Iconic sex symbol Kathleen Turner is joining Showtime’s Californication for a recurring arc during the dramedy’s upcoming third season, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Turner will play the ball-breaking, foul-mouthed, outrageous boss of Evan Handler’s literary agent. She’s Ari Gold without the poison sushi allergy penis!
A Showtime rep declined to comment, but Turner’s spokesperson, Alan Nierob, confirmed that the Oscar-nominated actress would be spending three months in Los Angeles shooting the role.
Season three of Californication is slated to debut next fall.

Californication had an OK start, but it went all over the place the first season, and the second season was unwatchable.
I’m a bit of a sleazeball, but the second season of Californication even made me go “ick.”

Yeah I enjoyed season one but you’re right, season 2 was over the top. I gave up like 3 episodes in. Haven’t watched one since. I have a perverted mind but it was still too much.
IMHO I liked the Bromance and sentiment of the second season, the over the top situations made it more enjoyable. It is meant to be funny right?
i’m not trying to be mean here, but um, did anyone at EW see kathleen turner in ‘marley and me’?? or did kathleen turner’s publicist write this piece directly for EW? maybe ’sex kitten icon’ worked in 1987, but i’m not sure what universe that works in now. maybe a more apt (and kind) bio for 2009 would be something along the lines of “seasoned character actress” ?
the second season was no worse than the first, sex-content wise. and even if you perceived it as such, at least Hank’s character was no longer the center of it, since he was trying to get it together, as it were.
i thought the 2nd season was “sweeter” and more sensitive than the first. I love this show.

I loved, loved, LOVED season 2. LOVED it. But Kathleen Turner, last seen as Chandler’s dad on Friends, an “iconic sex symbol” ??? I just shriveled.
She was so beautiful in ‘Body Heat’. She’s one of those actresses that doesn’t believe in plastic surgery, I guess, but she should have it.She would look alot better. It hasn’t hurt Dolly Parton to get surgery, and she’s about 10 years older than Turner.
Only a Jackass would write “who is KT?” Here role as Maddie in Body Heat is the classic sex goddess movie role of our time!
Just watched the 1st two episodes of season 3 ‘Californication’ Kathleen is great, but what a man ! I love the show !
Kathleen Turner has suffered from chronic rheumatoid arthritis for many years- a painful and debilitating disease. The disease and the medications used to fight it take a huge toll on a person’s body. Steroidal drugs (cortisone, prednisone, and others reduce inflammation and pain but produce serious side effects. Broadening of the face is one, which is evident in KT’s appearance.
She was told she would end up in a wheelchair, which she refused to accept, and has had knee replacement surgery due to degeneration from the disease.
I commend her fighting spirit and her willingness to be seen the way she is, accept herself the way she is, and not feel sorry for herself.
She at one point started to drink to numb the pain, became alcoholic, then overcame that.
Not an easy road for her.

I am 47! I suffer the same other then the drinking. But understanding “HORRIBLE PAIN” I can understand why she drank. I have a high pain tollerance which isn’t always a good thing.
I suffer from RA, it left me with rods, screws, a cage fake bones and so on in my spine. I recently got hurt and broke my rods, I need a double knee replacement which RA was in one and have injured my neck also. I never thought 47 would be so hard, I have lost 2 inches in height alone. Morning that are damp or cold I wake with horrible pains in my hands and feets. I saw KT with out shoes tonight in her show and picked up on the RA asap. I was also effected with all the drugs the steroids left me pre-diabetic and they thought it was menopause..ha! Well, you loose eye brow hair, your face is puffy and so many other things. I understand and I feel bad for her. My gosh it is no easy road ahead for her. I can NEVER have steroids again so all these issues will get no help other then pain meds or a shot. There is NO CURE FOR IT PEROID!
We live in a world where the body has to be perfect……….what ever happened to seeing inside of someone the real core of who each of us are. I have always been a big fan of hers. Let me tell you I busted out laughing tonight she is BETTER THEN EVER……….KEEP ON SHAKING KT YOU ROCK! You are as pretty NOW as you were THEN!

Did you watch the episodes with KT? I didn’t know it was her, but she was awesome! I loved her character.It makes me laugh so hard, and there really are some women in the business like that.
