'Lost' scoop: Juliet mystery (sort of) solved

Categories: Lost

Elizabethmitchell_lAnd now for some news that should surprise no one: ABC is expected to announce tomorrow that it has picked up a reboot of the camptastic ’80s thriller V and that Lost heroine Elizabeth Mitchell is a full-time castmember.

Translation: She will not be returning to Lost as a series regular.

However, before you go declaring Juliet DOA from last week’s detonated hydrogen bomb, I should point out that this piece of scoop comes with a big but attached: Mitchell’s Lost days are not done. Multiple sources confirm that the actress is expected to appear in an unspecified number of episodes next season, so it’s entirely possible Juliet survived Jughead and her absence will be explained in another way. (Check out Doc Jensen’s column this Wednesday for a comprehensive Juliet theorypalooza.)

What do you think happened to Juliet? And are you as bummed as I am that we’ll be seeing less of her next season? Sound off below!

    Super bummed. Love her.

  • Jay

I’m as bummed as anyone that she won’t be around as much next season, but it makes sense that if the bomb really changed the future so that 815 didn’t crash, Juliet wouldn’t have met the castaways at the beginning of Season 3. My prediction is that Sawyer spends most of Season 6 searching for Juliet wherever she is in the new timeline.

  • john

yep, bummed….the juliet character is/was one of the best parts of the show

  • Siobhan

Well if they do get sent back to when they were on the train and it lands. They might not need her until later in the season anyway.

  • Siobhan

    I mean Plane!

  • jackie

I’m beyond bummed. But at the same time psyched, because I grew up watching V and she will be an amazing heroine!! She deserves her own show. She has been a star for sometime. I hope V takes off!

  • Brynna

    Nooooooooooooooooo. Juliet and Sawyer forever.

  • Ben

Juliet was my favorite female character on television… I’m glad she got a Charlie-worthy death but I hope that her appearances next season are more than just “dead people sightings” a la Hurley. Regardless, we’ll still see more of her than we’ll see of Desmond.

  • AskMitch

I’m more anxious to know if we’ll ever see Daniel Faraday again on LOST. Any scoop?

  • Special Agent Carmichael

Henry Ian Cusick who plays Desmond is, or at least has been, a “regular” the past few seasons but was only in about half of them this year. In season four, Harold Perrineau was listed as a regular for the entire season but didn’t show up til halfway thru, plus it spoiled the surprise of the return of Michael b/c everyone knew it was coming.
I think it’s great that Elizabeth Mitchell is in V, and I have faith that the writers and producers know what the’re going to do w/ Juliet’s story (and Penny also – Sonya Walger is on Flash Forward).
I for one would rather see the extra twists and turns come about in LOST’s final season b/c I know there are tons on the way.

  • Lorenzo

Ben, what do you mean we’ll see even less of Desmond? Do you have some casting scoop that others don’t? We NEED more Desmond, BROTHA!

  • leleana

EFF. Juliet is absolutely my favorite character, and she better as heck be in multiple episodes – AND not die!!

  • ars

That’s too bad. She is such a good actress and so hot:

  • Vetinari

I expect she’ll be alive but barely and will die after an episode or two in which they try to save her.
I’ll be very bummed if/when she’s dead, and also if they have done some sort of time reset that breaks up her and Sawyer. Juliet has evolved into my favorite character and her relationship with Sawyer saved season 5 of Lost. With Loss bleeding viewership, why alienate fans?
I don’t expect V to last, most new shows fail. So if she’s not on Lost much there won’t be much Elizabeth Mitchell on tv next season I reckon.

  • John

Ladies and Gents, Sawyer / Kate is officially over. No doubt the man’s heartbreak will make it impossible to even consider romance with someone else, and we’re all primed for one of LOST’s epic reunions (a la DesPen). Just be ready to say “AWWWWW”, I know I will!

  • kas

I always was annoyed by Juliet. I am happy to get her off my screen. I hope that she did die and that would give her a heroic death. I just hope she is gone.

  • RJ

“unspecified number of episodes” hopefully that means at least 6 episodes and fully alive, not dead Charlie-esque appearances or flashbacks

  • Cindy

Aw I love Liz so I want her to do well on V but man, am I going to miss Juliet being on a bunch. I also think most of the season will be Sawyer, or to Juju “James,” trying to find her

  • Jesse

    I’m bummed. I love Juliet!!

  • Brianne

NOOOOOOO, I seriously can’t believe Lost is letting EM go as a series regular. she’s the best female character. Why couldn’t they have strapped Kate to the jughead? She better be back on the island alive. Suliet forever.

  • Ang

Maybe we can get the REAL Sawyer back once she’s gone and put an end to the Suliet shenanigan.

  • twitterpated

Definitely not bummed that that Godawful Suliet won’t be on my screen anymore (go team Skate!) but I am bummed that Juliet is, in all likelihood, dead. I would liked to have seen a truly happy ending for her, reunited with her sister and nephew and not playing second fiddle to Kate for the rest of her life. And we all know that would have been exactly what happened if she had stayed with Sawyer. She deserves someone who holds her first in his heart.

  • Tam

I used to hate Juliet. Then I really started to like her. I really, really hope they don’t pull a Charlie with her.
But if the bomb did work, although I’m doubting it did properly, then she really wouldn’t be involved with the rest of the characters for any good reason, so working her back into the story would be pretty interesting.

  • devin

noticed as the bomb went off (if it even went off) there was that time travel white light. they’ll probably get shot back to the future right when the bomb goes off but hopefully juliet will bleed out from her already obtained injuries. i hate her character.

  • Mister F

I love Juliet! It’s always nice to have a strong female character swimming around a billion or so guys on the island, who can never get killed off.
Sadly, I think reset or no reset, I think she’ll die from sustained injuries. Ugh, and she would’ve been so close to the series finale!

  • ernie

they should bring back Juliet for a least a few episodes. She one of the deepest, smartest, & compelling characters on the series. Also, she has a great rack so that should count for something!!!

  • Rachel

Elizabeth Mitchell is an amazing actress and deserves her own show. She’s the reason I’ll give V a shot. Juliet and Sawyer saved season 5 of Lost and made it my favorite season yet. Juliet better be alive and well next season, and not some lame ghost haunting Sawyer either. I think Juilet deserves to have a happy ending after all she’s done.

  • Will

Annnnnnnnnnnnd, now I’m depressed again! Juliet is my favorite character.

  • Joe

Juliet having less screen time in LOST?
    FML.

  • Jenn

I’ve been following “V” news closely because I’m so terrified for Juliet.I hate that she won’t be a full time cast member but I will DEFINITELY take a recurring guest cast. Please, please, please, let her be alive!!!!!!!!!!!!! No lame ghost/island apparitions.
