I had a feeling we hadn’t seen the last of this guy: Michael Weston is returning to House this fall as private eye Lucas Douglas, sources confirm to me exclusively.
We first met Lucas last fall when House hired him to tail his then-estranged BFF Wilson. After appearing in multiple episodes, the character abruptly disappeared without explanation. At the time, series creator David Shore said Lucas was brought in primarily to play off of House. “But once Wilson came back,” he added, “we didn’t dramatically have a need for him anymore.”
So what brings him back? A Fox rep declined to comment beyond confirming that Weston will appear in an episode that goes into production this week. Perhaps the PI becomes a patient? Or maybe House is finally getting down to the business of solving Kutner’s “murder”? I’m spitballing here people.
Weston’s return will no doubt trigger fresh speculation about the Lucas-centered spinoff that Shore and fellow exec producer Katie Jacobs had been toying with. The project never got off the ground, but Shore was quick to note that the decision not to move forward “had nothing to do with” Weston.
Happy to have Weston/Lucas back? Do you hope it’s for more than one episode? And what do you think brings him back? Sound off below!

YES! this is fantastic! I don’t care why he’s coming back, I’m just glad that he is!
I agree. I loved his character on House, he was a highlight in an otherwise pretty off season. And he was just brilliant this summer in an episode of Burn Notice — where it was funny that a actor named Michael Weston was starring opposite a fictional character named Michael Weston.
I love him, too! He’s great in everything he does, specifically Six Feet Under, but his scenes with House were HIGH-larious!
I agree. Weston makes a very interesting dynamic and played off beautifully against Laurie.
One can only hope this means good news for the spin-off. Even if it doesn’t, how cool would it be if Weston be as a recurring (or full-time) cast member. It could really open the show up to new areas. The last two seasons (finales excluded) have been a bit stale.
Awesome! I love Weston and can’t wait to see him back!
VERY happy to have Weston/Lucas back. Maybe that spin-off might happen yet…
Count me as thrilled that he’s back, whatever the capacity. He was a fresh character in a stale season. I was bothered by his abrupt disappearance but just a nip of expository dialogue and I’ll forgive all. I hope he can recur beyond a singular episode.
Cool, that’s a nice surprise, I liked the guy! And I like the theory about House wanting him to investigate on Kutner’s death, sounds like something House would do.
I really like Weston as a character actor, but I wasn’t entirely crazy about the Lucas character.
Maybe he’ll be House’s latest “voice of his subconscious” hallucination? Though I always hope for Amber in that role since I love Anne Dudek in anything she does.
you even liked anne dudek in white chicks? jk. i love her, too.
Ok, anything I’ve seen her in then. Oh, I feel so sorry for her now that I know that White Chicks is on her resume.
Yay! I will actually watch now! I like Lucas way more than any of the new characters. I thought he was a fabulous addition.
Happy? Try ecstatic! Love the character, love the actor. The more episodes he’ll be in, the better. It’ll be awesome to see him again.
I’m so excited! He’s one of the most hilarious characters on the show.
Yes! I love it! Weston/Lucas was/is amazing! Aaaa cant wait!
I actually enjoyed the interaction between House and the P.I. The P.I. pretty much figured House out without having years of tormented friendship between them, sort of like House and Wilson without all the angst.
I am happy to have Weston/Lucas back . . . I hope it’s for more than one episode. I really liked his character and the way he interacted (chemistry) with the other characters.
Love it! The PI guy was one of the highlights from last season. I especially liked his chemistry with Cuddy. Maybe he and Cuddy hook up? Looking forward to it!
It will be funny if House gets jelous but Cuddy belongs to House.
I loved him!! I don’t care if he gets with Cuddy or if anything happens, he is such a great character and actor!
I love Michael Weston! He is a great and underappreciated actor. I enjoyed to the play between him and the other actors. He seemed to click with all of them. I hope he comes back for more than just one show!
Hooray! I loved Lucas Douglas. It seemed for a moment like House might actually get a second friend. He seems important to House’s growth as a person.
I LOVE LUCAS!!
Awesome! Loved this guy. He was hilarious
I am totally psyched that he’s coming back. Because it’s about time! Something tells me that since House is in an insane asylum maybe he asks him to keep an eye out on everyone else for anything juicy that he could use in his favor. That or he might be a patient. But who cares, lets just hope that he comes back for a good long while!
That’s great news! He was the only interesting thing that happened on house last season. Let’s hope he’s back for more than one episode!
House or Burn Notice, I hope he gets to revisit both, Weston is talent to watch!
You’re joking, right?
hey yay
i’m kind of thrilled to have him back, he gave some sparkles to the show, hope we’ll see him more than once
I am also happy to hear this news. I really liked the character and I was sad to see the character go when Wilson returned. It was nice to have a fresh face and he wasn’t a doctor.
Love this guy!Glad he is back!
This guy, Lucas.., wasn´t he sentimentally interested in Cuddy?
Maybe that brings him back.
And it will be great!
YAY! Happy news! I loved this guy. House needs a new friend, so I hope he becomes a regular.
I loved him as Pvt. Dancer in “Scrubs” & it was a nice & welcome surprise to see him on “House” – i’m twice as sure to watch if i know he’ll show up!
all i ever think when i see that guy is Private Dancer(i love scrubs) that said, he was good on house, but skip his movie Pathology, that was horrible.
I’ll be watching for his episode. Lucas Douglas is one of the coolest nerd-PI’s I’ve ever encountered. [He does deserve his own series...]
