Caprica exec producer Jane Espenson is using her powers as a charter member of the Whedonverse for good. Sources confirm to me exclusively that Buffy all-star James Marsters is joining the Battlestar Galactica prequel for a sizable arc.
Marsters will play a dangerous terrorist leader by the name of Barnabus Greeley in a minimum of three episodes. Driven by desires both moralistic and carnal, Barnabus is as lethal as he is unpredictable.
And no ones does lethal and unpredictable better than Marsters.
Caprica is set to make its Syfy debut on Jan. 22.

totally agree- excellent casting move. Loved him on Buffy and Torchwood. I was so-so on Caprica…but now….
I hadn’t planned to watch it either although i loved BSG. But now I will definitely give it a look see. I love Marsters.

I think actors take what they can get, he hasn’t worked in ages (visible projects that it) so it will good even if small to get his “cred” back to the main population.

He played Brainiac on Smallville for quite a bit. He’s been pretty out there in the geek market.
But he did work a lot since Buffy: Smallville, Without A Trace, Saving Grace, Torchwood, P.S. I Love You with Hilary Swank, a space western and Dragon Ball.
absolutely. i would love to see him with his own series. i loved watching him on Torchwood and Smallville, and noticed my interest waned on both series after his arc was done. It’s all about James!

For those who think James hasn’t been visible on American tv lately, you obviously missed him playing Buzz Aldrin in Moonshot on the History Channel last month and haven’t seen him in High Plains Invaders which will air on Syfy Aug. 30th.

The Caprica pilot was really good, and fake terrorism on TV is always good fun.
He was so good in Moonshot, had the best part. Not a slacker in High Plains Invaders either, lots of good eye shots. Love James, eyes, voice and body.
