Exclusive: 'Criminal Minds' nabs Gavin Rossdale

Gavin-Rossdale_lHere’s an unusual combination: Gavin Rossdale and Criminal Minds. But the two shall meet this November when the British rocker and sometime-thespian guest stars on the CBS procedural.

Rossdale will play a Goth rock star who may or may not be moonlighting as — what else? — a brutal serial killer.

Rossdale’s previous acting work has mostly been limited to the big screen. In addition to co-starring in the 2007 Nick Stahl-Erika Christensen heist flick How to Rob a Bank, Gwen Stefani’s other half has appeared in Zoolander, Constantine, and The Mayor of Sunset Strip.

Thoughts?

Aww, i hope he’s not too bad in the episode that i start cringing every time i see him with his sons…

  • Angela

Never heard of the guy, so no opinion about him. Not sure what to think of the whole goth rock star angle, but since they’ve done a show about pickup artists without coming off flashy or gimmicky, lets just hope this is the same.

    • Patrick

He was the lead singer of Bush; he is now married to Gwen Stefani of No Doubt.

    • Alicia

You know his songs, Glycerine, Machinehead, Comedown, Chemicals Between Us, Letting the Cables Sleep, (and most recent) Love Remains the Same…… great voice, great looks!!!!

  • Bridget

I loved him in The Matrix and Constantine

    • tina

when was he in the matrix, never heard that.

    • Melissa

      He’s not Keanu Reeves.

      • Shelley

Maybe not, but he was in Constantine.

      • Alicia

        No, but he looks better………

  • 8Mile

That’s very cool …….should liven the show up some…….

  • mammamac

His eyes look evil enough. haha

  • websnap

    Isn’t he Australian?

    • Alicia

      He’s English. A sexy English-man!!

  • aa

criminal minds always does interesting things w/guests – wil wheaton, jamie kennedy, dawson, alex o’loughlin- so gavin should be no exception. plus he was pretty good in constantine.

  • liz

He is British. I may actually watch that show to see that episode

    • tina

the only time i will or have as well.

      • Suze

Ditto, Love me some Gavin Rossdale… mmm

  • Jen

Hot damn! I will definitely be watching this episode, I’ve had a crush on him since he was in Bush.

  • jfan

CriMi has done truly awesome things with guests that you normally wouldn’t peg for serial killers. Jamie Kennedy, Wil Wheaton, James Van Der Beek, and Jason Alexander to name a few. I trust that they’ll make Rossdale’s ep spectacular.

  • danielabambina

As if I wasn’t excited enough about new episodes of this show

  • carole

    HOT!!!

  • katiebabs

    I think I just swooned.

  • nic

Never seen this show before, but will totally check it out for Gavin, thanks for the scoop!

  • Andi

HAhaha! I can’t believe I guessed right! When I saw your tweet I didn’t even stop to consider I just thought, CM. That’s hilarious!

We’ll see how it works, I’m pretty wary but I trust CM.

  • Sara

I really liked him in Constantine. The scene in the liquor store alone makes me think he’d play an awesome serial killer.

  • Raymund

i really don’t care. this tv show should have been cancelled by now. I don’t know why lots of people watch this.

    • Bex

I don’t know why people who don’t watch a show read an article about it, let alone post a comment. Just move on if it’s not your thing

      • kfa1217

Yea, agreed….if the show isn’t to your liking, why post an ugly comment about it? I personally cannot wait to see this ep…love Gavin!

      • Andi

Besides that, Criminal Minds manages to make cliched procedural drama interesting thanks to sharp writing and great characters (Hello, Dr. Spencer Reid!). So that’s why we watch it, thanks. Also, let me just add that these are the folks who were brilliant enough to cast Jane Lynch as Reid’s mom… fantastic!

  • Platy

Ooh, I used to have a crush on him. This’ll be interesting to watch. Didn’t know he was a sometimes-actor.

  • Spider

Cool choice. That’s inspired casting. I remember Rossdale from the Keanu Reeves flick “Constantine”. He played Balthazar.

  • tina

thank god, i love seeing gavin everywhere again. when’s it on? hopefully not a monday or late work night, don’t want to miss it.

  • Leah

I’ll be watching with baited breath, but only for the scenes featuring the golden-souled MGG.

  • Becky

Thanks for the scoop. Please keep the Criminal Minds scoops coming; you don’t mention the show as much as other & right now this is the only show on TV that I will NOT miss.

  • Shelley

I don’t normally watch the show, but I will try to catch this episode.

  • WRF

I LOVE GAVIN IN ANYTHING THAT HE DOES!!! HE IS TRULY AMAZING!

  • Jane B.

He did a great job in How to Rob a Bank and was excellent as Balthazar in Constantine. He wasn’t in the Matrix. Really looking forward to seeing him act again!

  • S.K.

    I absolutely agree with Jane B. :) ))

  • Alicia

he’ll do an awesome job on C.M. because he CAN act, not to mention he’s gorgeous to look at!!!!!!!!!

  • Carnivale Kidde

Gavin in Constantine: free, because I borrowed the movie.

Gavin dressed in a suit: Finger licking good.

Gavin telling Keanu /he/ is finger-licking good: priceless.

Seriously, Gavin is a great actor. He ought to consider making that his career. But I doubt he will. He seems attached to singing. He’s a great singer, too, but I think he has a better chance as an actor now. He’s ‘too old’ (I know, since when is 40-ish /old/) to be a rocker. Sucks. He’s good at it, mostly.
