Julianna Margulies is heading back to court.
The ER vet has been tapped to headline the CBS drama pilot Good Wife, sources confirm to me semi-exclusively. The potential series focuses on a politician’s wife who pursues her original career as a defense attorney.
Margulies, who will slip back into Nurse Hathaway’s scrubs on ER next Thursday, is no doubt hoping Wife fares better than her last law-based series, Fox’s short-lived Canterbury’s Law. The Denis Leary-produced drama was axed after just six episodes.
Glad Margulies isn’t giving up her legal ambitions without a fight? Or is it time she moved on to another faux career? Comment away!

Good luck to you Julianna–sounds like CBS would be very fortunate to have you in a series, but unfortunately I just read CBS will only be picking up 2-4 pilots for their fall schedule, and they’ve ordered over a dozen, so the chances for a pickup are slim-to-none.
You Go Girl !!! Wishing you lots of luck !!! Can’t wait to see you back at the ER !!! I miss you a Carol !!!
It has been such a long time I have been waiting to see her on the big screen again. i hope she gets to act tough.
I frickin’ loved Canterbury’s Law and I loved Julianna in it. It’s horse sh** that quality shows like that are overlooked for the trash that get millions and millions of viewers.
Julianna is such a great actress. I’m just glad to see her in another project. I’m not a big fan of lawyer shows but I will check it out. I think she’d be great for Leverage on TNT though or pair her up with Michael Vartan on his new show.
I usually love Julianna’s work, but her character on Canterbury’s Law was unlikable, over-the-top obnoxious, and incredibly grating. Poor writing (a whole cast of completely vile characters is bad)killed that show fast. Hopefully, she’ll have a more balanced role in this new show.
I can only hope this’ll be as good as Canterbury’s Law. A really great show and it was a pleasure to watch Julianna in such a complex, meaty role. If it wasn’t for Damages, it would probably have run on FX and would still be on! No hating on Damages; I can just see that they wouldn’t be too keen on having two such similar shows on at the same time.
I loved Canterbury’s Law and was so disappointed when it was cancelled! What are the chances they can get Aiden Quinn for this one as well?
Canterbury’s Law was a great show; loved both Aidan Quinn and Julianna’s characters.

Canterbury’s Law was a great show and I still miss it oh-so-much. I hope that if this show is anything like CL that it will last.
I loved canterbury’s law! I am still so upset that it was canceled! I wish that fox had a half the brain and kept it running but actually give it the attention it needs!!
