Here comes the neighborhood!
With Smallville producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer now officially installed as showrunners, The CW at last has revealed who’ll be moving into its remodeled Melrose Place next season. (Well, they’ve revealed the characters at least; the roles have yet to be cast.) As you’d imagine, there are some familiar types among the tenants.
Wanna meet ‘em? Come on!
The new Jake and Amanda are… David Patterson and Ella Flynn. He’s
Melrose royalty, the now-grown son of the original Jake, with the taut
abs and thick black book to prove it. She’s his omnisexual sometime
lover, a PR whiz whose tongue is as sharp as her stilettos.
The new Billy and Allison are… Jonah Miller and Riley Richmond. He’s a
Kevin Smith wannabe whose obsession with his movies is unlikely to give
him a happy ending with his sickly-sweet schoolteacher fiancee –
especially when she takes a shine to the glamorous life he loathes.
The new Matt is… Auggie Kirkpatrick. A hunky hippie, this recovering
alcoholic is willing to give everybody the benefit of the doubt. No
word on whether the word sucker will be tattooed on Debbie Downer’s
forehead, but come on…
The new Jane is… Lauren Bishop. Sort of an anti-Michael, this
straight-arrow med student falls on such hard times that she’s forced
to pull a Sydney and trade sexual favors for financial ones.
The new Sydney is… Violet Foster. Though she’s fresh off the turnip
truck, this small-town teen already has a worldly-wise m.o.: play the
sex kitten till you’re ready to bare your claws.
So what do you think? Are you interested in seeing Melrose Place
renovated? Or should this property have remained condemned? I’m
thinking Scott Porter and Amanda Seyfried as David and Ella. Got any

Boo! Hiss! The madness has to stop! I can’t be the only person out there that enjoys ORIGINAL programming? Just seeing this picture of Grant Show makes me miss Swingtown.

I don’t know much, but what I think is that Amanda Seyfried is way better than some Melrose Place remake.
I don’t see the problem of remaking…no offence but the viewers CW going for never heard about the “original” melrose place…or it was before their time…
Michael made the show. Michael was the show. Jake’s son. Whatever. If they are going to redo a show they should base it off of Michael’s child. Most of the characters who came on the show was connected to Michael in one way or another. But to be honest…DON’T REMAKE MELROSE! That was a campy, guilty pleasure type show. You just can’t redo it.
Are they really going through with this??? Why a Melrose Place 2.0? Not a good choice. Boo! After hearing this news, what’s going to happen to a Smallville Season 9? Please bring on another season of Smallville!
LOVE, LOVE Scott Porter as David…Amanda Seyfried would be great, but what about Kristin Cavallari…not sure about her acting chops, but she has got playing the b***h part down pat!!!

I loved the original, not sure how I feel about a remake but would probably at least try it. They definitely need a Michael-like character. It would not have been Melrose without Michael.
I agree with you No More Remakes. WTF. Come on people get an original idea. All of those starving writers with brillant ideas & they have to remake Melrose Place? Gee what is next? Seinfeld? Dallas, The Next Generation, The New Jeffersons? I mean, I thought that is what SoapNet, Nick @ Nite & TvLand were made for, repeats of shows.
I’ll all for anything that gets Scott Porter back to my television screen on a weekly basis. Amanda Seyfried would be a nice draw as well. Otherwise, I probably won’t tune in. It’s going to come down to the cast.
Don’t remake Melrose unless they are going to make it current and up to date, ie a more mixed race cast, at least one gay character, it would be cool if you had a gay guy and a lesbian, and have some more current issues/topics. I mean its set in California, the most ethnically and sexual identity diverse state in the US!
I forgot Jake had a son. That’s a nice tie-in to the original. But they totally need to lure Thomas Calabro back to be the evil landlord!

Totally stupid. Why can’t the Networks come up with new and original stuff. Melrose Place ended for a reason way back whenever, because it sucked! And to steal from Smallville, the CW’s longest running show, is just ridiculous. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to rehash this cat-box of crap should shoot themselves now and do us all a favor.
k, so TOTAL longshot here, but i’ve developed a huge crush on a certain super hot male flight attendant from snakes on a plane. what’s THAT guy NOT doing on a rehash of melrose place. just think about it…

So The CW only has 10 hours of shows a week, and now 4 of them will be GG and it’s spinoff and 90210 and it’s spinoff? No one why only 2 million people watch their crap shows.
The only reason the original “MP” had any success was when they made the decision to bring in Heather Locklear. So wonderful that this ridiculous network that cancelled “Veronica Mars” is now going to produce another piece of crap that will get worse ratings than Ms. Mars ever did, just like 90210 is.
Keep the property condemned please.
Totally not interested in Melrose Place, but after the travesty that was Power and Requiem, the show is welcome to take Slavkin and Swimmer from Smallville with my blessings.
This show would only damage Seyfried’s chances at continuing to get good film and television work. Stay on cable Amanda!
Why are you so obsessed with Scott Porter?
There are only three reasons why I would watch this show again and they are: Jack Wagner, Heather Locklear and Thomas Calabro. Without those 3, who cares?
Because of the Lana arc in the 8th season, Slavkin and Swimmer being removed from Smallville was the best thing happening. I hope a 9th season for Smallville will happen. I’m very disappointed with the Lana arc.

Wasnt Jake’s last name “Hanson”? So how could David Patterson be his son? Unless his mom got re-married, or his mom never married Jake I guess… As for Amanda Seyfried as the new “Amanda” character, thatd be awesome, would love to see her in more shows,
A remake is stupid. Go back and what the original instead. The show was made by GRANT SHOW, THOMAS CALABRO, HEATHER LOCKLEAR etc. Without them, who cares?!?
