    I can’t wait!!

  • Brian

Can’t wait. I’ve read good and bad but will totally be there to give it a shot.

  • david

    Run away! Run away!

  • elly

I fear the very open woman’s shirt in the background says it all. Oh SyFy, please don’t sully Stargate’s good name…

    • Kay

Too late—they already did that with Vala in SG1’s season 9.

    • Jaime

Elly, that’s her hand. I mean, it may be blurry, but she’s running…

      • joesmom

That’s her hand, and behind that is an open jacket with cleavage showing. Its typical for these guys, as in Atlantis where Teyla always wore tops 2 sizes too small, and one had strings that looked like they were loose and about to unravel. Very tacky. Sorry to see the writers haven’t changed their frat boy ways.

      • pg15

Yes, because the writers wrote the poster on their laptops. LOL. You do realize there are other people who work on Stargate? Like, say…marketing people who think up advertisements like these?

It’s just “sex sells” philosophy, rampant in Hollywood. No point in snarking at Stargate about it.

    • E

Too late, they’ve already got egg on their faces over the sexual assault of a gay woman of color episode earlier week (hey, Mike, why aren’t you reporting that fiasco) & they follow it up with yet more of the same exploitative crap this show is all about. Because of course the woman has to have her shirt undone while running for her life.

      • A

“got egg on their faces” yes because all the major entertainment sites are covering the story – oh no wait just some bitter SGA fans on LJ and a website for lesbian and bi women! yeh that really blew up in their face.

      • Helena

Apparently the producers thought it was enough egg on their faces to worry about, since they publicly stated that they did rewrites of the episode to try to smooth over some of the issues.

    • Nikki

Because heaven forbid that a woman wears a low cut shirt. And it’s pretty obvious to me that the ‘open shirt’ is an open jacket.

      • Aque

With no shirt on underneath. Its not like they aren’t putting the guys in the same situation. Oh, wait, no they aren’t, its never a man without a shirt, its always the female titillation factor they go for. You seem to have missed the breasts hanging out.

      • EternalDensity

Aque, Lt Scott (the guy in the poster) has been shown shirtless in a previously released picture.
And I’d hardly call what we see in this poster “hanging out”.

      • JC

It is an open jacket with a shirt underneath. You can tell by the texture that its not skin — unless this character has suffered 2nd degree burns on her chest. And you can see a dark line up near the neck where the shirt ends and the skin of her neck begins.

Now, I think they made a mistake in choosing the color of that shirt because it is almost the color of flesh, but there is indeed a shirt under that open jacket.

Of course, none of this discussion at all tells us anything about the quality of the show. I’m willing to watch a couple episodes and give it a shot.

  • Big D

This show is a must see!

  • Audrey

Dude. I’m really looking forward to it. Will give it a shot, I think I may end up enjoying it tho.

  • Kerrie

    Eagerly awaiting this one….

  • A

Great poster!!! Can’t beat a bit of Brian J Smith!!!

  • Gerald

They’re being chased by a giant ViewMaster!

    • Snsetblaze

LOL. I had to go back and look but you are right.

  • Jen

I’ll give it shot, but I’m still pissed about losing Atlantis (just when it was hitting it’s stride and getting really good) to make room for this new one.

  • Les Ferris

Cool poster, I can’t wait to see the show :-) It’s nice to get this today after being disappointed by the Avatar trailer…

  • Shelley

Can’t wait, have been fan of all the Stargate series’, and don’t see Universe not being another fave of mine. Great poster!

  • joesmom

Yes, let us not forget the hawt chick with cleavage. Gag. They ruined Atlantis when they started killing off main characters to bring in more hawtness for love triangles (Keller puke), and they never should have cancelled Stargate SG1 in the first place. No thanks. These people forgot how to write GOOD sci fi long ago.

    • A

Seriously after 10 years how much longer did you expect SG1 to go on for?

      • david

Imagine Carter and Jackson exploring planets on their rascal scooters…

  • Captain Average

The poster sucks big – but the series sounds interesting.

  • David Roman

Lets all give this show an honest shot, It might surprise. Still though, I personally don’t have a lot of faith that this will become a worthwhile addition to the Stargate Cannon. Perhaps the survival theme will draw them too far away from Stargate and too close to Galactica territory which has been done to near perfection by said show. Here’s hoping for something special……

    • swthompson

I’m guessing you meant canon instead of cannon– either that, or there’s a new weapon in this version.

