HBO just released the titles and extended loglines for all five of True Blood’s August episodes and man, they are juicy. How juicy? So juicy that I’m inclined to forgive them for withholding fresh Blood from me last Sunday. Have a look-see yourself…
Aug. 2: “Release Me”
Betrayed by Daphne, Sam finds himself in an unenviable predicament at the hands of Maryann and her wild-eyed minions. Imprisoned with Hugo in the F.O.T.S. church, Sookie uses her telepathic powers to reach out to Bill, who’s being detained at the hotel by a stubbornly obsessive Lorena. After crossing a line with the Newlins, a fearful Jason tries to sever his ties with the Fellowship of the Sun, but gets plenty of resistance from Steve and his enforcer Gabe.
Crave more Blood? Good ’cause four more spoilery paragraphs await you after the jump…
Aug. 9: “Timebomb”
Sookie’s captivity takes an unexpected turn when Eric arrives to do his
master’s bidding on the eve of the Fellowship’s lockdown. In Bon Temps,
Sam finds himself in hot water after making a gruesome discovery at
Merlotte’s, and Andy proves no help in coming to his defense. Sent home
by Bill, Jessica and Hoyt learn that when it comes to sex, every time
is the first time. Tara and Eggs devour a mysterious meal prepared by
Maryann, with unexpected results. After Jason pays off his debt to the
vampires, Godric looks to enlighten his more single-minded followers.
Aug. 16: “I Will Rise Up”
A wounded Eric plays Sookie for a sucker, to Bill’s dismay, and ends up
getting inside her head. Later, Sookie and Jason bond over their recent
adventures. Blaming Eggs for Tara’s bruises and bizarre behavior,
Lafayette and Lettie Mae try to figure out a way to pry their kin from
Maryann’s clutches. Hoyt defends his relationship with Jessica to
Maxine, to no avail. Jailed by Bud along with a group of Bon Temps
revelers, Sam looks for a way to escape and avoid capture by an
increasingly obsessed Maryann. In Dallas, Eric and the vampires defend
their recent actions to Nan Flanagan and are shocked when Godric
decides to take the fall for their PR disaster.
Aug. 23: “New World in My View”
Sookie, Bill, and Jason return to a Bon Temps turned upside down by
Maryann. Lured to Merlotte’s by Arlene, Sam and Andy find cold comfort
in their refuge from a group of bloodthirsty revelers. Bill discovers
that traditional vampire techniques don’t work on Maryann; Hoyt and
Jessica try to keep a lid on Maxine’s madness; and Sookie tries to push
through the darkness consuming Tara. With all hell breaking loose,
Jason takes the bull by the horns to rescue Sam, at least for the
moment.
Aug. 30: “Frenzy”
With the crisis in Bon Temps careening out of control, Bill seeks out
the advice of Sophie-Anne (Evan Rachel Wood), the Vampire Queen of
Louisiana, but must exercise patience before she gives him critical
information. Meanwhile, Sookie and Lafayette find that protecting Tara
from herself is more difficult than they anticipated; a desperate Sam
turns to an unlikely source for assistance; and Jessica tests Hoyt’s
allegiance to Maxine.

Whoa. Sooooooo good! My only problem with True Blood is that HBO only makes 12 eps per season. oh well, less is more I suppose.
OH, I know. I wish that there were more episodes in a season. It feels like we just get a taste of Bon Temps life, and then it’s cruelly ripped away for a year (forever).
Lafayette vs. Maryann? That’s gonna be fun to watch.
Aug. 16 – I have two words: BULLET SUCKING. Hell yes!!!!!!!!
I’m on Book 6 right now, so I’m trying to make sense of that with what I’ve been reading, but if I remember to keep them seperate, I have a feeling those are going to be awesome episodes.
WTH is this season even about? Those blurbs bear sooooo little resemblance to the books, ugh. They just make me wanna cry! I love the books and last season the show was great, a few changes I could have lived without but not too terrible. This season is just going way too far away from the books for my liking!
People really need to accept that the books and the show are two different beasts. Alan Ball has long stated that he plans to stray. Get over it.
I really enjoy that the TV show is different b/c I don’t know what’s coming next. Last season, I knew all along who the killer was.
I agree with your TOTALLY. I love the books, I have read them all multiple times, but, I love the show too because it’s as exciting as the books (sometimes even more) and I don’t know what’s about to happen in every scene. Also, do you find yourself liking or disliking certain TV characters vs book characters? I like TV Bill way more thank book Bill, same for Sam. Somehow I’m still team Eric all the way.
I’m glad it’s different than the book. If it wasn’t, then Lafayette wouldn’t be alive. So kudos, writers for keeping it interesting.

