Vince: A charming yet dangerous East Dillon junior. He’s African-American and, when we first meet him, he’s running from the cops. Look for Coach Taylor to put his speed to better use as a member of the Lions. Series regular.
Luke: Vince’s classmate and arch nemesis. He’s Caucasian, cocky, and charming. Reminds some of a young Paul Newman. Dillon’s new geographical breakdown has him playing for the Lions, and he’s not happy about it. Series regular.

Jess: The super-energetic daughter of a onetime NFL hopeful, she knows the game inside and out. When she’s not busy coaching her younger brothers, this sophomore/junior is getting crushed on by every guy in Dillon, East and West. Series regular.
Becky: A freshman beauty queen whose family is purebred trailer trash. Think Blair Waldorf with lousy genes. She finds Riggins in bed with her mother and reacts by trying to seduce him herself. My new favorite character is listed as recurring.

I’m kind of meh about these descriptions. But then again, if you had told me how much I’d like Tyra and Landry after only reading their descriptions, I’d tell you that you were nuts. I trust the writers to make it work.

Ooh, I love this game, and these characters sound great. Wish I knew more teenaged (or teenaged-looking) actors.
However, I’m a little worried that these characters all seem high-powered, confident kids. Where’s my sweet, insecure Saracen replacement? Who’s Landry going to hang with? I like my outcasts!
Here’s a suggestion. Don’t get rid of the old Matt. I’m so bummed they are getting rid of Saracen. He makes FNL for me.
i love fnl probly my favorite show but i dont know if im gonna watch with Zach Gilford not on there anymore…I just dont get it if they can keep Taylor Kitsch after him having a blockbuster this summer why cant they keep Zach around? Or do they even want to?
for LUKE…Zach Conroy from the soon to end GUIDING LIGHT…as James Spaulding, he’s already playing “charming”, “cocky”, and “not happy about it”…and maybe even looks a little like a young Paul Newman…..so it’s a no brainer!
I really hope Tim doesn’t fall for Becky’s charms. He’s over 18 now and she’s a freshman?? JAILBAIT!! NO, TIM, NO!!

Did they open a book entitled “Sports Movies Cliches” and point to four entries?
Aside from Jess, doesn’t sound like there’s someone fans can “root” for like we did Saracen and Smash. We need some underdogs or heroes!
And while Riggins alone was fine, we don’t need to have every character caught up in some melodrama – they had a nice balance of evening soap / drama and action … I hope they don’t become too “90210.”
Gregory Smith for Luke. He’s younger than Zach Gilford and he looks pretty young. Did you see him on Eli Stone last Saturday? He could pull it off.
Summer Glau or Sarah Drew for Jess.

I second the Gregory Smith comment but The Hollywood Reporter just ran a story last week about him getting cast in some Canadian co-productio for ABC of which I forget the name, so he seems to be occupied (at least until ABC cancels it.) I’d like for the show to bring in unknowns for these roles and introduce us to some new talent just like they did with the exiting lot.

I think these comments sound a bit to similiar of characters past. Vince= Smash/Riggins/Rodrigo(that spanish guy who disappeared after season 2) and Luke seems pretty much like Riggins/Jason and that girl sounds like Lyla and every slutty pep squad girl ever while the recurring girl sounds pure Tyra.
This people don’t sound exciting but that’s just paper. It’s all about who they cast. Let’s hope they d better than they have the past two seasons as season 2-3 have yet to introduce an interesting character.
Why did they just spoil that Lyla and Riggins are done? UGH!
Oh, man. Riggins sleeping with someone’s mother again? Yawn.
