! Without the poor lead-in of Hank, I’m sure the show will do really well.
I love Modern Family! The Middle is surprisingly great as well.
I say they rebuild the night midseason with Modern Family kicking off at 8:00 followed by fellow family comedy The Middle, and then Cougar Town and fellow femme-centric newbie Romantically Challenged which is waiting in the wings.
I also heard Southland was CANCELED. Is that a sick joke or what??

It got cancelled before it even began. Apparently, NBC thinks its too graphic for 9pm and it can’t put it at 10 because Jay Leno is occupying that time slot! How stupid is that? NBC is a joke.

I love Modern Family and Cougar Town so three cheers!!!! But I love FlashFoward and Eastwick. FlashFoward is mysterious and my new Scifi show after Heroes went downhill (btw love the deaf girl) and Eastwick is great fun.

Out of all the un-renewed, the only one I bother with is FlashForward, but that show is already trying my patience after two episodes.
Okay, at least the news of “Modern Family” getting picked up for a full season has made me a happy camper. Esp after I just read that NBC (stupidly) cancelled “Southland” after ordering episodes for a new season. And it hasn’t even AIRED! Ugh.

“Eastwick” is my fave from ABC this yea, and “FlashForward” – sitcom, “Modern Family” is hilarious.
Outstanding, that the three best comedies on that network all got renewed on the same day and they continue to deliver great demo numbers and solid ratings. Last night all three were outrageously funny. The Middle may wind up being the best of the three.
Abc should order a full season of Castle the greatest show on ABC instead of these newbies.

I love Modern Family and Cougar Town, so I’m glad they got the pickups. I just wish that Better Off Ted would get the same treatment and hype from ABC, since it is one of the best comedies on TV, even better than all of these shows.