I agree 100% with Amanda. Those of you who are upset about how the TV show is straying from the series of books should just quit watching if it bothers you that much. I, for one, cannot wait until this week’s episode. This is one of the best shows on TV right now, if not THE best. I can’t wait for the next new episode. I think this season is shaping up to be amazing and Alan Ball’s loyalty to the book series is the last thing on my mind (especially since the books are written so poorly – Harris’ ideas were great, they were just executed badly). In any case, I am crazy about this show and I hope it’s on for many more seasons. I can’t get enough!
Oh Yea Michelle, I thought the same thing! Glad they aren’t taking that out!!
I love the books (and love Charlaine Harris – she is a great writer) but I also like that Alan Ball is comfortable enough with the material to stray from it. I’d rather have his fascinating interpretation and new directions than a line-by-line retread anyday!
Wow! This series is even better than the last! It keeps us guessing, on the edge of our seats and holding our breathe until the next episode!!!
is just awesome
GO to YOUTUBE and watch
LITTLE MONKEY BOY CLIMBING
its a hilarious video!
I would LOVE to see Eric and Sookie develop a forbidden romance.
Marianna – you obviously didn’t read the books!
All will reveal itself!
stephanie arron ball has said a number of times sokie and eric NEVER hook up on the show he’s leaving it sokie and bill
It has only been a week and a half and I going through serious withdrawals. Love this show and cannot wait until Sunday. Eric, I love you.
excellent, just excellent. I can’t wait. Last sunday was such a bummre with no new blood. Is it Sunday yet?!?!?! I can’t wait!!
Without Charlaine’s books there would be no idea for Alan Ball to take and run with. The smug viewers that didn’t read the books should ‘get over it’. Alan is doing a great job but he shouldn’t stray from core aspects of the series.
Look at what the producers did to My Sister’s Keeper. Should those readers get over it?
I agree completely.
I guess you’ll just have to cry about it. It is what it is.
I am just dying to know if Lafayette will become a vampire
Swainy- Me too.
This all sounds soooooooo good! I can not wait until the next episode. I wonder if Sam and Tara will ever reunite.
I just read the synopsis for the next episode. I cant wait!!
Wanna know who that Bull-Man or Woman is

awesome its playing out just like the book but i hope that they keep bill n sookie together, if she has to be with eric i hope it is VERY brief and she doesnt sleep with him
No, No, sookie should hook up with Eric…I will extremely enjoy watching it and wishing it was me
why is everyone saying its different than the book? it isnt except that sookie isnt all pissed with bill and lafayette is alive, which hopefully means there is no eric and sookie moments , well any serious ones i couldnt bear no sookie/bill moments
I love the books AND the show. Charlaine Harris has an amazing imagination and is a great storyteller, even if she isn’t the smoothest writer. Alan Ball took those ideas and tweaked them (sometimes a bit more than tweaked). But overall, I’ve loved the changes (as much as I loved the books). It makes it more interesting!! With a similar concept but some new stories thrown in, it makes every Sunday fun!!! Plus, maybe this way Sookie and Bill will stay together….(I know it’s just wishful thinking, but hey).
I agree with the people who have said they are glad the series is straying from the books. I love the books (though the latest installment was pretty disappointing), but if the show followed the books to the letter, Lafayette would have been the corpse in Andy’s car, and who wants that? (The Lafayette character in the books was nowhere near as awesome as he is on the show, btw.) Anyway, I don’t see why fans of the books can’t just enjoy the series on its own merits, as a separate thing. Or, if you don’t like it, watch something else.
to be honest i love the books but charlaine wasnt the smoothest writer, i actually love the tv series wayyyyy more, i love how alan has strayed a bit, it gives me hopes that Eric will forever be on the outs instead of like 3 books being consumed with eric/sookie and bill on the sidelines it made them all look like players and sluts lol
i got pissed towards the end of the last book but i love the series the only thing keeping me intriged with the next book is that the last one implied sookie was going back to bill, but hopefully alan will make sure bill is never not with sookie ><
im korean . true blood is my favorite drama . i like it. i ordered its the original ‘living dead in dallas’ so good!!!! best of best~~~~~~~~
Bo freaking hoo! The show isn’t following the books, get over it. I don’t think it would be much fun to watch a show that follows the books exactly. That would be a waste of time if you already know whats gonna happen. I love this show, its the best show on TV. I haven’t been this interested in a show since The Sopranos(RIP)
