Sopranos vet Jamie-Lynn Sigler is joining the cast of Ugly Betty in the recurring role of Natalie, Daniel’s sexy, spiritual, funny new assistant, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Natalie replaces Betty, who was promoted to features editor in last May’s season finale.
See? Only slightly misleading.
Sigler will debut in Betty’s second episode (the first after the two-hour premiere on Oct. 9).

Score another Soprano feather in the ABC hat. Drea, the perfect fit for Desperate Housewives and now Jamie Lynn cast perfectly in the role of Daniel’s new assistant. That is going to be a riot! He will never get any work accomplished. I can see her struggling to be Betty’s equivalent on the job and failing. But, clueless and major hot in this instance will have its benefits regardless. And a 2 hour premiere- spot on!
Hopefully this will improve the writing and this show.

Lame. Ugly Betty tried so hard to cut its dead wood (and its budget), killing or exiling many secondary characters, now they ADD one? Dumb. Why not fish inside its great talent pool, and make Justin Daniel’s new assistant? Or Amanda? Or the best actor on the show, Hilda? And make Hilda surprisingly more competent than Betty? Plus she’s already sexy and fun!
She’s really joining a sinking ship. Poor girl, can’t find decent work after the sopranos.
If they cancel Betty she could always join another sinking ship like Supernatural, she could be a sexy hot buffylike angel.
