'House' scoop: Cameron and Chase 'back in their old jobs!'

Categories: House, News

house-engagement_lIt’s the news Cameron and Chase fans have longed to hear: After two years spent mostly on the sidelines, Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer will be back in the trenches on House this season.

“They are both thrown back into their old jobs,” Morrison told us at last night’s Teen Choice Awards. “It’s been great actually. I have been working a lot and there are things that happen to House very early in the season that have a domino effect on all of the other characters.”

Those “things” involve a shake-up at Princeton Plainsboro that finds Foreman filling in for an ailing House as the hospital’s top doc. The transition is rocky to say the least. “Cameron was always very close and protective of House,” she says. “And to have her mentor be away in an asylum makes her contemplate life and career and him. Having him gone affects everyone he works with, personally and professionally.”

Further complicating matters will be Cameron and Chase’s status as newlyweds. “This season starts a few months from where we left off last season in the finale and Chase and Cameron are finding their groove as a married couple,” reveals Morrison, who hints at some friction now that they’re working alongside each other again. “That might put some strain on the marriage.

“They’re taking things up a notch [this season],” Morrison continues. “I think the audience will be able to enjoy seeing new things from all of us.”

  • Ameer

Yay! I’ve been waiting a long time for this.

  • The1337

    Finally…

  • lovesurvivor

Not a fan of Chase, so I’m not thrilled by this. Cameron coming back as someone who’s not pining over House is good, though.

    • Judy

Yes. Please God, no more pining. But I doubt that would happen. She’s married now. If something like that occured, her character would so get blasted. And I’d hate to see that. She’s not so bad. So hopefully they keep her that way-not so bad.

  • Karen

    The Ducklings are back!
I can already feel that this season is gonna be one of the shows best! Thanks for the scoop!

  • Michelle

Any storyline that leaves Chase and Cameron married…just ugh. Only House and Cuddy are MORE hurl-worthy.

    • Ryan

This interview is about Jennifer Morrison, Cameron and Chase, who cares about Cuddy or Huddy.

    • Anne

Sorry, I have to disagree. Chase and Cameron are the best couple on the show. At least the most normal people. I think they fit perfectly together.

      • Clive

anyone who can refer to Cameron as “normal” should get help!

      • Rob

Clive, buy yourself a watermelon farm and get lost

      • Clive

Robbie Baby – “a watermelon farm??”
What the hell does that mean?

      • Bella

        I totally agree with you!
They’re the best couple ever! *.* I hope they don’t break up

      • Linda Luttgens

I think chase and cameron are the best couple, and could be stronger as one unit at the hospital for the show.

  • nick

    i just miss kutner

    • Abner

Really, I thought he was a moron and would be happy to see the other two follow his exit (though I am not morbid enough to desire that they go out as he did)

      • Abner

By the other two, I mean 13 and I can’t even remember the guys name. I am a big fan of the original three. they had the right mix of groveling to House’s demands and independence to get the job done right.

    • Jose

oh, puhleeze – the guy had the personality of a doorknob

  • craig

is there any video of you at abc’S Press party? Great job with everything

  • Kate

Yay! Hopefully it’s for good. Not a huge fan of Cameron and Chase as a couple, but I’ve missed their characters actually being on the show. Thanks for the scoop!

  • Tom

I guess I’m happy with this because the show hasn’t been the same without them “on the team” but the writers will need to throw plausibility out the window to make it happen and House was already getting a little close to the surreal line. Unless House wakes up to find Sela Ward in the shower and the last few years are revealed as a dream I don’t know how the writers can believably pull it off.

    • Meredith44

I agree with this. I loved Chase, but I was okay with the team splitting up because it wasn’t realistic for Foreman, Cameron, and Chase to be fellows under House any longer. First of all, fellowships don’t last that long. Second of all, they’d learned all that they could from him.
I was interested to see how the “ducklings” interacted with House as peers rather than as subordinates. It didn’t work as well as I would have liked, mostly as it seemed they were shoehorning the old fellows in, but I still believe in the basic concept.
Thus, I’m wondering how they can possibly believably bring Chase and Cameron back on the team, and I’m not excited about the news. (Although, I’m really quite sure that I’m in a very small minority with that opinion.)

    • Clive

The only thing worse than listening to Cameron’s pining is seeing that Sela Ward woman back in the picture. Ugh.

      • Rob

You’re wrong, I think it’s worse listening to Cuddy whining about House

  • AJ Salazar

    One word: YEY!

  • Fernanda

I like equally both teams, but I’m really happy to see Chase and Cameron again.
I have a lot of expectations that this season the writers’re going to be able to give the right (and well-balanced) amount of screentime for each character.

