Question: Will Daniel Eric Gold, who plays Betty ex-BF/boss Matt, be returning to Ugly Betty next season? –Janeen
Ausiello: Not only is he returning, but sources confirm to me
exclusively that he’s been promoted to a full-fledged series regular! But don’t take that to mean Matt and Betty will reunite and live happily ever after. In fact, I hear Betty producers are already cooking up a fresh obstacle for the pair, and rumor has it they want him to be lovable and blue collarish. (Think Seth Rogen, only much cheaper.)
Question: Doesn’t Scrubs‘ surprise renewal present a challenge for producers? I mean, last month’s finale already showed us what happens to J.D., Elliott, and Co. in the future! –Sydney
Ausiello: I posed that exact question to Bill Lawrence last week. Here’s what he said: “[The flash-forward epilogue] just showed J.D. and Elliott together, and I’ll stay true to that. Those two will still be together. But [next season] won’t be about tracing that relationship… There’s no possible way the show will succeed if it’s just more trials and tribulations of J.D. Zach is basically doing [an arc] to help us transition to a new show. It’s like if Hawkeye had done AfterMASH.” (Click here to see what Scrubs will be about next season.)
Question: Thoughts on Lauren Graham possibly joining Scrubs? –Shelly
Ausiello: Shhhh…you’re gonna jinx it!
Question: Any House scoop, other than the prolongation of Huddy after House leaves the loony bin? Translation: Why should non-Huddy fans tune in to House next season? –Luke
Ausiello: Because the Princeton Plainsboro that House left in the season finale will not be the same one he returns to next fall. And admit it, you’re dying to know how it’ll be different. “How [the hospital] works when he comes back will be different,” teases exec producer Katie Jacobs. “A doctor can’t check into a mental institution and just walk back into his job like nothing happened. We will not start forsaking reality. This [story] will have consequences.”
Question: How much of Cameron and Chase’s home life will we see next season on House? –Diane
Ausiello: Not much, according to Katie Jacobs. “I don’t know that we will show any more of their private lives than we have anyone else’s. The hospital stuff is first and foremost for us and everything we show furthers those story lines. I don’t think lovey-dovey, at-home relations is what people watch our show for.”
Question: As a huge Friday Night Lights fan, I absolutely loved your interview with Connie Britton. Is there any more news on who will be coming back next season? I live in Austin, and need to know who to be looking out for around town come September. –Amanda
Ausiello: In addition to Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, full-time returnees include Jesse Plemons, Taylor Kitsch, Aimee Teegarden, and Jeremy Sumpter. Adrianne Palicki, Minka Kelly, and Zach Gilford will likely be back for short-term farewell arcs.
Question: You don’t talk much about Raising the Bar. –Ben
Ausiello: I was waiting for someone to finally ask me about it! Producers are adding a young, idealistic female lawyer to the cast in a recurring capacity.
Question: Any idea who The Tudors will cast to play Henry’s final wife, Catherine Parr? –Chris
Ausiello: I only know who was at the top of their wish list: Gillian freakin’ Anderson! Sadly, I don’t think it’s going to happen.
Question: CSI: Miami scoop? Please tell me Delko survives. –Jennifer
Ausiello: Sources confirm that Adam Rodriguez will be back next season, so, yeah, I think it’s safe to say Delko survives. Meanwhile, we caught up with Rodriguez’s former costar, Rory Cochrane, at the premiere of his new film, Public Enemies, and asked him whether another Speedle cameo was in his future. His answer was, um, interesting. “I can’t really talk about it,” he said. “They talked to me about something that I cannot get into details about… I did come back once as a figment of Delko’s imagination, but I am pretty sure that is it for me on that show. I told them not to kill me but they didn’t take my advice.”
Question: I’m not happy that Bryan Fuller has left Heroes again. Remind me again why I should even bother watching next season? –Tricia
Ausiello: Because my good pal Greg Grunberg wouldn’t lie to you. Shortly after news of Fuller’s exit broke, Grunberg reassured fans via Twitter that the scribe is “leaving [Heroes] in great hands… the scripts for season 4 and the stories we’re about to tell will ROCK YOUR WORLD. BEST. SEASON. EVER.” Plus, if you quit watching now you won’t get to see a miniature version of Adrian Pasdar! My Heroes mole reports that the show is looking for a young actor to play an 11-year-old Nathan.
