Multiple sources confirm that ABC has pulled the plug on Samantha Who? after two seasons.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise considering ABC and the show’s producers appeared to be close to compromising on a cost-cutting measure that would have shifted the comedy from its current single-camera format to the more traditional (and cheaper) multi-camera model.
On the bright side, at least there will be closure: Per an ABC insider, seven unaired episodes remain in the network’s arsenal and the last one “feels like a series finale.” Of course, there’s no telling when or where those eps will be shown.

all these shows start off with a bang I loved samantha who one of the best shows on tv not talking hbo or showtime, it was a great show then they started to get to crazy with the writing to into theparent caractors and the show was boring. Bur samatha was great

Jerks…..she gave them her all and this is how they repay her? She said she thought they would be smart not to cancel and they were smart guys. Guess again Pumpkin. They’re just like the fools at Fox who didnt have the guts to tell you they canceled Married w Children to your faces. And these jokers wonder why no one watches TV any more (same bunch of geniuses who wonder why no one reads the newspapers)
yeah, that one was starting to go downhill anyway. (the is-sam-a-racist episode was painful.) the last ep i watched had sam agreeing to go on a date with todd. i prefer to leave it there.
No surprise, their budget was shot after renewing Scrubs. My opinion they picked the wrong show to save.

Looks like I am down to DWTS (guilty pleasure) and Lost. After Lost is over though, I think that I am done with ABC. So long Losers!!
Why does ABC continue to cancel its smartest and best shows? First Pushing Daisies, now Sam Who. I’m starting to wonder how in the world they agreed to keep Lost around (altho, I’m glad they did!)
So they’ll keep rubbish like “Dancing with the Stars” and other reality show fare, but cancel one of there few series which garnered an Emmy WIN?! And how many nominations?! It’s executives like that who are at fault for losing viewers and critics to cable shows!

Samantha Who is one of the best shows on TV. This is why the major networks keep loosing viewers because they invest their money in cheap reality shows and could give a heck about talent and creative shows like Samantha Who that make me us laugh on every episode. SHAME ON YOU ABC FOR CANCELING SAMANTHA WHO!
I can not believe they canceled this show. It was doing well after Dancing with the Stars and then they decided to be greedy, place another show in its place and had Samantha Who on Thursdays after that god awful show MommyHood or whatever it was called. First they canceled my beloved Pushing Daisies, then they temporarily shelved Ugly Betty and now this. Who is running ABC, Goofy?
I just shouted, “NO!” at my desk. This is horrible news! Samantha Who is SO funny. Ugh they were supposed to play like 7 eps this spring and did four and then it disappeared. I hope they at least put the unaired eps on the DVD.
I don’t get it. Scrubs has the same, if not less viewers. So why keep it, which had a sweet and wonderful end, and cancel this show, which was really getting awesome! PS it would have paired awesomely with Better of Ted.
Perhaps CBS will pick up Samantha Who. I think it would be great on Monday nights perhaps after Two and Half Men. Then it could win its time slot every week, win for best comedy and rub ABC’s nose in their stupidity. And EW is right, someone really needs to b*tch slap ABC
Scrubs is in it’s ninth season and is syndicated. SO it makes more money for ABC in the long run. So you can’t really compare the too.
STUPID STUPID STUPID ABC!! I guess after LOST is over I won’t be watching anything on their network. I hope they don’t try to say they gave it a fair shot because that did not happen. They just cut this season off completely. One week there was a preview for the following week, then the next week nothing – without a word of explantation that I could find. Hopefully the remaining unaired eps. will be on the DVD.

This is a shame. It was ABC’s most promising comedy, and considering that they have ordered a bunch of new comedy pilots, I’m surprised they didn’t want an established show to anchor them. (Scrubs doesn’t count because it will be in a transitional year and not really resemble its former self.) I liked Samantha but lost it with the crazy scheduling. The ratings dive on this one is ABC’s own fault, benching it in favor of Bachelor and then the ill-conceived move to Thursday. It could have been even more of a draw if they nertured it a bit more. I hope they air the leftover episodes.
They Axe this and Save Better Off Ted??? I liek the show, But Samatha at least got some Emmy Love and had a MUCH better cast???
ABC should be ashamed of itself. This was a very good show that was never given its own time slot. They moved it around a lot. They yanked it to give us nauseating longer versions of The Bachelor. Etc. Etc. How could this be cancelled but they gave Scrubs another season? GIVE ME A BREAK!

This is one of my favorite shows as was Pushing Daisies. Smart, witty comedy…So very disappointed. Obviously realty TV makes money. Will never understand why, it’s actually an embarrassment that people actually like the crap.
Well,this was the LAST show I was watching on ABC. Now I want a divorce. Too bad; Applegate (and her show) is funny and intelligent.
