At long last, someone to tell Betty she’s beautiful!
Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul is in talks to guest star on Ugly Betty, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Details of Abdul’s role are being kept under wraps, but an Ugly insider tells me that she’d be playing a new temp at Mode who bonds with Becki Newton’s Amanda.
If a deal can be made, this would mark Abdul’s first official post-Idol gig. (Her upcoming appearance on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva was brokered before she twittered her resignation.)

I don’t understand why everybody’s chomping at the bit to hire Paula Abdul. I mean, maybe she could be a spokesperson for a major pharmaceutical company, but acting? Please…

Paula IS a bit kooky, but that’s part of her charm. I’m going to miss her so much when Idol returns. *Sigh* But! It would be delightful (and campy, I hope) to see her be vapid with Newton’s Amanda.
I don’t understand Paula’s appeal at all. She strikes me as a big, vapid zero who is more of an embarrassment than a talent. Who is clamoring to have this woman do anything? The masses are asses.
I am glad that Paula will have a great career in front of her with my favorite show “Ugly Betty”. Good for you Paula….bad for American Idol. Big Mistake for letting her go. Duh! Did you not realize how loved she is and how much many of us looked to her critiques and showmanship. Her presence allowed Simon to look like an idiot…so ill mannered he is…She is so classy. She will be sorely missed.

Paula has her issues to be certain, but it was Simon’s constant childish prodding and whispering that annoyed me to no end. At least we know Kara won’t put up with that crap. Ryan makes me nuts, he’s annoying to the max. Not worth the money.

I like the idea of a guest spot, but making her a temp seems like a waste of her celebrity. An AI-themed dream sequence or something like that would be funnier.

Good for her. I never like it when an employer (Fox/Idol Producers) thinks they have you over a barrel because you could not possibly do anything else – and uses that to justify not giving you the raise you merit and yet go ahead and spend that money on hiring a 2nd person. Been there done that. “Living well is the best revenge” is so true. So she need never say another word about it – but go out and work-work-work on any show and network willing to have her. That it’s “Ugly Betty” is a plus for her – I think it’s a very good and “good hearted” program – which is the specific element she brought to Idol. I simply hope they don’t make her character a nasty backbiter – even though she’d have learned a lot from the guy sitting next to her for years. Paula’s acted – I’ve seen her in stuff – probably back in the ’80s – and she was not bad, folks.
Sounds like everyone is racing to make her an offer…not sure about how well she could act – we’ll see
Despite it’s many flaws, you have to admit that Ugly Betty knows how to snag its guest stars.
Has any show had as many awesome guest appearances? I think not.

UB is really pulling out all of the stops to attract attention to its new timeslot. That makes me happy – that it won’t go down without a fight. If ABC promotes it, the PA episode should do a good rating (for a Friday).
I think Paula’s biggest problem is her choice of management. Her first agent thought is was a good idea for her to star in her own reality series which was a train wreck and who could not have seen that being the case. Her new agent played hardball with FOX and lost her the contract with AI. It is that simple, he pushed Fox into a corner and negotiations never work well when that is the case and taking it to the public was a colussal mistake. The good to come out is the tremendous amount of publicity that has resulted which is why Ugly Betty would even have thought of Paula Abdul as a possible guest star, I am sure no one there had this thought before all this publicity.
Good for her and good for us to get to see her on so many other shows. AI is the worse for letting her go. She was the Yin to Simons Yang. I really think Simon will miss her.
Let’s see. Paula is a singer, dancer and correographer, a woman, and she has been in the business for years. Ryan Seacrest talks on the radio and introduces the candidates on AI but he should make more money than Paula?????? I know Paula acts strange sometimes, but this seems just wrong to me, not to mention what Simon brings to the table.
You know you’re a moron when you’re a nobody handing out entertainment career advice to a supposed “dumb” chick who could take the Benjamins out of her purse and crush you with it. Maybe she can’t act, or sing, or dance. She’s still smart enough to make a career out of all three things and get paid handsomely for them. When you make your own multi-platinum selling cds, star on a hit tv show, become famous for your talent as a choreographer as well, and parlay those skills into movies and tv work, then you might have grounds for condemning her talent and entertainment resourcefulness. Until then, you’re just another idiot blogger wasting another day writing stupid rants about anyone and anything that not in line with your one track thinking. She’s entitled to a life after and beyond Idol if she so chooses- MORONS! Idiots are like flies- always buzzing around the feces.
Simon and Ryan got their fat raises and Paula should have gotten one too. They could have used kara’s salary and gotten rid of her instead.

Paula is a warm personality. She reminds me of my daugher who also stumbles over words and pulls wrong words. There is a term for it. Auditory Input to Output i.e. the thoughts are there and are intelligent but geting them out is difficult. There is nothing wrong with my daughter and nothing wrong with Paula. Simon doesn’t help.
Everyone of us has our own faults and should not be judgemental of others. None of us are perfect…we are far from it so everyone that wants to write something ugly should go get a life!
