Maybe this will get ABC to reconsider that whole open-ended hiatus thing.
The acerbictacular Christine Baranski is joining the cast of Ugly Betty as a woman whom Betty may eventually call mom.
I kid you not.
Okay, I kid you a little.
The Emmy winner will play the high society mother of Betty’s new love
interest, Matt (Daniel Eric Gold), in a minimum of three episodes.
As I previously reported, Betty meets sports writer Matt at YETI in the
Feb. 19 episode and the couple-to-be are tasked with shadowing one
another at their respective jobs.
Baranski, who just wrapped a stint as the woman who spawned Johnny
Galecki’s Leonard on CBS’ The Big Bang Theory (airing Feb. 9), is slated
to show up in mid-March, right around the time Betty starts warming the
bench for ABC.
But let’s focus on the positive: This casting rocks!

LOVE “Ugly Betty” and have never been able to STAND Christine Baranski. Hope she doesn’t ruin the show for me.

You’re right: must focus on the positive! I like Baranski well enough. I think it was a wise choice and I can’t wait for her to make Betty’s life impossible (wait, is Betty aiming for rich kids now? what’s next, Daniel?). Okay, going back to the “positive”. All is left one of these days, to keep the good news rolling, is to hear that Freddy Rodriguez will sign again to play funny, sexy and smart Gio. I am waiting for the news. Don’t disappoint me, Ausiello.

Hopefully they’ll keep her longer than they kept Ralph Machio and Bernadette Peters. Bring them back!!

I saw Daniel Eric Gold in a play a year or so ago in New York when he was still a struggling actor. He’s soooo adorable. I think its gr8 that they casted him. And I knew him when!!

I adore Christine Baranski, what a great addition. And ditto for Daniel Eric Gold being so adorable, His Aflac and McDonald commercials just kill me. I can’t wait to see him in the new Kiera Knightley movie and Ang Lee Woodstock movies.
i dunno why but that Christine lady has always bothered me in everything i’ve seen her in, especially Mamma Mia. i dont want her to ruin a good show like Ugly Betty but it’s just a temporary role…right?
Christine Baranski is awesome in everything she does! Although the character is a little type casted (CB fans will know why) I know that she will do a great job, as best as she can! Finally a reason to watch Ugly Betty (watched th original one)
Yea! She’s fabulous. Sucks that we’ll have to wait so long to see it. ABC quit alienating the fans and keep it on a regular schedule.

Okay the casting does rock, but as a fan since it first aired, the wind of things has changed and it isn’t the same anymore. I think the who Charlie thing took it away. Can we please stop putting Betty in bad outfits? She works at Mode but dresses worse than when she came in. Oh yeah: Pushing Daises rocked and it’s going to be missed RIP

Christine Baranski needs to be back on tv FULL-TIME. glad she’s gonna be on ‘Betty’ but the mere thought of her being Leonard’s mother on ‘Big Bang Theory’ (arguably THE funniest show on right now) just makes me extremely H-A-P-P-Y!

thinking about Christine Baranski on ‘Big Bang Theory’ ~ just imagining her and Jim Parons (Sheldon) inter-acting just makes me laugh. they’re both comic gems. throw in Leonard, Penny, Rajesh, and especially Howard, well….tv just doesn’t get much better than that. **no disrespect to Sara Gilbert (a talented actress) but she doesn’t fit in with the rest of the talented cast. the writers started her off as smart, savvy scientist but then turned her into a scientific Darlene from ‘Roseanne’. hope they either make Leslie Winkle more likeable and less the man-buster she is now (and was as Darlene Connor) or just let the character disappear. she hasn’t been on the last few episodes and frankly, she wasn’t missed or needed**
Christine Baranski is WONDERFUL! I loved the way she would say, “Cybil” when she and Cybil Shepard did their show–I have been a big fan of hers since! Bring her on–she’s perfect for the over-acted drama that is BETTY!
