If the coming season ends up being 24’s last, don’t count on Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack reconnecting with former love Audrey (Kim Raver), who lapsed into a catatonic state at the end of season 6. Exec producer Evan Katz tells me that a series-ending story has been hatched should 24 clock out for good next May—and it doesn’t involve an Audrey-Jack reunion.
“Some of the things we’re doing this season preclude [her returning],” he says. “So I think not. She was in bad shape the last time we saw her.”
Katz says a number of “contingencies are in place” that could either tie up the series or keep it going. (Reilly had suggested that the show’s hefty budget could make another season cost-prohibitive. Another hurdle: Sutherland’s contract expires in May.) “We have a scenario that would work well [if it's the end],” he says. “But we also have a bunch of scenarios where the show could go on in different ways…. We’re remaining flexible.”
What happens if a decision isn’t made by the time the final episode is shot in February? “That’s a great question,” says Katz. “Hopefully it’ll be clear before then.”

… and while I find Renee more than acceptable, I’m one of the folks out there who would have preferred Jack ending up with Chloe. Morris worked better as an ex-husband in terms of being a foil (and Jack wears the pants in Chloe’s family anyway!) and Audrey… works better as a corpse.
Come on producers, just one line so we have an answer to the question: Is Audrey dead yet?

Tha is like kissing your sister. Audrey isn’t right for Jack. Jack needs a quiet motherly type, aka, the MILF soccer mom. Audrey is too Hillary with too much baggage, same with Renee. I prefer Renee if I had to choose. She has a conscientious and would be able to relate to Jack.
That’s a bummer. I like how he says “she was in pretty bad shape the last time we saw her” as if that’s justification for not bringing her back. That’s exacty why she SHOULD be brought back, so she can have some resolution! Especially she she ended up that way because she was trying to rescue JACK from China. I’m actually really dissapointed to hear this.

While I generally respected Kim Raver as an actress, Audrey didn’t really much do much other than deliver exposition or wait for Jack to come rescue her. Though I did think she was more tolerable than Kate or Marilyn Bauer.
Renee seems to be the first Bauer love interest that’s actually on equal terms with Jack.

Jack doesn’t need a romantic interest, the storylines “feel” all mucked up when the writers have him romantically/emotionally involved, and of course, they never work so that whole approach is reminescent of Wiley Coyote and Roadrunner: always chasing it but never getting it.
But that’s what made season 1 so incredible.

Renee without a question. I was an Audrey fan at the time when she was on, but I saw her story as over after s6. Renee knows who Jack is and cares about him because of who he is, Audrey had to learn to care about him IN SPITE of who he ‘really’ is. Plus, who really doesn’t love Renee? Seriously… =D

are you kidding me? audrey completely understood jack from season 5 and on. jack has only known renee for a day how can she understand him more than audrey when audrey and jack had years? renee couldnt stand jack for the majority of season 7. jack and audrey belong together and even if they do move on, they will always love eachother.
I don’t care who Jack ends up with as long as if the producers and Kiefer want to keep going they can. There’s no way 24 doesn’t make money for FOX, and Reilly talking about pulling the plug because of money is just ingratitude to the people running the show.

I’m a much bigger fan of Jack and Renee and I love to see them together. Renee is more capable and is a far better female lead than Audrey.
Audrey is a complete whiner, she has no chemistry with Jack, she has the worst character delevopment. She’s pathentic. Pathentic and poor. I hope she doesn’t ever make an appearance in Day 8. So just let her be where she is at.

Honestly, I never cared for the Audrey character and (too whiny) I’m not thrilled with the idea of Jack and Renee (too weak-willed, alway with something to prove to Jack). Realistically, Jack’s character should end up alone. Whenever a romantic storyline is introduced, it always feels a bit forced. Perhaps it’s just a case of not getting the right actress to create that chemistry with Kiefer. But, I really thinking he hasn’t had a good romantic equal since Nina — and we all know where that went. But, my vote, if they feel the need to have Jack ride off into the sunset with someone, then it should probably be a really strong female character …. possibly a woman mercenary who could keep up with Jack. But, again, I think the most realistic approach would have him ending up alone.
I liked Nina. A mercenary would be too harsh for him to be with at this point though.
nooo i was soo disappointed to hear this. i really like audrey she was one of my favorite characters besides jack and chloe. i like renee, but not as a love interest for jack. there is more chemistry between jack and audrey and more history.
