This is batty! True Blood hit another ratings high on Sunday, surging to a best-ever 5.3 million viewers. That’s up 20 percent over last week’s record 4.5 million viewers. Bottom line: The show’s unstoppable! Here are three reasons why (four if you include the hunky interviewer).

I’m so glad that this show is continuing to grow. I am a little scared that the actors involved will eventually get sick of playing the same character and move on. I hope they all stay on and keep us fans happy!
I agree! This show is making LOADS of money on merchandise & DVD sales. I won’t be surprise that soon these actors will be demanding a ridiculous amount of money if HBO (or Alan Ball) wants them to stay on.
Actually, I’m not too worried about them asking for more money, but I am worried that since some of the actors have mostly a movie background they might get tired of returning to the same character so often.
They all signed 7 year contracts when they came on for the pilot, so the cast isn’t going anywhere. (Whether that means up to 7 seasons, or 7 total years of work I don’t know.)
I just caught up with True Blood, and it is my new favorite show. However, I don’t quite get the Eric craze…I’m definitely Team Bill.
Most of the team Eric folks (myself included) like that pairing because of the books.

Austin what it is, its that women love the bad boy decietful use and abuse man AKA eric and hate the loving caring bill. what we learn is; treat women like dog crap and they love you treat them nice and they’ll turn on you.
Bill is nice? *snorffle* I’d take Eric’s bad a$$ self anytime over Bill’s “niceness” if that’s what you call it.
@Austin: Read the books, all the way through book 9 and even if Eric doesn’t become your favorite vamp/suitor/whatever, you’ll understand why people like him.
True Blood is huge, so huge that it deserves its own EW recap…get what I’m saying EW?

Alexander Skarsgard has receive crital acclaim for his role on 2 HBO shows now, Generation Kill and True Blood. I’m sure HBO will want to keep him on their network in future projects. I doubt if any of the True Blood actors have any desire to leave the show when it’s hot, money isn’t what motivates good actors, it’s a good juicy role. They all have plenty of time inbetween seasons to do outside projects.
Glad to see the numbers are soaring, but the rating system is as archaic as Bill. There are about 25,000 seeds for this episode on Pirate Bay right now… so imagine the actual number of people watching this show.
Yea but advertisers and networks like HBO only want the numbers for shows that people are paying for or are watching their commercials, so the ratings system is just fine.
That’s true for just about any popular show. At least the ratings numbers are going up!

There is no doubt in my mind that the increased screentime of Askars has contributed to this increase. The chemistry between him and Anna is dynamite!
All of the actors and characters are charismatic and hot – the chemistry between any pairing is incredible!
I love that they are all friends in real life. The look Alex and Bill give each other is hilarious. I WISH Eric and Bill would get together — even as a dream! That would be so hot and show that vampires ARE sex…irrespective of gender pairing.

Gosh. Great writing, acting, set dressing, music, editing, and everything else really pays off. The broadcast networks could learn something, but they’re so mired in reality programming they’ll before extinct before they figure it out.
Being Human is soooo much better. It’s on BBC America.

Being Human is great, too, but it’s a completely different show, tone-wise. Hopefully True Blood-ers will find their way to that show, too.
Agree; Being Human is different from True Blood on many ways, but I as a TB fan (and many others, I’ve heard) found it very engaging as well. I recommend TB fans giving it a try. The only thing that bothered me was that two key actors out of three were changed after the pilot. It made for a weird disconnect.
The actors in the “Being Human” pilot were heads and tales over the two they re-casted with. When they made the change I decided to pass on the show.
I agree Being Human is a teriffic show and that vampire Aiden is totally gorgeous. But I really enjoy both shows for very different reasons.
Actually his character is named Mitchell on the show.
I’m so happy the numbers continue to rise. True Blood is a great show with an amazing cast. I’m sure the explosive chemistry between Eric and Sookie contributed to the huge increase in numbers from last week. I’m not saying the other characters and actors are not great b/c they are, but I do believe that Eric (AS) and Sookie (AP) scenes have a lot to do with it.

I agree with you “eric northman is mine,” (btw love the name). I think viewers are loving the teasers of what is in store for Sookie and Eric. The other subplots are also fantastic, but there is something so intoxicating about a love triangle. Especially if you are a fan of the books and cant wait to see the destine relationship Sookie has with Eric. I am a big team Eric fan, but I also cant wait for the introduction of some other “supes” Sookie gets involved with along the way! I hope everyone keeps supporting True Blood! Keep watching so we can keep enjoy some truly creative and enjoyable television.
20% in one week, on premium cable is crazy! That type of ratings jump just does not happen very often. This thing has gone beyond the vampire trend and become its own thing.

Its all about the awesome Michelle Forbes (Maryanne)! I don’t care what anyone says, this story is creepily awesome and Ms. Forbes owns every scene she is in.
I think this show is the heir to The Sopranos and has to be HBO’s flagship series now. The best show on tv right now.
I would say 1 of 2, right up there with MAD MEN.