Question: Any goodies on the new season of Leverage for Parker and Eliot fans? –Kelly
Ausiello: If by “goodies” you mean “romance,” the answer is no — at least not in the season 2 opener. That’s not to say the July 15 premiere is devoid of action, though. The hour includes a car explosion, multiple gunshots, and a bone-crushing fight scene. And it definitely ends with a bang, er, three. Expect one character to get shot with not one or two, but three, bullets lodged in their chest.
Question: Is Jennie Garth going to appear in any episodes of 90210 next season? –Emil
Ausiello: There’s nothing on the books yet, but a rep for the show says “the intention is to have Jennie back next season.” In other 90210 news, former Law & Order ADA Elisabeth Rohm will guest-star as a robot bitchy socialite who locks horns with Naomi in at least one episode.
Question: I just read that Nip/Tuck wrapped production on its series finale on June 12. Got any spoilers on how it’ll end? –Bernd
Ausiello: I’m hearing that someone will get left at the altar.
Question: Can we get an update on Noah Wyle’s negotiations to star in Steven Spielberg’s new alien invasion pilot for TNT? –Kelly
Ausiello: Sure can: He’s definitely doing it!
Question: There’s a new season of Entourage right around the corner. Have you seen any of the new episodes? –Jonathan
Ausiello: Just screened the July 12 season premiere last night and I’m pleased to report that it focuses almost entirely on my favorite couple: Ari and Lloyd. Basically, Lloyd wants a promotion and Ari is having none of it.
Question: So does Ethan become the Vice President of 24 next season? Or maybe the new First Gentleman? –Chris
Ausiello: You’re wrong on both counts. According to an aide close to President Taylor, who asked not to be identified because he/she could get fired for talking to me, Ethan will be appointed the new ********* ** *****.
Question: Here’s a question: What the heck has the awesome Melinda Clarke been up to? –Tammy
Ausiello: Big scoop: She’s starring in a new TV series as a housewife by day and a spy by night. Unfortunately, the show isn’t real; it’s part of an upcoming Entourage subplot.

Ethan Kanin, new Sec. of State?
Same thoughts, Justin. Interesting, and well-deserved.
Great news about CSI:Miami, I was worried I’d have to stop watching.
I’m dreading seeing Zach, Adrianne, and Minka leave Dillon, but I’m sure they’ll get amazing send offs.
And with Heroes, there is seriously no hope.
I’m very disappointed that Matt is leaving next season on FNL, but I’m glad to see him get a happy ending. I’m interested to see how they incorporate Jeremy Sumpter though, as it appears he’s been promoted to a regular.
Pretty week Ask Ausiello this week, I was disappointed. Hope to see a better one next week. Lost, Greys, Desp HW, Office, Chuck, Private Practice, Smallville all left off. Hmmmm gotta go see what Spoiler Chat has this week, but I bet its better.
I guess Secretary of State would fit in.
Yea I get it I can’t spell weak.
We already know that Foreman will be running the department while House is gone and that neither Cameron nor Chase will be back in the department. So basically nothing will change from last year — lots of Huddy, lots of Foreman and Thirteen, no Cameron or Chase. Nothing is going to be any different at all.
Foreman screwed up the last four times he was left in charge. Is this what Katie Jacobs thinks is ‘reality’, putting him in charge yet again? It would have been the perfect opportunity to bring back Chase or Cameron for a while instead of the guy who keeps messing up if only David Shore could stop being so in love with Foreman and Thirteen.
I agree. Secretary of State.
well it’s a good thing i stayed up late tonight. i’m so glad the new episode of entourage is good. i was watching last season and i cant get over how horrible it was.
It seems that both’secretary of state’ and ‘commander in chief’ would work. Maybe Allison Taylor has new opposition in her bid for re-election?

Sorry about the duplicate post..
I’d love to see Lauren Graham joining Scrubs. She is great and so hot:

What?!? I thought all the talk had Zach Gilford STAYING on FNL? I will honestly cry if they write off Matt Saracen.
WORST…ASK AUSIELLO…EVER
No Gio Rossi in Ugly Betty, yet? When is Silvio Horta going to cut the expenses in horrible Patricia Fields clothing and pay good actors instead of going “on the cheap”. And what is this? Why are they “throwing obstacle” and continuing plotting the most BORING concept of love interest they created since Walter? (wait… at least Walter was funny)… since Jesse?!
