Exclusive: 'Burn Notice' nabs 'Mental' case Chris Vance!

Categories: Burn Notice, News

Chris-Vance_l Chris Vance, who’s currently headlining Fox’s shrink procedural Mental, is Burn Notice-bound.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the ex-Prison Breaker has booked a four-episode arc as Gilroy, a sophisticated and ruthless former MI-6 bigwig who now oversees freelance black ops.

Translation: He’s about to make life hell for one Michael Westen.

Vance will appear during the second half of Burn Notice’s current third season, tentatively scheduled to air in early ‘10. The gig won’t conflict with Vance’s Mental duties since production on the drama’s first (and likely only) season wrapped months ago.

Thoughts?

He’s a good actor, but I’m not crazy about Mental.

aww. Mental was really beginning to grow on me although when I saw it moving to Fridays’, kinda had that feeling…

The hotness factor on Burn Notice is through the roof! Such a good show and eye candy aplenty! Too bad Gilroy has to go up against Michael Westen. Nobody beats the Super Spy (just ask Brennan ;-)

  • Windy

Wonder what kind of conflict will arise having someone from MI-6 around IRA postergirl Fi.

  • betty

    I love Chris Vance…

  • lynnway

I figured that Mental wouldn’t last past the summer. But I’m glad he’s got another gig, his hotness cannot be kept under wraps…I hope that a major network gives him a leading role!

  • Kelli

I really like Mental and wish that it was being better promoted. I think moving it to Fridays will be the kiss of death, though.

While I’m psyched that he’s gonna be on Burn Notice,I’m shocked ‘24′ didn’t pick him up. Chris Vance as an MI-6 agent working with/against Jack Bauer would’ve been awesome.

  • Elewyn

goddammit. A a psych patient he and house are probably the only fictional doctors i’d actually feel comfortable with. It was so nice to see on Tuesdays a (fictional) doctor knowing what they were doing because god knows the rest of the hacks don’t.

I’m excited to have Chris Vance on a much better show than Mental! Very good news indeed.

    Thoughts? Hot.

Vance was smart to say yes to a stint on Burn Notice, one of the best scripted dramas on ANY network. As its following grows I can’t help but think that the so-called big three (CBS, ABC, NBC) wish they had ANYTHING as good.
Michael, how about checking to see if Burn Notice, The Closer, Raising The Bar, Leverage, or Saving Grace were ever offered to CBS, ABC, or NBC. If so, considering the richness and popularity of the five aforementioned shows, I’m betting the brain trust that passed on any one of them is now working in the mailroom.

Mental has been slowly growing on me. When I saw that it is being moved to Friday, I was sure it was only a matter of time till it was gone for good. As I was not one who watched PB, Mental is the 1st show I’ve ever seen Vance in. And I’ve got to tell you…I AM a new fan!!! I am excited to see his interactions with Michael on BN. Who knows, maybe it will turn into a recurring gig…Fingers Crossed!!!!!!!!!!!!

liked mental alot- it was an easy show to settle into. I hope they wrap it up nicely before the cancel it- I wanna know the sister thing. But, will look forward to seeing Chris Vance on other programming now too- agree total hotness and good acting…

I think that Mr. Vance should never ever shave his chest. Let it grow, my friend.

  • Black in Dixie

Burn Notice is such a guilty pleasure.

  • k8iegirl

I’m sad because I quite enjoy Mental -and I don’t watch Burn Notice, although I’m going to have to start it seems. My roommate LOVES BN, so I’ll suck it up and watch it with him.

I like Mental mostly for Jacqueline MacKensie, but Vance is great on the show too. Burn Notice has been going overboard with the guest stars lately, almost taking the attention off of the shows main characters. I’d much rather Vance make trouble for Sam than Mike, because Sam needs his own storyline this year. I’m tired of seeing him play second-fiddle to Mike & Fi. More Chuck Finlay!!!

Chris Vance in Miami, hopefully wearing little clothing. I want to go to there.

I haven’t seen this guy, but I’ve liked the majority of guest stars on BN and like the idea of an MI-6 agent coming, as I see a lot of potential with Fiona, so I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for the info!

As long as the first thing he does is off Detective Moonblood whatever, I’m all for it.

I started watching Mental for Chris Vance–it was a nice surprise to see Jacquelin McKenzie on the show. The production values aren’t so great–at least when we watch it played back on our DVR, the colors seem muted and muddied–but we’ve been enjoying the show. I’m glad to see that Vance will be on Burn Notice, though.
The REALLY exciting thing, though, is being able to indulge my cougarish tendencies just by following a link posted here! Why, oh why, have I never heard of such a site before? They need to quit hiding their lights under a bushel and let us know about these things. (sarcasm off)

Love Chris Vance, Mental & Burn Notice! I do wish Mental was staying, but will take him on Burn Notice! I’m just glad that Burn Notice is a show I already watch! :)

  • JP

Sad, but I have to agree that Mental’s first season will probably also be its last. A very well thought out attempt at a series that deals with a topic still not well understood by a vast majority of the public. I applaud the effort and will be very sorry if it does not appear again next summer season.

  • sharon

I will watch Vance On Burn Notice of course but I really like him as a “good-guy” leading man!

  • tom in connecticut

you can bring in all the bad guys on tv but they won’t come close to the original burn notice bad guy. caprica 6

I love mental and I think that fox should keep the show, but yes he would be sexy in a speedo or something skimpy, who says guys get to have all the fun looking at us women, put a man in tight pants and a t-shirt that shows off his body (if hes got one) MORE MENTAL…MORE CHRIS VANCE!!!!

  • diddlinaranma

I love Mental!!Love Chris and Jacqueline MacKensie, I want a second season!!

  • Stephanie

As someone in the mental health field, I really enjoy the show Mental. I think is sheds light on a very important topic in the world today that is not understood by many. I think Fox should keep the show!
