Here’s your first look at the final phase of Fox’s slithery “Snakes on a Cane” marketing campaign for House’s sixth season. The caduceus-inspired image, which will be officially unveiled next Monday, was shot over the summer and, yes, those are real pythons canoodling Hugh Laurie. “I remember Hugh asking the snake wrangler if the snakes had names,” recalls exec producer Katie Jacobs. “He replied, ‘No, because they don’t come when you call.’” Does the artwork offer any hints about the upcoming season? “No real clues,” says Jacobs. “It’s irreverent. House is irreverent.” Not to mention fearless!

wait, they’re real snakes?? hahah. i like that he’s making the medicine symbol thing and i like the snakes but the wings seem kind weird to me…
Wings are actually part of the Cadeucus of Hermes/Mercury, the American and military symbol of the medical profession.
Which is the symbol of thieves and liars, which may be fine for American doctors. Medicine elsewhere employs a rod with just the one snake (and no wings).
Mercury/Hermes was also the protector of the dead, messenger of the gods, god of commerce and invention, and protector of travelers and merchants. So… your point? House is an American doctor, so the symbol of his profession, for whatever reason, includes wings. Which, basically, was the entire point of the original reply to Jenna V. However, as Everyone Lies, how appropriate for our Doctor House.
The snake body may be real, but obviously, the heads have been photoshopped to death (and not very well, they’re candidates for the Photoshop Disasters blog frankly)

Creepy as hell…kudos to Hugh. Snakes absolutely terrify me, I would have been in hysterics.
I don’t have a problem with some ones but huge ones like that I would of freaked. He is really brave to poise with two large snakes like that.
It’s not two snakes, it’s one snake body with two photoshopped heads. That being said, one snake is enough!

I love House & I really love me some Hugh Laurie, but I hate snakes more than anything. If I saw that picture on a billboard I’d probably have a wreck trying to divert my eyes. I hope that pic isn’t in any commercials. Talk about nightmares. Ugh

Maybe if they spent more time on writing and less on this garbage last season wouldn’t have been 90% garbage.
That’s kind of a moot point, since I’m sure the promo shooting was placed in the hands of a PR firm or Fox Studios; the show’s writing staff and producers most likely had very little, if anything, to do with it.
That being said, I agree with you wholeheartedly on one point: the last season really did suck 90% of the time.
Only Hugh Laurie could pull off a shoot like this. Yum.
