Love Dean Winters in as many shows as he can handle. Does Medium scoop mean you know something about where NBC's 10 p.m. shows will be going after Leno zooms in on their time slot? Do tell. Please.

Indeed, the range of an aggregate of studies falls between 5-10% (re: 1994 NORC Sex Study, the 1976 and 1981 Hite Reports, the CDC study of American Sexual Behavior, etc.). Any data on homosexuality by the US Census should be disregarded, as the most recent census in 2000 failed to directly survey sexual orientation. And many reports claiming less than 4% have neglected to account for bisexuality. If only studying the sexuality of males or females, the rates are indeed closer to the claim of 2%. Please elaborate on why you thing the Kinsey report was "BS."

Actually, Billy is much closer. The 10% thing is BS made up by Kinsey. Even really generous estimates from pro-gay studies put the number at around 5%. Self-reporting for official surveys (like a census) is only around 2%.

Very snarky, pitifuly nit-picky remark:
Was EW unable to get a picture of Kyra, so they opted for a somewhat realistic painting instead? That left-third of the photo looks... so out of place.
Very excited that Dean Winters will be back on Terminator. Even more excited about Life on Mars. That should make for some excellent television.

I think the natural rate of homosexuality in a human population is closer to around 10%, not 2%. Claiming 50% of characters portrayed on television shows are homosexual is a gross exaggeration. And it does seem a majority of those portraying homosexual characters are women and bisexual women, despite the lower rates of female homosexuality. But all that can be easily attributed to the fact that America, despite all the progression amidst the centuries, is still a patriarchal society, still acting on and thinking with flawed traditional ideologies. Until society is prompted by compassion to change, distancing from oppressively and offensively androcentric thought and moving forward to true egalitarianism, the objectification bisexual women will continue to be paraded on television shows in their misguided attempt not to alienate that aforementioned +-10% of the population.

Why are 90% of the gay people on TV women? Weird. Why are 50% of people on TV shows now gay, when 2% of people call themselves gay?
Has anyone else seen this site where you can win prizes while using Google as your
search engine?

Fellow Smallville fans, hurray for Season 9!
