Damages has booked its first season 3 client: Campbell Scott is joining the cast as a series regular, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Truthfully, I don’t know if the former Six Degrees star is playing Patti’s new client, colleague, or arch nemesis. An FX insider tells me that producers are keeping details about Scott’s character — and the new season as a whole — very close to the vest.
Here are two things I do know for sure: Production resumes at the end of September and the third season is slated to debut in January.
Who do you think Campbell is playing? And does the Longtime Companion actor measure up to previous Damages VIPs Ted Danson. William Hurt, and Timothy Olyphant? Sound off below!

His intensity is more of a slow, steady burn in my opinion. I’m looking forward to seeing what he offers the series. (Since he was misused on Royal Pains.)
so what does that mean for his Royal Pains character?
Finally some damages news! My love for you grew 92846928 times bigger, Michael.
Will Campbell Scott be back on season 2 of Royal Pains? popculturecurmudgeon.com
Now this is one of the best shows on TV! It doesn’t matter what he does, the show will be great!
Been a fan of Campbell Scott since “Longtime Companion” and a fan of “Damages” since the first season. Great combination!
Knowing this show, Campbell will play Patti’s friend, client, co-worker, AND enemy in one episode. It makes the series fun to watch though.
Campbell Scott is aging gracefully.
William Hurt was a VIP? HAHA. His performance was so dull and lifeless. How about replacing him with a real VIP: Zeljko Ivanek.
I agree. One of the worst, phoned-in performances ever.
Word J. Ivanek is wonderful.
Isn’t that the truth! I was not happy last year to see they hired William Hurt for the season. His “acting” style never changes in anything he does.
Very exciting news. He is awesome. And how exactly was William Hurt an MVP on Damages? He sucked the life out of every scene he was in!
Mr. Scott is a really good actor with a low profile. I believe this will allow a much more enjoyable viewer experience because there will be fewer comparisions with previous characters he has played. I think this is an excellent choice for Damages.
(No, we’re not related or acquainted.)
Wow – Campbell Scott is soooo great. So underused in Royal Pains, he should be able to do both easily if he wants. Just watched The Spanish Prisoner…Dying Young is next…lol….
I wonder if he will be playing Ellen’s new boss?
I really like him on Royal Pains. I hope this doesn’t mean he is off that show.
LOVE Campbell Scott. Not a bad choice at all.
His storyline has made Royal Pains different from the actual ho-hum that the show could have been – hope this does nt mean that he won’t be back for Season 2…
He was fantastic (opposite the always good Hope Davis) in “The Secret Lives of Dentists.” Capable of making you feel real heartbreak. Seems like a good move!
I would guess that since Royal Pains new episodes don’t start until next summer, he’ll be able to do both.
Hopefully Season 3 will have more camera time for Arty Frobes !!
Those eyes would melt an iceberg–they’re bad for the environment!
My fave quote is from Singles, “I was nowhere near the neighborhood…”
Campbell Scott is an awesome choice for Damages. As much as I enjoy him on Royal Pains, he is an underrated and underutilized actor with an amazing range. Can’t wait to see him go head to head with Glenn Close. (Damages does an outstanding job of casting.)
I concur. I think this is an excellent casting decision. Scott is wonderful actor. I love Damages and am more excited for S3 with this announcement.
This is terrific news! Season 2 of Damages was really disappointing after Season 1 but I will tune in for Season 3 for Campbell Scott!
Looove CS! He would be a great arch nemesis!
I didn’t even know who he was until Royal Pains, and now I am a fan. I might have to check out Damages, which I haven’t seen before.
