Here we go again.
The ongoing soap opera concerning Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight’s uncertain Grey’s Anatomy futures took another crazy turn today when co-star James Pickens Jr. confirmed to US Weekly that both actors are indeed leaving the show.
“Yes, she is,” Pickens said when asked if Heigl was checking out of Seattle Grace. “Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her
nothing but the best.” And what about Knight? “He’s going too,” Pickens said. “He just wanted to pursue other career paths.”
ABC isn’t commenting, but here’s what sources close to the situation are telling me about Pickens’ comments: Dude jumped the gun.
While it’s hardly a secret that Heigl and Knight want off the show,
Alphabet execs have yet to officially issue the actors their Get Out of
Jail Free cards. Unofficially, however, all indications are that it
will happen. The only question now is when.
“Right now, the whole thing is in the hands of their agents and
ABC’s lawyers,” explains an insider. “Something will probably be worked
out soon, but it’s a safe bet that Katherine and T.R. won’t be
returning as series regulars next season.”
If you believe the rumors, Heigl has been trying to wiggle her way out of her Grey’s
contract for the better part of the past two years. (She’s a movie
star, people!) Knight, meanwhile, approached the show’s producers last fall about making an early exit. As I previously reported, the Isaiahgate survivor has been frustrated by his lack of air time. “He’s an actor. He wants to act,” a Grey’s insider told me at the time. “It’s that simple.”
One possible wrinkle that may be delaying an official announcement: Grey’s
boss Shonda Rhimes may want Heigl and Knight to briefly reprise their
roles next season. “There’s talk of one or both of them doing an arc in
the fall,” whispers a Grey’s snitch. “That’s one of several things being discussed.”

WOOHOO – Bye Bye Katherine don’t let the sound stage door hit you in the &^% on the way out. I am glad she is leaving, I never liked the character and because of all the fuss about writing that KH made last year I grew to dislike the actress as well.
Sad to see TR go I liked George in the early years but the past two have been crap. He has a right to complain about the writing….
“All the fuss” she made one comment when asked. All the fuss came from the media as ever. If Heigl leaves Grey’s dies. I give it one more season max.

I have to say that I am relieved that Katherine Heigel is leaving, if it is true… her character arc this season only served to irritate me, as it seemed to be forced in between much more interesting and much better written storylines, However, T.R. Knight will be missed, as he always seemed to rise above whatever he was in, no matter how ridiculous. I am sure that there is something out there for him that will honor his talent and put it on the back burner for foolishness like the current Izzy/Denny situation. I look forward to seeing his future work, and hope Heigel does not get trapped in the vicious circle of rom/coms that she seems to be on.
this just makes me so much happier that i don’t watch the show anymore because with them both leaving it’s as good as dead anyway
If Izzie goes, I go. I’ve only been watching still for Alex and Izzie.
This completely sucks. If she is leaving they knew about it. Instead of giving fans Alex & Izzie in her final year they instead did the ridiculous storyline with Denny. If its true I am not watching anymore. I have no desire to watch Izzie die and be with Denny.
Good for Katherine jumping off the sinking ship. She can do much better then the drivel they give her on the show.
I have nothing against either one of them, but they are not why I am still watching Grey’s. The coupling of Meredith/Derek and Cristina and Owen are what have me hooked. I wish them luck.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they do leave the show eventually. It sure seems that they are setting Katherine Heigl’s character up to leave based on the latest story line with Denny. I don’t think either of them could save the show or that the show would die because they left. I think the show might collapse due to bad story lines especially with Izzy and Denny, which has turned off a tremendous amount of viewers. The solution here is to give the actors better story lines.
I watch for Alex/Izzie. Guess I will be watching something else now at 9.
Both are decent actors, but thank god, Izzy will be gone. She’s easily the most annoying character on tv.
As an A/I fan I am pissed. I sat through damn Denny and now Izzie is leaving? Deleting GA from the DVR, done!
The show has jumped the shark. I’d leave too.
Grey’s has become a parody of itself. I only watch it to make fun of how ridiculous it has become.

T.R. Knight is leaving? After all that fuss in which he got Isaiah kicked off the show? Waste of time!!! What is he going to do now? Another L&O:CI episode? This show is his only outlet. Heigel has gotten movies out of it but what has he got?
I just don’t understand why the actors and the fans are suprised by the ebb and flow of story lines. You have to take Grey’s for what it is: a SOAP OPERA. Some stories and therefore characters are center stage for specific story lines and go into the background for others. I adore this show for it’s campiness as well as it’s ability to find itself ridiculous. It’s just too bad the actors can’t recognize it themselves!
Katherine and TR are smart for getting off this show. Grey’s is a trainwreck.

I am with you guys. I have been so close to dropping Grey’s altogether. The Izzy/Denny storyline nearly did it for me but for some reason I still watch it. What makes me mad is no one cares what the viewers want. The writers know how hated that story line is yet they let it drag on and on and on…

Its called GREYS anatomy.. Not stevens anatomy. I for one am completely annoyed by meredith, but the show ultimately revolves around her. Izzie has become an even bigger irritation. Im overjoyed at the thought of her leaving. Professionally and more importantly personally, heigl is annoying. There are other more deserving characters on the show. And im certain it doesnt need heigl to continue to be successful!
No Izzie & Alex then Grey’s is dead to me. I put up with Denny for no payoff and I won’t be tuning back in.
About time.. i cannot stand either one of them.. Maybe I’ll watch if they also get rid of Callie and her revolving door of lesbians…
I hope Justin Chambers leaves too. Without Izzie he will get even less then the 2 minutes of screen time he gets now.
The only thing that upsets me about this news is its impact on Justin Chambers’s character. It seems like Alex should get his shot at happiness, too, and this will spoil it for him.