  • jj

I find it a little funny that a very vocal few seem to think that characters that are not from Earth in shows like Stargate need to have the exact same fashion sense as they do. They seem to forget that characters such as Vala and Teyla are not from Earth and may and probably don’t have the same kind of prudish notions. I didn’t hear too much rumblings about all the suggestive scenes and scantily clad characters of BSG. Stargate was and will still be a great escape for Friday night viewing. I’m just amazed that Col. Jack and the others never visited a world that clothes were unheard of. Now that would have been must see TV just to see the expressions on his face.

    • waya

I always laughed at Teyla on SGA as everyone in the room would be wearing jackets and she would be bulging out of that crappy purple stringy tank top. I used to think, “Doesn’t that girl get COLD?” *LOL* It was beyond stupid.

  • JAIJAI

it’s not that it’s all that uncommon to use sex to sell tv. but it’s the onesidedness that is what really annoys. yes. if you’re going to sell a show on the hotness of the women, also use the hotness of the men. unfortunately the scifi genre still ignores that there are millions of straight women who watch sci fi shows and read sci fi books. i actually heard a radio show the other day that also brought up the lack of “ethnic” diversity in a lot of these shows and movies (especially in the past) and they were surmising that it was because people of color didn’t really dig the sci fi genre. When will TPTB, casting directors, and writers realize that people of all cultures and gender watch and enjoy Sci Fi??? We are not all pasty white friendless geeks jerking off in our homes!!!

    • Xanadu West

Yeah JaiJai, TV’s onesidedness concerning nudity is a real problem. For example, tune into True Blood only to see Jason Stackhouse without his shirt on in most scenes… uh, OK… that’s a guy. Yeah well how about Sam Merlotte stripping down to his bare ass before he turns into… uh, wait… that’s another male character. OK, how about “Eggs” who NEVER wears a shirt… oh wait, he’s a guy too. Well, at least he’s pasty wh–, oh damn if he’s not black too. Damn… what was your point again???

      • shimmoril

Whoa! One whole show as your example! You’ve completely changed everyone’s minds!

  • KatieK

I think the show looks great. I can’t wait until October!

  • Kermonk

Yeah show is the trailer in HD (real HD not the youtube crap)

  • Mireak

    Run Forrest! Run!

  • Frank

Is that supposed to be a breast? Looks like bad cgi.

  • ben

Anyone who thinks this is going to ruin stargates “good name” they should remember that sg1 had actual nudity in the first episode. So can’t wait its going to be awesome.

    • Xanadu West

Hah! Good memory, ben. Brief but full frontal nekkidity in the first episode (on Showtime) sucked me right in, only to see it never appear again.

  • Twinkie

This looks like a Bruckheimer film. Male fantasy galore. Boring.

  • Amber

Would LOVE to see writing the calibre of Buffy, Voyager or ST or the original SG. I fear we are looking at lazy writing and white male biased sexism. I see a serious lack in female characters already, and not in any good position to do some good. Usually it’s Madonna/Whore stuff. Sigh. I’ll keep hoping though… Will try, despite this poster. They should get a real photographer though.

  • Paula

    Totally a ST: Voyager ripoff…

    • A

ST: Voyager totally a Lost in Space ripoff….

  • timotey

    Nope, still not interested.

  • Gillian

Oh yeah, we watch it and fall in love with it and then they lose interest in it like they did SGA and scrap it for their next new project.
Yeah, no – I wouldn’t watch this if you paid me.

  • J.

Do we need another spin-off of Stargate? Why not resurrect Firefly, SyFy?

    • David4

Because Firefly is dead and it’s crazy fans need to realize that. How would you make new episodes when 4-5 people are working on other shows?

While we are at it, why doesn’t NBC bring back Star Trek?!

  • Vetinari

I don’t think we need yet another version of the silly Stargate franchise but the poster looks okay. As to the woman’s somewhat open shirt, I find it a refreshing change that a tv series is trying to lure men even if in a slightly cheesy way. These days it seems like 80% of tv shows are aimed at women, they even have their own entire major network: ABC.

  • Joel

I can’t wait looks like the best stargate yet !!!
