WHO: Network president Dawn Ostroff
11:48 am/PST: Ostroff saw an opportunity to make some traction on Friday night, hence the decision to move “a big established hit like Smallville” there.
11:50 am: Ostroff says we’d be surprised how many 35-year-old men come up to her and admit to loving The CW.
11:52 am: “I hope it’s not the last season,” Ostroff says of Smallville. “I think the producers have come up with some really good storylines this season. I think the show has a lot of life left in it. We have high hopes for it staying on the air for a while.”
11:54 am: Ostroff also hopes Supernatural will remain on the air “for a while.”
11:56 am: Gossip Girl spinoff is “unlikely.”
11:57 am: A Melrose-90210 crossover is a possibility “down the road.”
12:01 pm: There are no immediate plans for Michael Rosenbaum to return to Smallville, but Lex’s presence will continue to be felt. “I wouldn’t rule out [him coming back],” she says. “But I don’t know if it’ll happen this season.”
12:03 pm: Ostroff describes the network’s new dramedy Life Unexpected as “Juno meets Gilmore Girls.” I’ll be the judge of that.
12:03 pm: Body Politic is still dead. Let’s move on, people (says the person still clamoring for a Gilmore Girls reunion movie).
12:05 pm: Ostroff is in some serious denial about the Mischa Barton crisis. Not only is she not the least bit concerned about her health, she apparently hasn’t noticed that the formerly rail-thin actress has recently put on some weight.
Lunch time!

I know a lot of Smallville fans are outraged that it moved to Friday nights. However, as a Smallville fan, I think that it was an excellent move. Smallville would be the only logical show to move to Friday night. It’s the only real established show that will bring its audience with it. No other show can do that. This also coming from a fan of other CW shows (OTH, GG, ANTM and Supernatural).
That two-faced bitch! So, the CW barely promotes SPN and focuses all the promotions on GG, OTH or whatever new soap they get but when SPN explodes with positive reviews from critics and remains one of the network’s top shows AND when it approaches the end of its 5 year plan Ostroff has the guts to say “she hopes it stays on the air for a while”?
Body Politic should be shopped around to a network (or cable – maybe FX or TNT) where it is allowed to take some chances. The pilot really had potential.
Phooey on Ostroff to not pick it up. They are going to need something at the CW to pick up the slack when The Beautiful Life crashes and burns, but thankfully Dawn stuck a fork in Lily or whatever that GG spinoff was supposed to be.
Hopefully BP will have landed somewhere else by then and Ostroff can be left holding the appropriate “what if” handbag…
i dont understead!!!dawn said ”lets move on”????
she’s is totally bitc*!!!!
body politic pilot was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
& she is totally loser!!!!
Read it again, Georgie… The move on comment was the Aus’s (as indicated by the parenthetical), not Dawn’s
Mike, can you ask why Smallville’s traction on Fridays is then followed by a REPEAT of America’s Next Top Model, rather than, oh, um, Body Politic?
so annoyed by how body politic wasn’t picked up. i think it could do well on abc, it would be cool if they picked it up
One line on Supernatural Wow well done dawn …..
I am so down for a Gilmore Girls reunion.
Sorry Dawn, you are blowing it by moving Smallville to Fridays. fanboys really do go out on the town on the weekends.
cam someone direct me to a “I hate Dawn Ostroff” site
the cw also needs to rid itself of its sickening green theme
I agree!! It’s terrible.
Hahaha… how did she get this job – obviously she is has no cajones to try new things except for the teen girl vampire or model thing that HBO and other channels have already done!!!
Menteme chat que te contagio.
Sorry to me she will always be the woman who killed Veronica Mars! :p
Seriously, is it just some deranged Jason Dohring fan who won’t shut up about Body Politic? Because unless I missed something, I find it hard to believe that that many are clamoring for something that’s never screened anywhere.
Enough with the “It’s just the VM fans/Dohring fans talking about BP!” It’s been screened for a lot of TV bloggers, and many have said it’s the best pilot that wasn’t picked up. Plus the premise and the rest of the cast is interesting to a lot of people (Minka Kelly!)
The CW was stupid to pass it by and it’s ridiculous to say they had to make a Sophie’s Choice when they’re airing repeats of ANTM after their highest rated show.
I’m all about Supernatural staying on the air at least for a few more seasons, but would someone please explain to me why the woman who killed Veronica Mars & Everwood still has a job? Dawn Ostroff is an idiot. So much so that when I hear something come out of her mouth like that glop about moving Smallville to Friday – I automatically think it is a terrible idea. I mean, at that network they are PROUD of how ‘great’! Supernatural is doing in a time slot against 2 top 10 shows. Why not put it somewhere were it could actually flourish instead of YAYA!floundering! She makes me ill.