  • 11010

My first two thoughts: This is something nice for the Chase and Cameron fans. And, selfishly speaking, perhaps now they will be able to be more kind and understanding to the other fan groups. I believe some of their cruelty stemmed from frustration. Not that that excuses it, but it makes it more understandable. So, I’m glad for this news for them. And hope that this makes it to where every site like this I come onto isn’t filled with fights and biting remarks about some other fan group that they perceive as getting more than them. In that way, it would be a great relief. Like lifting an anvil from my shoulder. Here’s hoping.

    • Isabel

      Ausiello, I LOVE YOU.

Now if there’s anyway we can see this on video I’d be forever thankful

It was about time seeing Cameron and Chase back as doctors and working as much as they were before, Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer AND their fans deserve it. I don’t care about these characters as a couple, I like them individually. I hope this season screentime is equally divided among all the supporting character, I have had enough of Thirteen MD or Cuddy’s baby drama.

    • James

      11010, bitter much?

      • 11010

This is exactly what I was talking about. You guys get good news and you still can’t help but try to start something. Some of you make it REALLY hard to be fair to you.

      • Fernanda

Well, it doesn’t sound bitter to me. Actually, the oposite, in a conciliatory manner, IMO.

      • James

11010, see you can’t just be happy for Cameron and Chase fans, you just have to come here and start lecturing us and hope nobody tell you to shut up, the truth is that noone asked you to be fair to us, now you can post again and say how mean or rude I’m a Chase or Cameron fan being to you.

      • 11010

F, I did mean it in a conciatory manner. I wanted to try to express happiness for them and a hope that they can with this great news for them, learn to be nicer to the other fans. And, I was hoping for respect. But no, I’m not bitter at all. Just sad for you that you are so angry about what? Two non-existent characters in a TV show and you use that as an excuse to be a hater. Oh well. :D

      • 11010

Nope. I’m not worried or bitter or angry, as you seem to be. Just stating my exhaustion at dealing with people who have poor impulse control. ;)

      • bene

I love HOUSE MD and absolutely love Hugh Laurie, but you crazed fans are silly. it’s a tv show! stop starting imaginary fights online!

      • Clive

James and 11010-how old are you morons? 2? Cause you act like a bunch of kids. Why are so invested in this – who’s a Chase/Cameron fan etc. – it’s so retarded. Grow up and get a life.

  • indz

YES FINALLLY, I HAVE WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS.
    duckling reunion :D

    • Linda

I’m with you, it’s about time. and I think it will be fun to watch them.

    • Idiot Watch

Linda & Indz – you are both idiots.

  • Charlie

    daaaaaaaanm
kind of thought they were better left to the side- oh well :/

    • k.

I’m sure this is just a temporary thing. I almost forgot about them. Not in a bad way. But just I never really thought they were very interesting characters, speaking for myself.

      • Luna

Temporary, LOL, wait till ratings skyrocket

      • k.

        Okay.

    • Fi

Totally agree, I’m more interested in the new team. Yet even scoop for characters I don’t care about gets me excited for the new season, can’t wait until September!

      • littleD

me too. i like the new team better. only because the show has moved on from the old team. it felt more like the story of people’s lives. like peeking in on them. not something sort of contrived. but if it’s while House has his license suspended then i guess it can work. i can’t wait until september, either! House is awesome.

      • Sandra

Ausiello, I love you!!! Finally!!! It was about time they started to reintegrate Chase and Cameron, what a waste of talent during the last two seasons! And it’s great to hear that they are back as doctors and that it puts a strain on their marriage. Sorry for the Chameron fans, but I prefer them as individuals and as doctors – good to hear they are mainly back as such! Now that Huddy is over and the original ducklings reunited I can’t wait for the new season to start! :-)

      • Sandra

Sorry, wrong button, I didn’t want to reply to you but in general ;-)

      • savitrii

        Dude! My thoughts exactly!

      • Clive

Sandra, you need to get yourself a hobby.

      • Rob

        Clive, practice what you preach

      • Clive

Robbie, you again? Maybe I should take up watermelon farming!

      • Linda

at first I was not thrilled when we lost the old team but I have really come to like the new people as much as the original group of people, but that’s just me!

  • ShutUpRob

Yay! Cameron’s back on the team. Now, I just hope that Cameron & Chase getting married means that Spencer will make the show go through with his threat to have them kill Chase off. Cameron is much, much more interesting in her dark, damaged place. And even without so many doctors, the show doesn’t need the Cary-Elwes-lite Chase.
    .
    – Rob

    • borputu

Not me, I like Chase much much better. Cameron never really grew on me. I think it was because she was too emo. That’s the main thing that I can reacall at the moment that bugged me to death about her. I never hated her, but if I had to choose between the two, it would be Chase hands down.

