It appears the case of Kaley Cuoco’s disappearing Grey’s Anatomy guest stint has been cracked!
Although the actress’ rep says an unforeseen “publicity commitment” forced the Big Bang Theory star to back out of a top-secret appearance on Grey’s Anatomy’s May 14 season finale, multiple sources now tell me that it was her current employer, CBS, that put the kibosh on the deal. An Eye spokesperson couldn’t be reached for comment, but as one insider explains, “They didn’t want one of their biggest stars appearing on one of ABC’s biggest shows.”
As a result, Grey’s has tapped former O.C. starlet Shannon Lucio (she played Caleb’s illegitimate daughter, Lindsay) to fill Cuoco’s shoes.
Still unknown: Who the heck is she playing? Some of you initially (and understandably) speculated that, based on Cuoco’s resemblance to Katherine Heigl, perhaps the character is a relative of Izzie’s. That possibility seems less likely with the casting of Lucio… or does it? ABC isn’t spilling, so I once again open the floor to you guys: Do you still think there’s an Izzie connection to this character? And getting back to Cuoco, can you understand why CBS might not be keen on loaning her out to the competition? Sound off below!

I would have loved to see Kaley on GG! I think it might have something to do with Izzie… They are being very secretive about it and it is the seasonfinal ep soo it must BIG!

i’m surprised the episode airs in like three weeks and they haven’t even started filming the scenes she’ll be in. is filming usually done this close to the air date?

I kinda think it was unfair, yes. This isn’t the 20s anymore, when studios are all-powerful behemoths… at least, it shouldn’t be.
I still don’t get it. Grey’s Anatomy is higher-rated and has better demogrpahics than Big Bang, so why would CBS not jump at the chance to “cross-promote”?
In a way I don’t blame CBS for stopping her, but I wouldn’t want to piss off one of their biggest stars by stopping her from working on “one of her favourite shows”

Considering CBS’s “borrowed” Sarah Chalke from NBC (and “SCRUBS”) last season to guest on “How I Met Your Mother”, you would think that borrowing Kaley Cuoco from ABC wouldn’t be that big of a deal to CBS.
This is not acceptable and i am not referring to the news but to the fact that you are still behind this grey anatomy stuff.

Grey’s has been on for five seasons. It has established itself and has a loyal fan base. The show is consistently in the top 10 because it’s built it’s core fanbase and demographics. BBT has been on for 5 minutes. You can hardly compare the audiences at this point. Be thankful that at least CBS gave it a decent timeslot. Anything anywhere near 2 and a half Men is going to clean up whether it’s a quality show or not.

I think that this might come back and bite CBS on the butt when it’s time for Kaley Cuoco to renew her contract. I’m not saying she’d leave the show but I think it’s possible she might stick them for more money. I would. And she’s well known enough that I don’t think she’d be afraid to leave the series if she didn’t get what she asked for.
seriously, ask any joe blow on the street and ask them what networks is Greys or Big Bang on, I bet 90% will not know or even know they are on different networks. Again it’s big networks honchos not thinking like the average TV watcher, and the above average TV, well are they watching or care?

I’m sad Kaley Cuoco won’t be able to appear on Grey’s Anatomy! But I don’t think that them casting Shannon Lucio necessarily means that her character and Izzie won’t be related. I think Shannon Lucio still looks a bit like Katherine Heigl. It’s just in a different, less obvious way.

What a weird move on CBS’ part. I don’t think “Big Bang Theory” and “Grey’s Anatomy” really have the same audience; “Grey’s” are probably more likely to remember Kaley Cuoco from “8 Simple Rules.” Don’t you think it would have been advantageous to CBS to have Cuoco generate some interest in her on “Grey’s” and then possibly bring some new young female fans over to “Big Bang”?

Ahhhh it’s Lindsay! I hated her on The OC (really only becasue she was with Ryan and I love Ryan/Marissa) but she’s a good actress, so I’m okay with it hah
