How’s this for a Law & Order twist: Benson and Stabler had a secret love affair 20 years ago that resulted in a son — and we’re about to meet him!
Just kidding… about the love child part.
While it’s true that SVU is welcoming a new, young male character — played by Noel Fisher, late of FX’s The Riches — he’s not the product of a torrid circa 80s B/S romp. Rather, sources confirm to me exclusively that Fisher has been cast as a rookie crime scene sleuth, a nerdy, eager beaver-type who is in awe of Benson and Stabler.
He’s slated to appear in at least four episodes, the first of which will air in April.
Sorry about the bait-and-switchy lead, but there’s only so much you can do with "new crime scene guy," you know?

I really liked him on Bones this week.
when i saw the first couple lines in google reader, my first thought was “no effing way!”
thanks for the lunchtime letdown ausiello…but i still love you!
“had a secret love affair 20 years ago that resulted in a son” this is why ILU
Wasn’t he also on Life? When I saw him on Bones last week I got really confused and fused the two shows in my head and thought that crazy psychopath who locks victims in a box was somehow Booth’s friend. I clearly watch too much TV.
I too really enjoyed his appearance in Bones. He was also really good in a recent episode of Life. Gotta say, though, I’d much rather have read that he was being cast in the new NCIS spinoff. I never could get into any of the Law and Order shows, but I might actually have to watch his episodes of SVU.
ya he was great on Bones last week. I look forward to seeing him on SVU
He reminds me of a young Toby from ‘The Office’ …
I wonder if this means new lead actors on SVU for next year???
I loved him on Riches (still sad it was cancelled – such unique story) and Bones last week so I’m glad he’s getting good roles – he’s an actor that deserves them!
Yeah this kid was part of what is probably my favorite episode of Life. He’s been in a lot of stuff. I think he got blown up in one of those Final Destination movies too.
along those lines of what I just said about him being an actor that deserves opportunities .. I know a lot of times we talk about the actors that don’t get what the deserve, but what about all of the actors who aren’t that good, but still get a million opportunities because they’re hot, well-connected, big in tabloids, etc. Those always bother me – do you guys have those?
This is another terrific young actor who deserves to be a series regular on a great show. SVU is such a good show, with very talented actors and writers so he should fit in well. I like how he’s been playing a wide variety of characters since The Riches went off the air. It’s a great way to show his range.
(gwyneth paltrow for one. She’s not that great, kind of stuck up – but got an oscar?)
He’s a fantastic actor. He has this uncanny ability to make viewers love him, hate him, or anything in between, depending on the role. I look forward to seeing what he’ll do on SVU.
Canadian! WHAT WHAT! HOLLA!
