Eric’s accent is throwing me.
Stephen Moyer seems to be trying to look tall while Alexander Skarsgard is all scrunched down on the couch. Also, I love Skarsgard staying in “character” voice-wise. On the commentary for “Generation Kill”, they said he never went back to his normal voice while shooting.
If nothing homo-erotic happens on this season, and they only tease us about it, I’m definitely giving up.
What’s up with Alex’s accent, isn’t he Sweedish
How cute and funny are they togther? That set must be a blast to work on. Thank you so much for the wonderful interview with Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin and “the immoral one.” LOL!
If it’s true that 50% of Michael’s mail is about these three actors, then shouldn’t 50% of the coverage be on them, too? There’s seldom enough True Blood news for me.
Book fans only 5% of the TV audience??? Not hardly. AB strays too far from the books and he’ll find out how many book readers he loses from his audience.
Skarsgard is doing a remake of “Straw Dogs” like next month, and it’s set in the south. So I think he’s trying out the accent.
Alex’s accent is in preparation for Straw Dogs his new film based in the South. He doesn’t have a southern accent in TB.
Who was teasing anything about Eric having a homoerotic relationship with anyone? If Eric doesn’t pursue Sookie and catch her here and there, they lose me….of course I am one of the 5%.
Oh, there’s just something about Alexander Skarsgard…..
Notice the look on Alex’s face at Steven’s comment about only 5% of the TB audience are book readers. Almost like “WTF? Are you kidding me? What alternate universe are you living in?”
The universe is throwing me a bone. I love southern accents, and I also happen to love Alexander Skarsgard. Yes, life is good.
Alex has lived all over the world because of his dad’s acting career. He’s even lived in Texas during his teen years. He has mixture of many different accents. So, it’s completely possible that he picked up a southern drawl while living in Texas.
I like the books, but I am not a crazed Eric fan who will cease to watch the books and badmouth the show should the show stray the books — the show is its own entity, and even Charlaine Harris agrees. The book people need to calm down.
Alexander is one hot, tall piece of handsomeness.
I have a ton of friends that watch this show, I would say more than half have read the books and the ones that didn’t have started. The book series fangtastic, the tv series fangtastic!
Well, this Eric/Sookie fan is happy! I didn’t become a “book person” until a couple of weeks ago, but I like that the show is different from the books. But let’s face it, Bill and Sookie would get boring after a while. Whereas Eric and Sookie would NEVER be boring…
oh Alexander, could you be any more adorable?
I think Stephen isn’t being realistic about that 5% comment. Its definitely more than 50% of the viewers have read the books and/or probably will read them. Especially if you’re really crazy fanatic about the Sookie-world. I wonder if he went to Charlaine Harris’s book signing. … wonder what she has to say about that. haha!
I can’t wait till Alcide and Quinn comes into the picture… I wonder what he has to say then when they have to share airtime with more of Sookie’s male suitors.
Stephen, Anna, and Alex all have great chemistry. It will be fun to see what happens.
None of the many viewers that I know (except myself) have read the books, so I would say that the 5% is not a stretch. Also, seems like a lot of these vocal book fans–who are vicious to anyone who disagrees with them–assume that ALL book readers are automatically for Sookie-Eric, which certainly isn’t the case.
Stephen is correct about the 5%. I can understand the knee-jerk reaction to how bluntly it came out when he said it, but it is more or less accurate. I think a lot of people may be thrown by how wide-spread and intense the television series and book discussion may be online, but the amount of fans posting is a very tiny fraction to the overall viewing numbers. Believe it or not, there is probably a very large number of viewers who still don’t even know it’s based off a book series. Sad but true.
No matter how hard it seems Alan Ball tries to minimize Alexander in the role of Eric…. people still go crazy for him. Loudest screams at Paley and now from reports also at Comic Con. And it is not just bookies.
Skarsgard is something different in a world of just the same old same old to many of us out there. Give the guy some more air time. It doesnt have to be the triangle… and not homoerotic either. Love his talent.
Oh this is just awesome! Psyched about where the triangle is headed since I’m a Eric/Sookie fan. Oh and about Alex’s accent, most Europeans who go the U.S. usually get a mixed accent. I think his English is good though. It’s a bit of everything.
I think Stephen is right about the 5%. Most people I know watching the show have not read the books and don’t intend to. I also know many who have read the books and don’t watch the show, either because they don’t like it, or because they don’t have HBO. So, it goes both ways. There’s something for everyone.
I think the point is, its a bit belittling to assume that the book readers are just 5% of the viewers. Because the original viewers may have started small, but I think its safe to say that at least half of those original viewers loved the books. (just like Alan Ball, BTW) And a lot of the huge fans of the series do pick up the books to read more about the Sookie Stackhouse series after watching Season 1. And no, they are not automatically Team Eric. Most importantly, the characters in this universe and the “general plot” of the stories are in the books. So I think what a lot of the fans are saying (this one included) is we want to see an interpretation of the book and the characters come to life. (not necessarily scene by scene)
Btw, I agree, all the actors are great and are doing a great job with the series. Its exciting to see what will happen next.

yup yup yup – pretty much what i thought. Only horny people watch this show *g*
Apart from that, its amazing what a pleasant fellow that Stephen Moyer seems to be when he’s himself (as opposed to that dour and boring character on the show)
my favourite show by far i love true blood the characters are always interesting.Stephen and Anna are awesome love alex like everyone but whats good about the whole cast is their all sooo talented but are really nice and down to earth.
I love the books. The TV series is good for me, but I think the Southern accents (as a whole) are among the worst. There are a few exceptions, of course. It is especially noticeable for me with those who are not born in the US.
only 5%!!!, hahahahahaha Sthepen Moyer is crazy! please everyone knows that people began to devour books of Ch when ended the first season of True Blood and there are many people who are reading the books, so I agree with Diane and Kaye, Sthepen Moyer is not for unrealistic when he made this comment
I started watching the True BLood series last year without having read any of the books and loved it. Being an avid sci fi reader I received the entire book series as a gift and couldn’t put them down. I think it adds so much more to the experience of viewing the series that it only uses her books as a template. While a feature film can follow a book and you’ll go to see it to see how they’ve brought the images to life – who wants to watch a show week after week where you know what’s going to happen? Also, I really felt at a loss when the season was over and I knew it was going to be over 6 months before it started up again. With Carlaine Harris continuely coming out with more novels I can stay connected with characters I have come to love both on screen and in print and always be surprised and entertained. She has developed some amazing characters and we are having the privledge of seeing how they make their way through two similar and yet very different lives.
