I just made the following updates to my Fall TV Cheat Sheet:
• Fox: Sarah Connor Chronicles has been officially
canceled. “[Sarah Connor] has completed its run,” Fox entertainment
president Kevin Reilly confirmed at a press conference this morning. “I
think it had a nice little run. It was a good show. It was not an
either or [with Dollhouse]. We did see it tailing off a bit [in the ratings]. It had a nice creative core, but, ultimately, we made the bet on Dollhouse, so that’s it for [Sarah Connor]… We make no apologies. We gave it a lot of support and some consistent scheduling. We tried and thought it was time to move on.”
• CBS: Cold Case has been renewed for a seventh season. However, Without a Trace is looking “unlikely” to return, insiders confirm.
• ABC: The Unusuals has been officially canceled.
For up-to-the-minute renewal-cancellation-pickup scuttlebutt throughout upfront week, stay close to both my blog (the one you’re reading now!) and Twitter feed. I can’t believed Fox canceled Terminator:SCC!! Especially after it’s amazing finale, stupid economy!
I was also really enjoying the quirkiness of the Unusuals, I’ll miss not having a 2nd season.
It’s ridiculous that CBS would cancel WaT. It may be expensive to produce, but it’s still one of the top-rated shows. Yes, it’s dropped after they moved it and put it up against SVU, but it’s stood its own and still gotten high ratings. I’m shocked they’d renew Cold Case over it. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something else going on there.
Wahhhhhhhhh I am so sad that Terminator got canceled. I also like Without the Trace & I’m sad that its practically canceled.
I’m glad to hear that “Cold Case” has been renewed, but I’m extremely bummed about “Terminator”. Why would they cancel it now when the movie comes out on Thursday? They renewed “Dollhouse”, but not “Terminator”? Something is seriously wrong there.
It’s a shame. Now I’ll start Dollhouse just to see whether it’s worth getting NOT CANCELED and beating a show like TSCC. I know I know, do not blame our mates. Congratulations to them though and from now on we officially must try to get used to the fact: we won’t ever get any normal closure (the original films don’t count, they’re just crap). Aren’t there any channels which could renew it for a 3rd season? If they don’t put it on friday TSCC could have more viewers.
Is it the end of our hope? I guess…
Argh! how can they cancel Without a Trace???? really, CBS???
Can’t believe they are cancelling Without a Trace. Sad

Damn, no more TSCC.. i cant believe it. Please Scifi, pick up this series and show everyone what you can do with such an incredible show.
YAY!! Cold Case is coming back! While I used to love WAT, once they turned it into the Jack Malone show I stopped watching so it was over for me long ago. So now I have Cold Case and Chuck to look forward to so that is great!!
Am I the only one sad about The Unusuals? Well, I guess that’s why it’s getting cancelled. Not surprised about TSCC or WaT. The former got boring before it got good and just bled viewers. The latter hasn’t been good since they decided the only characters on the show were annoying Jack and whiney Sam.
Why should anyone invest in a network show anymore? They cancel any show not considered top 10 material and treat like dirt the viewers who are fans of the show.
Not that shocked that WAT looks shaky. Creatively the show lost it for me the second part of Season 4. Shame they did nt get a chance to wrap up the storylines properly. Hope Eric Close can come back strong with a new show sooner rather than later.
TSCC needed to get cancelled, but Without a Trace over Cold Case really?
Wow seriously? Canceling “Without A Trace”?? That sucks.
Meghan, you’re not alone. I’m terribly disappointed that ABC has canceled The Unusuals. I’m f***ing pissed, actually.
The Unusuals was one of my favorite new shows this year. It’s quirky and fun and has one of the best casts on TV. I absolutely loved Amber Tamblyn, Harold Perrineau, and Adam Goldberg. It’s the best cop show on TV (a million times better than the generic ones on CBS) and ABC barely gave it a chance.
I can’t believe ABC did this, especially after renewing Castle for another season. The Unusuals is much better than Castle, but Castle got lucky because ABC gave it the pimp time slot after Dancing with the Stars.
I should have known ABC would do this to The Unusuals. I never should have started watching it in the first place.
