T.R. Knight has released a statement confirming what I first reported on Wednesday: His Grey’s Anatomy days are over.
“Leaving Grey’s Anatomy was not an easy decision for me to make. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to play this character and will miss my fellow cast and crew very much. I continue to wish them the very best, and wholeheartedly thank all of the fans who have supported me and the show with such passion and enthusiasm.”
Meanwhile, Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes just followed with her own statement…
“I think I speak for the entire Grey’s Anatomy family when I say we wish T.R. Knight the best in his future endeavors. He is an incredibly talented actor and a person whose strength of character is admired by all of us.”
The official confirmation comes just hours after word leaked that Knight’s co-star and real-life BFF Katherine Heigl will be sticking around next season.
As I reported on Wednesday, Knight is currently in talks to headline a Broadway revival of Lend Me a Tenor.

By the way, I love how Heigl’s story is buried in the headlines when it’s another site that broke the story.
I’d rather they have killed off Izzie and saved George. I’m so sick of Heigl’s character. The only reason I watched last season was because of Kevin McKidd’s character, Ian Hunt.
I’m glad this whole “will they go or will they stay?” unnecessary drama is over with. Wish him all the best.

I am really tired of Izzie’s character… I hope they make her less annoying next season if indeed she’s coming back… It’s too bad that George is leaving but he hasn’t had any important part in forever, you kinda forget him already…
I’ll be sad to see George gone as a character. It was much easier to relate to him because he seemed more “real” than the more extreme characters of Meredith, Christina, and Izzie. That said, I think that T.R. could and should do better than what Shonda gave him this season.

This sucks. Now how are they going to resolve the bus crash / elevator scene from the finale? They just kick off the season with George dead? I would have rather seen Heigl bite the dust than TR.
Doess not thank Shonda Rhimes, the creator of the very show he thanks by name at all in this statement? Not surprising at all. I think the rumors of him NOT liking her were all extrememly true. Thank you TR Knight for the past five seasons and I will miss seeing you on the show every week.

I never got in to her character, it seemed like a blatant continuation of the character she played on Crossing Jordan. She was so prickly and nasty I never really bought into Callie falling for her. I don’t miss her at all.
One down, one to go. Hopefully the rumors of Heigl staying are just that, rumors.
I think both statements are BS. Knight is actually thanking fans for support, but I stopped caring the moment I heard he wouldn’t give his fans a three episode arc next season. What a great way to treat your fans bud. They could have written your character with proper closure. What a jerk.

I’ll miss George/T.R…loved his character. Maybe he will go on to be the next Tom Hanks? Something reminds me of a young Tom. Good Luck, TR…can’t wait to see what comes next for you!
