Exclusive: Oscar winner enters 'Dollhouse'

Categories: Dollhouse, News

Keith-carradine-dollhouse_lWhen it rains, it pours: Not only is Keith Carradine returning to Dexter this season as Deb’s Fed ex, he’s just sealed a deal to appear in two episodes of Dollhouse, sources confirm to me exclusively.

In Joss Whedon’s Fox series (returning September 25), the Nashville Oscar winner will play a powerful businessman by the name of Matthew Harding.

And yes, as of now, that’s all I — and, by extension, you — know.

Does the veteran actor’s casting make you any likelier to tune into Dollhouse? Weigh in below.

As long as joss keeps making it as awesome as it is. I will watch.

  • tvlowdown

Great news. I’ve always thought he was great in Dexter, and I can see him fitting in very well with Dollhouse.

Playing a “powerful businessman”? Some bigwig from Rossum/Dollhouse perhaps?

    • Stephanie

      maybe someone allergic to seafood?

  • whishesforfishes

    I’d be watching it anyway!

THIS IS A TOTAL BONUS!!! YESSSSSSSSSS

  • jenn

I’ll be watching anyways, this is just icing on the cake. With Summer Glau and Jamie Bamber also set to do guest stints on the show, my only worry is that they will outshine the already established cast.

  • readinrobin

Britney Spears could make a guest appearance on Dollhouse and I would still watch it. Joss has me for life.

    • Chris

This. Bizarre guest stars didn’t discourage me from watching HIMYM, and they sure as hell wouldn’t get me off a Joss show. :D

(Not that Keith Carradine is a bad choice. I love him in Dexter!)

    • Mathew Rodriguez

Funny enough, Britney Spears was set to guest star in the episode “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts.

  • John

I love him on Dexter, and I love Dollhouse, so my only worry is that this means Lundy’s stay is short for some reason on Dexter, which makes me sad :( . Oh well. Great actor though, stage and screen.

  • Ray Radlein

It can’t make me more likely to watch, since things don’t get bigger than 100% likely.

  • The Other Kyle

Epitaph One made me more likely to tune into Dollhouse. I already was on board but that episode was so unexpected and awesome. I wish season 2 picked up in the future with the brother and sister and little girl Echo.

    • LadyUranus

Yeah, I was wondering if I could get the enthusiasm to watch Dollhouse again, or whether I’d be better off rewatching Firefly, but then I saw Epitaph One. IT’S AWESOMENESS CANNOT BE STOPPED.

    • brody

Epitaph One was indeed pure awesome. I don’t think Zone and Mag are related, though. Did I miss something?

  • Brian

I think the only people reading this article are Dollhouse fans…unless they are a huge Carradine fan perhaps. Anyway I don’t think you will be able to get an unbiased answer to your question on here.

    • Fyrkat

Actually, I hate Dollhouse…but I’m a huge Carradine fan (all of em).
My roommate is a Dollhouse freak, so I’ll watch his episodes when she tells me he’s there.
Put a Carradine family member in any production, and I’m watching (sadly, this included ‘Lizzy Maguire’…even Robert didn’t make that train wreck good)

  • Anna Lawrence

It couldn’t make me any more likely to tune into ‘Dollhouse’ than I already am, which is 100%. I’m not really interested in stunt casting anyway – I’m watching for the regular characters, Victor and Sierra in particular.

  • Zach

I’d rather see his dead brother

  • Janie

This is great news!! I have a feeling the show, which is already awesome, is going to get better and better. The guest-star lineup is just one indication (Keith Carradine + Jamie Bamber + Alexis Denisof + maybe Summer Glau!!!). Also, in Whedonverse past, Joss really hits his stride after the first season. By which I mean Buffy and Angel. Firefly was magic from the beginning. But I digress! Dollhouse. YES.

  • Matches Malone

The show became watchable around episode nine, so, now I’ll be paying attention to what’s going on in it.

  • shig

    hell yeah!!!!
i think this season is gonna b amazin

  • rasil bathrobe

Yeah, I was definitely going to be watching, but this is probably a good sign for the show. Awesome guest stars should equal awesome episodes (and maybe even awesome ratings?).

  • elaine

I watched all of last season, but really got hooked at ep 6. The Joss Whedon name gets me watching a show, just like hearing James Marsters is on a show gets me tuning in.

  • CandyMaize

I would’ve been watching anyway, but I’m looking forward to seeing him on the show. :)

  • Ben

I am already on board with Dollhouse. Also Michael Hogan is coming on as a guest star. BTW to whoever said that Mag and Zone were bro and sis on Epitaph One apparently you need to go back and rewatch, which I would recommend anyways cause it’s the best episode ever. Can’t wait to see if Summer Glau makes an appearance too.

  • John

    I will be watching anyway.

  • Eden

I am a Joss fan who hasn’t given Doll House a go yet, but I did happen to just become obsessed with Deadwood. So Wild Bill is what’s gonna bring me to dollhouse. Yay.

  • ashlee

I watched all last season and loved the series. I was so worried it would not be pcied up for season two but Fox played smart. The new season is shaping up to be a doozy of guest stars. I am rally looking forward to the new season.

  • jon

UM WHEN DID KEITH CARRADINE WIN AN OSCAR? BECAUSE HE DIDNT.

  • jon

    SONGWRITER. MY MISTAKE

  • ShutUpRob

Already watching it thanks to the DVDs, so, still-fortunately, Carradine (the best actor among the Carradine brothers, IMO) is simply a hugely welcome addition for me.

    .
PS: What I’d like to see is an inside-joke cameo of Sarah Michelle Gellar as an Active and Anthony Stewart Head as her Handler cross paths with either Echo and Boyd or Echo and Paul as one pair is walking from the Chair to an Engagement and the other pair approaching the Chair after one.
    .
Yes, too fan-service by half, but there’s a hugely Meta (post-modern) aspect to Dollhouse anyway, so I think they should just go for it. SMG fans would probably appreciate her loosening up abit by going for it, too.

  • Nick

Boy, do I feel stupid. I sat looking in confusion at the screen for about 2 minutes before I realized that it was David who died. But I’m glad he’s coming back to Dexter and now is joining Dollhouse.

    • Sarah

Nick, I thought the same thing, so don’t feel bad. I thought it was some awful joke. But, I am an avid fan of both Dexter and Dollhouse and will continue to enjoy both.

  • Eils

What really gets me is the fact that this character will appear in two episodes. This could mean Dollhouse is finally moving away from “client of the week” fare and putting more focus on building its mythology. But yeah, I’m still on board, even after season one flopped, even before having seen Epitaph One. In fact, I’m gonna go watch it now.

  • Brad

I remember Keith Carradine from Deadwood. He was so cool as Bill Hickox and in Dexter. Knowing Whedon, his part is either one shot or he has a huge role in what will undo the Dollhouse. If he was Reed Diamond’s boss, wouldn’t that be superior.

  • al

Once they revealed who that multiple personality guy was, I lost interest in the show. They should have saved that. The show is running on steam right now, and won’t last long.

  • Serena

Absolutely not. I don’t think anything could make me watch this show. I’m offended by the concept from the get-go and cannot understand how people can find this continued rape-fantasy entertaining. Sick!

  • KIT

NO! I was really disappointed w/the way this show turned out. I’m a loyal Buffy fan (own ALL Seasons on DVD AND have the Swanson-Perry movie on DVD-LOVED it) DOLLHOUSE **REALLY STINKS**
