Exclusive: 'Greek' cuts a sister (major spoiler alert!)

Categories: Greek

Greekseason2_lGiving new meaning to Hell Week, a major cast-member on ABC Family’s Greek has been pink-slipped. But I have to warn you: This piece of news qualifies as a DEFCON 1 spoiler, as the actress in question figures prominently in a major ongoing storyline. In other words, read on at your own damn risk!

Okay, here we go: Sources confirm to me exclusively that ding, dong the witch is dead. The witch in this case being Zeta Beta beeyatch Frannie, played with wicked zeal by Tiffany Dupont.

Although a rep for the ABC Family hit declined comment, my Greek
mole tells me that Dupont will not be returning as a series regular for
the show’s just-announced third season. The decision, per the source,
was primarily a creative one, although budget considerations were a
factor as well.

Don’t expect Frannie to go quietly into the night though (as if!).
Casey’s arch nemesis will be featured heavily in the second half of
season 2, which picks up on March 30 where last October’s cliff-hanger
left off: With the evil genius going rogue and forming her own rival
sorority, Iota Kappa Iota.

In light of this news, I’m guessing her plan backfires. Either that or
the ZBZ house falls on her during a freak tornado. Actually, scratch
the Greek tragedy theory: I’m told producers hope to bring Dupont back as an
occasional guest star.

What do you think? Sad to see Greek’s answer to Alexis Carrington go?
Or was Frannie’s scheming sister act starting to grate? Sound off below!

I won’t be sad to see Frannie go. She was really starting to get on my last Greek nerve!

  • Bri

While she was a good villian I think it’ll be good to see her go.

  • Anthony

Frannie was one of the best characters on Greek! She definitely stirred the pot every time she was on screen, but I think it will be fun to see her crash and burn in the last half of this season.

  • Eve

YAY!!! She’s a sweet person outside of the show but Frannie is just plain evil! I lothe her… woohoo! serves her right, doing what she did. ALL LAST SEASON! sheesh

Good. While I’m all for a villian, and Frannie could be fun, I think it is time for Cassie to have some new drama in her life. And the more that they used Frannie to be the cause of the drama, the more ridiculous and annoying it became.
Now lets home Frannie’s ousting is a reason to bring back Charisma Carpenter!!

  • Crystal

I’m really curious to see where the plot line goes and I hope Tiffany enjoyed every minute of it. It’ll be interesting w/o Cassie’s Big Sis on the scene but I assume she graduates so it makes sense plot-wise.

    Slow spoiler day, eh?

  • Zoe

As long as it’s not Rebecca. She rocks. Frannie sucks.

Frannie was definitely starting to grate on me. At first it was in that love-to-hate-her way, but then it became that why-won’t-she-just-go-somewere kind of feeling. I don’t have anything against the actress, obviously, but the character of Frannie leaving can mean good changes for the rest of the cast, especially Casey. Let’s see what new conflicts the writers can dream up! :)

  • Erika

I am not sad to see her go. Good riddance! I know that every show needs an antagonist but I really hate her. I would rather someone I love to hate.

  • C

I’m okay with it. I like Tiffany Dupont, but “Frannie”? Not so much.

  • Laura

Frannie really was starting to drive me nuts, so personally, this is great news. I liked nice Frannie, and absolutely abhor evil Frannie. So good riddance!

  • Michael

I wish they’d get rid of Evan instead. Frannie is over-the-top and I just love to hate her, but Evan is now useless. What more can they do with his character? He’s no longer an option for Casey as his trangressions are beyond repair.

Frannie was already a fifth year senior. Keeping her around for much longer would’ve been contrived. I like Tiffany Dupont but it makes sense for her to be let go. I do hope she will guest star on occasion to stir things up, like Charisma Carpenter’s character.

  • cibele

excellent news. I thought she would never leave, the girl was supposed to leave a long time ago. Bye bye. She was annoying.

  • ddpcrackberry

Glad Frannies gone. Her plot to quash Casey was getting old. As old as a thirty year old ZBZ sister. Girl you need to get a job on an adult drama, you is too old looking to be playing a college student. Hopefully Evil Ethan can pick up the slack. CAPPIE RULES!!!

  • David4

We are still on the second season? I didn’t even know that. haha
Then this info is fine, they have time to write her out of the show, I’m getting sick of her anyways.
Plus within the next few seasons, unless it gets canceled, they will have to get rid of a few people who will be graduating. So we should get used to people moving on.

  • ryan

She irked me so much, but that’s what we needed. She’s the anti-Casey. Every hero needs a villain! Come on! But maybe her schtick will have run out and it sounds like she’ll still be around as an occasional guest star. I don’t need to see her every week — maybe that’s too much. And it’s better than them FORCING her into the story.

  • h

    wooooohooooo

  • Cloe

How sad. Not. Couldn’t be happier. Plz tell us now that we’re losing Evan too ;)

  • CSD

She’s the best actress on the show, too bad her character always had to be bitchy.

  • Neil

hahaha Alexis Carrington vs. Frannie? No contest…I LOVED to hate Alexis played by the incomparable Joan Collins whereas I just hate Frannie played by who is she? exactly

  • rachel

thank god. it can’t really be called greek if the soroity house gets split up

  • Anonymous

    love this show

  • Tee

I liked the character and actress but not sure how I’ll feel about the house splitting up. But hard to say though since we haven’t seen how that storyline expands.

  • Anonymous

i liked her in the beginning, but she just got way damn too ridiculous… slash okay in real life, panhellenic would never allow her to do this, not even just create, but join a different sorority after being intiated into a different one, it’s completely against the rules…which is why this plot bothers me so much

  • A

haha i totally agree with the first comment, it bothers me too because its so blatantly unreal that she could just up and go and create a new sorority. plus, i didnt really like her with evan. and shes a 5th year, she should just grad early

  • Kelli

Story-wise, it makes sense. Frannie should have graduated last year and already stuck around to finish her studies. She had to graduate and leave the canvas soon.
