As I previously reported, Glee producers were considering Whitney Houston for the part. But when she turned it down, Eve stepped up. (Who says no to the most buzzed-about series since… um, since I can remember?)

I’m shocked that Whitney Houston is passing on this. I mean she did that awful reality show and she won’t do something that looks as promising as Glee. She really is delusional about how big a star she is. Smart move Eve, stupid move Whitney.

I was hoping you were about to announce that Adam Lambert was guest starring on Glee. Several of the cast memebers tweeted the other day that he was in their studio. Any story on that?
This makes me sad because it leads me to believe that Whitney is not functioning well enough to handle the work.
Maybe Whitney feels she’s “above” TV…but it’s not like she hasn’t done it before. Good for Eve.

Please, Ausiello. “Most buzzed about series?” This site was the first to say that the numbers were pretty underwhelming for it following “Idol.” It’s the “most buzzed about” series since, what, “Cop Rock?” And we all know how that turned out.
Ok, lets be real here for a sec. A show being buzzed about, and a show being a hit are 2 completely different things. I watched the premiere, and was entertained, if not blown away. If I remember right, when Glee was on after the finale of American Idol, it still lost like 2/3 of the audience. What will it do on its own. And Whitney Houston is a big star. Yeah, she hasn’t done anything in a while, but love her or hate her, the woman is a legend. I’m not saying she should’ve said no, but its not like its a no brainer like you are all making it appear.
I think that Whitney Houston was probably making the final touches of recording her new album, so she couldn’t commit to a guest appearance on the Glee series. She’s too classy an artist to sign up for that and it don’t think she made a mistake at all by declining. But I like that Eve signed up for it. She’s done a TV series for a few years, so she can be able to do it.
Most Buzzed about series since…Pushing Daises, and we saw how well that went. Lets hope Glee does better.

Re: the “buzz” Usually only bland shows appeal to a wide audience. The truly great ones are appreciated by the people that matter, like us Ausholes.
Whitney’s obviously still on crack, and she’s been in her own world since the 80’s anyway. I certainly won’t miss her distinct inability to act. Bring on Eve!
“R&B superstar Eve”? Talk about sucking up. Her music career is in the toilet. She hasn’t had a hit single or album for like 5 years. I would see this move as something more like Eve grasping for straws.
I’m digging the guest roles on “Glee” this fall! I’m just hoping that they can con Neil Patrick Harris into showing up in an episode *Broadway jazz hands!*

Glee is one of the most buzzed about shows. If some of you would actually go and look for yourself you would see that. Cristics love it and so does almost everyone that has watched it. It has a HUGE fanbase after just one episode. “Don’t Stop Believeing” stayed on the Top 10 list on Itunes for over 3 weeks. and yeah the numbers dropped from American Idol, you wanna know why because American Idol is one of the most watched tv shows of all time. A new show no matter how good it is is going to have a major drop off from that. FOX themselves have said the 100% are behind seeing Glee through. They would spend as much money as they did for 13 episodes if they thought it was going to be a flop.
So Ausiello i think you are dead on. It is the most buzzed about show and it will probably be one of the only sucessful shows of the Fall because its written well, the acting is amazing, and there are no words to describe their singing.
Eve is not an “R&B” anything. She raps.
Whitney will be on the promotional tour of her life within the next few months. I can understand why she would turn it down.

Whitney Houston knows she is a singer before an actress. Unless she was heavily involved in the soundtrack of some sort, there’s no point in considering TV when she’s about to put out a comeback album. TV hasn’t ever been a big part of her career so why start now?