  • brandy

YES! I am so glad that we get some Chameron time. Thanks so much, Ausiello.

  • Carrie

    Chameron, ftw, baby!

  • Kathy

I’ve been watching the first three seasons again and didn’t realize how much the show has changed. Bring back the ducklings and the clinic. They are sorely missed.

  • Dave

Sorry for the caps but this is FANTASTIC NEWS! I’ve missed Cameron and Chase over the last two seasons where they’ve been mostly in the background. Hopefully this means less “13″ as I quite like Taub.

  • thebiglebowski

Meh. I’m more interested in what happens with House the character.

  • Sam

Oh thank goodness. I think the Chase-House interactions are miles more interesting than House’s interactions with his other fellows. Don’t love the Chase/Cameron relationship–I really only care how House relates to the fellows–but this is fantastic. Especially since Chase’s relationship with House has changed since the beginning when he was just a yes-man.

    • lara

I like Chase too. But I’m not going to say that I don’t care about how he relates to the fellows. To say that misses the whole point of this show. It’s not about House and his relationship with the fellows past or present. That is merely a single aspect of it. Unlike you, I like Chase/Cameron as a couple. I’m glad we both agree on the Chase thing.

      • Sam

You’re absolutely right: I was exaggerating my dislike for inter-team relationships because, to be perfectly honest, Foreman/Thirteen really bored me. (The professional/competitive dynamics between Chase and Foreman and Cameron and Foreman always had way more potential than Foreman’s relationship with Thirteen, IMHO.) I don’t think the show as done a great job in the romance department when it comes to relationships among the fellows, so I’d rather see the show concentrate on what it does well, and I think the Chase-House relationship was particularly compelling. I hope they get screen time together, because I think the actors play off of each other particularly well. They’ve had some really great scenes, especially in the third season.

      • Linda

I agree with lara and sam, I would like to see more of chase and house together, now that it seems like chase has grown a pair.

  • Epiphany

Chase and Cameron’s return to the fold must surely spell the end for ForeTeen – hooray! Two couples working together is one too many. They should just get rid of Olivia Wilde as her character brings absolutely nothing to the show. She won’t be missed.

  • Lorie

    Finally! Great news.

  • Jenn

BEST. HOUSE. NEWS. IN. TWO. SEASONS.

I was so sick of Huddy, Thirteen and Foreman. This is a reason to start watching again.

  • Linsee

I’m glad Chase is back. Cameron I’m less excited abt. Nt really my cup of tea. Although oddly enough, I do like Chameron. IDK, it’s weird. To each our own, I guess.

  • Pat

    Great news.

Michael, I thought Shore told you after Kutner’s suicide that Cameron and Chase *weren’t* going to be back on the team.

Does this mean he’s finally going to listen to the fans after all?

  • joe

I’m not here really to say anything about chase or cameron. i’m apathetic about that news. I mean, it’s alright for those who like them. So, whatever. I’m here just to come to an open forum and say that I saw that snakes on a cane thing and the quote, “I was deluded into thinking I was crazy.” Lines like these are the icing on the cake that is House. LOL This show rules, man.

  • Sandra

Ausiello, I love you!!! Finally!!! It was about time they started to reintegrate Chase and Cameron, what a waste of talent during the last two seasons! And it’s great to hear that they are back as doctors and that it puts a strain on their marriage. • nitemar

Good, love Cameron and Chase on the show(not s a couple), think the show took slight deep when they left, and another deep when they brought the new team, **couthirteugheen**.

  • radi

I like Chase/Cameron as doctors and as a couple. They’re cute together. And the most well-adjusted people on the show that I can think of. They’re a nice balance to all the other dysfunctional characters. So thanks for the Ch/C news, Mike. :)

    • Clive

Yes, it’s wonderful to see 2 beautiful white blonde Barbie Doll people together, no matter how vacuous they may be. It makes us feel all warm and cosy inside.

      • Clivethemoron

Clive, like you adviced other users here, you need to get yourself a hobby other than being a ridiculous embarrassing Huddy fangirl jerk.

      • Clive

Hey “Clive the Moron” – that’s not very nice of you, and how dare you refer to me as a “Huddy fangirl” – UGH. I shudder to think I would be included in this band of what is undoubtedly a group of moronic tweens. I might take up writing as a hobby – a script for House. Chase & Cameron kill themselves in a suicide pact.
