Scoop: 'CSI Miami' flashes back to '97

Categories: CSI: Miami, News

Csi-miami_l Someone get David Caruso some reverse aging cream, STAT. Sources confirm that CSI: Miami is planning to kick off its eighth season with a circa ‘97 origin episode that will show the early days of the team. It’s my understanding that the episode will be told from the point of view of a comatose Delko (Adam Rodriguez), who flashes back to his first murder case with the Miami-Dade PD. Delko, of course, was critically wounded in the season finale.

Thoughts?!

    Sounds very interesting.
All I’ve got to say though: Rory Cochrane better be there as Speedle!

  • Jenn

I’m a CSI:Miami fan, and while I know people think DC is over the top and ridiculous, I STILL LOVE this show! I’m not sure how they casting/makeup dept will “youth” the characters, but I can’t wait! Thanks Aus!!!

  • lalez

does that mean speedle is coming back?
    just a thought

  • MWC

Maybe Caruso will sport some Pop-era Bono sunglasses.

  • Katherine

If it means bringing back Speed (Rory Cochrane) then I’m watching! If not… then its back to ignoring this train wreck. It is the only one of the CSI franchise I can’t stand: too much of a Horatio/Caruso ego trip.

so – does this mean Lt. Megan Donner (Kim Delaney) will be back – she was the leader of the team back then, wasnt she?

  • M

Can we get Kim Delaney back for this one?? Lol.

Can we get Kim Delaney back for this one too? Lol.

    Will Khandi Alexander be back?

No way Delko dies. The guy is a f’n Termintor. He took a Sniper rifle shot to the skull and is still walking around fighting crime.

I think this is an interesting idea for this show to do a sort of start over and as Caruso described in filming of the finale, that this coming season would a “restart” of sorts. However, enough with Delko being injured and in Coma’s!!! Seriously, I am getting a little tired of them constantly beating up on him physically. I don’t think he will die b/c many sources have said he will be back…I just hope they don’t use this event to change his character yet again!!!…no amnesia please!! That scenario is getting old…on just about EVERY show!

I used to like this show back when it began and Caruso could act. It’ll be interesting to see how they flash back a decade. Will they have some of the many missing cast members return or will they find some bizarre way to work around them? Will Caruso act or chew scenery? Will everything be BRIGHT ORANGE and LOUD or more normal the way it was when the show began? Should be interesting.

The best comedy on tv continues to get funnier. Is it me or was Speed a monotone character with no emotion. Caruso at least has one emotion the soft speaking voice and the constant infatuation with his sunglasses and himself.

  • Snarf

“This look like…(pauses to take sunglasses dramatically on/off)..a chronic-historises”!

  • Jessie

Another Delko episode? BOO! Why don’t the writers get that there are other characters on the show and not everyone likes Delko. This episode is just an excuse to get Speed back on the show. We’ll see the beginning of Delko and Speed’s bromance.

  • Lucy

I am not a fan of Caruso’s. I also felt badly when they let Khandi go but I do like the rest of the cast; the only reason I watch the show.

  • Hallie

Anyone else immediately think of the West Wing episodes “In the Shadow of Two Gunmen Parts 1 & 2″? As Josh is lying in the hospital after being shot in the previous season’s finale, he begins to flash back to when Leo was putting together the team to begin Bartlett’s run at the White House. If the CSI episode is half as good as that was, I’ll watch.

  • Mikos

Okay people, pull the cameras back WAY back! Open up those f-stops, we’re gonna need that light to wash away Time itself. Holy crap, makeup! I’m seeing cracks! Get the polly filla on standby!

  • Larry Wasserman

What are they going to do about Kim Delaney?

  • Joe Reilly

    Will Calleigh be a brunette?
Is it pre-bad dye job for her?

  • Jay

So…we will now get to see David Caruso fidget with Ray-Ban Wayfarers? Ooh, neat.
Does anybody still watch this show? And if so, why?

  • Donny

    Watch it here at http://televission.blogspot.com/
It asks you to do a little survey but then it takes you right to the show! Enjoy :) I LOVE CSI!

  • Michelle

    Better bring back Speedle

  • lucas

i think a lot of folks are going to be disappointed. they are going far enough back that some of the folks they know and love might not be there yet. it will turn out that they came just a little late. easy trick to avoid dealing with huge contract negotiations to get the fired to come back.
as for the comments about David actually acting or just ‘chewing scenery’. that’s how he acts. it’s his method. so love it or hate it, you are stuck with it

  • Ryan

Bring back former cast members otherwise what a waste

  • Kat

Hmm… if they’re flashing back to 1997, then it would be Dade County not Miami-Dade…It was only in November of 97 that the citizens voted for it to be renamed Miami-Dade…it was 1998 before it went into effect.

  • geez!!

Geez! What’s with all the shows flashing forward and flashing back? Lost and Being Erica are the only two shows who are getting it right!

  • Nikki

I agree. Speedle is a must if this is going to work!!

  • Joni

Actors who are 12 years older will be portraying character that are 12 years younger.
I never find these extended flashbacks believable.