“Lovable and blue-collarish” shouts GIO to the four winds. Fine, they know people want Gio. But are they really ignoring that what really made popular characters like Gio and Henry were the “Freddy Rodriguez” and the “Christopher Gorham” behind them? Shame on them… bringing mediocre actors to spite the viewers.
And… yet ANOTHER love triangle?! NEW Betty love interest?!
>:(
When are they going to drop this nonsense. We knew Daniel Eric Gold was going to be returned as regular. And this just confirms I am definitely not going to be watching this on my TV anymore. I will definitely catch this online when I get the time.
One reason why 24’s producers stink: Ethan Kanin’s character was Secretary of Defense in Season 6 in President Wayne Palmer’s administration. Palmer’s vice president Noah Daniels assumed office. Allison Taylor beat him in the next election, as we learned in the “Redemption” movie. So why in the world does a Secretary of Defense for one candidate become the Chief of Staff for the opponent? And now apparently he’s going to be Secretary of State. Just one of the many totally unrealistic and nonsensical little things that this show’s producers continually pull. Lost is a more believable show.
The Friday Night Lights scoop was almost perfect for me. I was so happy reading that Taylor Kitsch is going to be around full-time next season but was crushed to read that Zach Gilford will not. Tim and Matt have always been my two favorites and I was hoping that both of them would stick around despite the fact that their characters graduated. I will really miss Zach/Matt. I will also really miss Minka and Adrianne. Especially Minka because I really love the Tim/Lyla relationship, so I’m sad to be loosing that. =(
OMG!!! I really do hope that Katie Jacobe does not mean House comes back to PPTH as a duckling working for Foreman!!!! that would be more than I could stand!
Greg Grunberg: BEST. SEASON. EVER.
I call BULLSHYT!!!!!!!!!! He once tweeted that one of last seasons episodes was “BEST. EPISODE. EVER.” and it wasn’t even top 10, or even top 20. that dude just likes to hype and lie.
Zach Gilford leaves Friday Night Lights? Wow. Guess I won’t be watching then…
Got any scoop about the next season of Mad Men? It’s only a couple of months away but there’s no info about it!
I’m with the other posters who said Secretary of State.
As much as I like those FNL characters, I don’t need to see them come back for story arcs this year. Adriene Palicki and Minka Kelly’s characters got closure during the 3rd season. Zach Gilford’s character at least would make sense if he had an arc with the way they left it at the close of last year.
I do feel bad for the secondary characters associated with the characters who leave (like Smash’s mom or Herc) as we no longer get to have them on the show. To me, the secondary characters are as much a reason for the success of FNL as the regulars are.
I’m just relieved that Taylor Kitsch is coming back to FNL! Yay! Although my TV watching would be much improved by more Chase and less Foreman/13 on House. Please. I’m begging.
*sarcasm mode on* OMG House is about medicine and hospitals?! Really?! I thought it was merely about annoying Huddy stuff and Boreteen since season 5!!! *sarcasm mode off* Well, it’s true, season 5 actually gave the impression that the doctoring doesn’t count on this show anymore
But it’s good to know that KJ obviously has realized that most fans DON’T watch the show because of happy couples or other wannabe-couples stuff (i.e. Huddy, there’s nothing more annoying than that recently). Bringing Chase and Cameron back as doctors would definitely be a good start to get back to the medical stuff as well – maybe have them take over diagnostics and be in charge while House is gone? Show how much they’ve learned from House (which is a lot!)? I’d love that!

Heroes is SO OVER…Bryan Fuller has left it AGAIN? They shoulda killed it already…it’ll be fun to see how far the ratings slip, tho…dontcha think?
Lauren Graham possibly joining the new Scrubs? HOLY MOLY. I’m happier than ever about the prospects of this new Scrubs. I trust Bill Lawrence about this. It’s gonna be a different show, and I hope I like it.
Thanks for the House updates. Good, I like that there are consequences for House’s return from the looney bin. I even like it better that Chase and Cameron’s home relationship wouldn’t be shown much. Oh and, FINALLY some non-Huddy news. I’m wondering how the dynamic of the real show with me by its return. Better be good.
