The mystery surrounding Kaley Cuoco’s top-secret role in Grey’s Anatomy’s May 14 season finale has been solved! She’s playing… no one!
A spokesperson for the Big Bang Theory star just released the following statement: "Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts on behalf of The Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco regrettably will be unable to guest star on the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. Kaley is a big fan of Grey’s Anatomy and hopes to work with them in the future."
Is there more to this story than meets the eye? You tell me: BBT wrapped production for the season last Tuesday and Cuoco clearly told us that she wasn’t needed on the Grey’s set until this week. Sounds a little fishy, right? Let me put my detective hat on and see what I can suss out.
THIS JUST IN: Cuoco’s rep just e-mailed to say, "To clarify, it was a publicity related commitment, not a production conflict."

Oh crap. This is fail on a Gossip Girl-meets-30 Rock level or the Kristen Bell on LOST anticlimax. Hey there’s a suggestion; Why not have Kristen Bell take the guest spot!?

The only thing I can see is that ABC was trying to get her permanently, but CBS cut the ties.

That figures, I’m not sure what to believe. She could just be having a bad attitude, but she does already have a full time gig on TBBT, so she definitely doesn’t need the money or the exposure.

Since so many question CBS’s motives .. the “proof” will be in seeing what publicity they actually do that week for TBBT.

What show is on CBS against Grey’s? CSI? My bet is THAT show’s people put a call in to Moonves and the brass at CBS to keep this from happening. Can’t do anything to help take away ratings from one of your highest rated (if not THE highest) shows on the network.

Or she has been kicked off the show cuz she talked. Could be TPTB got mad she told “people” she was going to be on the show, so this is her punishment.
Here’s what happened: she committed to the show without knowing the character or the details (as per her quote in the earlier article)…then she found out what crap Shonda Rhimes and her goon squad hack writers came up for her, and she said “NO THANKS!!!!!!!!!”
I’m actually really curious what this is about! I agree with another commenter: maybe ABC is pissed that she told people she was going to be on the show, and her punishment is being kicked off?
Maybe they will have another “surprise” star playing her role instead (I think we were right: Izzie’s sister!) ABC is probably pissed because they didn’t want everyone knowing they hired a blonde, 20 something actress who looks like Heigl for a secret role.

About 3 hours ago. So. My guess is CBS either had a problem with her on another network(which you would think would have been cleared much earlier than this) or Shonda had some last minute changes thrown in. Who knows.
Either way, I don’t think it was because she talked. Actors/Actresses are aware of what they are allowed to say and what they’re not. I don’t think her statements made any difference.
She realised the show was a steaming pile of turd. No surprises there !
They should write this in for her character on TBBT. She’s up for a part on GA and even shows up only to find out she didn’t get the part after all. The guys could prep her to help her learn all the medical jargon and then end up consoling her after she’s “fired.”

Cindy, that’s an excellent idea but wouldn’t they get into trouble for ripping on another network? However, it would be nice for Penny to address that side of her character without her turning into a Joey Tribbiani clone.

I’m guessing that Kaley was supposed to keep her appearance a secret and she blabbed so Shonda axed it.
I also think its possibly that Big Bang wasn’t happy about her doing a spot on another network to air in competition to their network during may sweeps, so they gave her fair warning to back out of it. I can’t blame them from trying to avoid Grey’s people poaching her from their show.
