Damn, I may have to give Kelsey Grammer’s painfully unfunny fall comedy Hank another shot.
Lauren Graham’s ex-Gilmore Girls BFF Melissa McCarthy — who just wrapped a two-year run as a member of Christina Applegate’s entourage on Samantha Who? — is joining the ABC sitcom on a recurring basis, sources confirm to me exclusively.
McCarthy is playing Dawn, the wife of David Koechner’s Grady and sister-in-law to Grammer’s Hank.
BTW, I heard much of the dreadful Hank pilot was reshot — another reason I’m keeping an open mind about the show.

Love her, but am still going to pass on the show. Kelsey is overrated and over paid.
I was going to watch anyway, so this just gives me another reason to watch it. I loved her on Gilmore Girls and Samantha Who.
I’m just gonna keep watching gilmore girls, ha ha. Watching the one where Rory tutors Jess. Yay!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE that episode! Season 2, episode 19, “Teach Me Tonight”, right?
yes! i LOVED rory with jess, i always thought dean was lame, haha. long live ‘gilmore girls’!
I love her and i wish her a happy birthday. I was wondering if her,Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel ever going to anything together again.
I’m glad to hear they’ve reshot the pilot. It was pretty hard to watch.
Hooray for my other favorite Sookie!
Yup! One of the most interesting, quirky, authentic characters on tv. An obviously larger woman with a complex and vivacious personality on a show for 7 years and weight was never an issue. Sookie was confident, sexy funny and talented. How often can you say that. Kind of the opposite of her character on SW which kind of irratated me even though I loved the show and still can’t figure out why it got canceled. She was growing in the end but mostly was a silly, insecure, stranger person, the total opposite of Sookie.
Melissa & David should just have their own show, period. I bet they’re terrific together.
Seriously…just give them a spinoff before Hank even airs! I have to think these two would be funnier than Kelsey Grammar again!
Egads, could you folks have picked out a worse picture of the woman?
Ramo, what’s the problem with that picture. I think she looks cute.
Really? She’s an attractive woman but I think it’s an incredibly un-flattering photo.
I wish Melissa a happy birthday, but I have no plans on watching the show.
After “Back to You”, I had not planned on watching any of “Hank”. I will give “Hank” a chance now, but only because of Melissa.
Good for her. Loved her on Gilmore girls. Glad to see her off and doing another show so quickly.
Yes, love her. Very happy to see her working!!
Ah! The original Sookie!