To Niels and the other TSCC fans: I just heard. D: You have my sympathies. As a fan of the late Wonderfalls, Firefly, Dead Like Me and other great little cancelled genre TV show, I empathize. A LOT.
I like Dollhouse (which thank god had gotten way better by the end of the season) but it’s lucky it got renewed at all… with it’s already low budget getting slashed and its running time trimmed. I was hoping for both to be renewed; no such luck.
As for why thoough, I know why: Warner licenses TSCC to Fox, and did so to promote “Salvation”. Now that “Salvation”’s out, they have no reason to give Fox cheaper license costs, so now Dollhouse is less expensive to produce (since Fox owns it, unlike TSCC), hence why TSCC gets axed when Dollhouse doesn’t.
Let’s get together and petition SciFi Channel to pick it up, huh? Or maybe The CW, which is owned by Warner? I would hate to see it go just as I’m getting interested in it! :\
Drat it. I was a huge fan of TSCC and I just can’t get into Dollhouse. Great mixture of action, sci fi, and character development. Fox you are making a huge mistake. I give Dollhouse one more season. I also watch The Unusuals for its quirky and fun escapades. My fall viewing just got slimmer. Oh well at least I have Bones.
FOX just made a mistake Canceling TSCC. With the Terminator coming out its going to bring new fans in, the movie going to be huge and set up for a run of three movies, hopefully sci-fi can pick it up.
Good grief! Okay, I know that a lot of good shows get axed when they shouldn’t and I can deal with it, but could they have at least not left us hanging with TSCC? I mean come on! If your going to ax a show the least the network could have done was have the writers give it a proper ending. I was so looking forward to next season and finding out what happened. That being said, I hope you’re right, Jamie, and SciFi does pick it up. At the very least to close out the show properly.
I’m actually shocked that Cold Case is coming back even though I love the show. Because of the music costs, it’s probably one of the most expensive procedurals on TV right now. How is CBS even making any money off Cold Case?
As for Without a Trace possibly getting canned, not really a surprise at all. I like the show, but as it’s getting older, the costs will keep going up especially Anthony LaPaglia’s salary.
Both Cold Case and WAT are produced are produced by WB, not CBS and I assume they just aren’t as profitable now as they were before.
It doesn’t make sense that Fox would cancel The Sarah Connor Chronicles a few days before Terminator Salvation opens. The movie would’ve helped boost the ratings next season! TSCC was an excellent show with wonderful acting, thought-provoking scripts, and superb character development. The show would’ve achieved big-time ratings next season specifically because the Terminator franchise is gaining popularity now. Stupid Fox!!!
Does anyone not get it? Once Terminator Salvation is released in theatres this week, there is no reason for FOX to keep TSCC on. They reduced the licensing fee to FOX as a promotional tool for the movie, but when Fall season comes around, the movie will be long out of theatres and there will be no reason for WB to discount the licensing fee.
You all also have to keep in mind the Ad market is horrendous right now and these shows aren’t profitting as much.
This Sarah Connor news is devastating to me. This may have ruined my Summer.
Too bad for the Unusuals, too- I liked the cast.
Hopefully the Sy Fy network – if it realy is a sci-fi network will pick up Sara Connor. But Fox made a huge mistake.
I’m so bummed about The Unusuals. I thought it was a great show. Now I’m sad.
I HAVE JUST FOUND!!! a really really good site… just type autostrada80.com on your browser to check it. it is definitely worth visiting it! uituiyujhkjuk
I guess I’ll just treasure the remaining The Unusuals episodes I get to see. Man, I thought that show was funny.
TSCC was my favorite show. I looked forward to watching it every week. Thanks to the cast and behind the scenes folks who put together a great show.
Fox renews the awful Dollhouse but cancells Terminator? That makes no sense at all.
They probably renewed Dollhouse to keep the Whedon fans at bay. This way they can milk out one more dvd set and then cancel the show next year.
I am so ticked off that Terminator is cancelled!! The movie comes out this week. Why not wait and see how it does at the box office and then build off of that audience with summer promos? Idiots…
I’m glad Cold Case got renewed mostly because of headlines like CBS give the Cold Shoulder. I Still have hope that Without A Trace will make it. It covers up the timeslot that has troubled CBS for quiet sometime.
