Exclusive: 'Heroes' stages 'Pushing Daisies' reunion!

Categories: Heroes, Pushing Daisies

Swoosiekurtzheroes_lIt’s not exactly a Pushing Daisies resurrection, but I’ll gladly take it (and so should you): Swoosie Kurtz is reuniting with her former Daisies boss, Bryan Fuller, on Heroes!

Kurtz’s spokesperson confirms to me exclusively that the actress has inked a deal to guest star in an April episode of Heroes written by, yep, Fuller himself!

“Bryan wrote the part specifically for her,” says Kurtz’ spokesperson of her character, Millie, an old society friend of Angela Petrelli’s. “It’s a really fun role.”

As of now, Kurtz is signed for one episode, but there’s definite recurring potential — particularly if NBC renews Heroes for a fourth season (as many expect it will).

Heroes‘ Fuller-infused fourth volume, “Fugitives,” kicks off on Feb. 2.

Meanwhile, there’s still no news as to when or where ABC will air Daisies final three episodes — and, in this case, no news is definitely bad news.

Not cool, ABC. Not cool at all.

However, the Kurtz/Fuller reunion on Heroes? Very cool. You with me on both counts? Sound off in the comments!

In all honesty just because Fuller is involved with Fugitives still doesn’t make me think that this show can be saved:( The last 2 chapters were just way to bad. I have given up on the show. Bryan Fuller deserves so much better, I can’t help but think that he only went back to Heroes because he needed a paycheck.

    pushing daisies

If Kurtz is on the show, can she have an eye-patch? In addition, can we bring Greene back too and make them sisters? I hope she gets a reocurring role, if it doesn’t stink of course.

Dear God, enough about Bryan Fuller already! He’s not even a full-fledged producer on the show right now — he’s a “consultant.” He didn’t come swooping in as some kind of savior. He’s not the show-runner. I think it’s questionable just how much influence he EVER had. Get over your man-crush already.

  • Sarah

Sorry Michael but Heroes sucks, no one really cares anymore.

  • Mary

I want to say this is very cool, but really, it just makes me sad.

  • T

Um, yeah Bryan pretty much had a major influence as to how the show ran on the first season (which is the best season) and he wrote the best episode of the series – Company Man. So basically he’s exactly what this show needs to redeem itself if it’s not already too late. And yes, he definitely deserves better and he didn’t do it for the paycheck.

Let me guess, Is Swoosie Kurtz is going to be playing Sylar’s mom? I’ll pass, This show is horrible!

  • Gre

    A big fat “Meh!”
I stuck around for all of Season 2, but nothing seemed to make up for Season 1’s lackluster finale. Like some glutton for punishment, I watched 4 episodes of Season 3, and I realized that the show was beyond repair.

  • Beth

Sorry, but I’d rather have the final three Daisies episode air than have Ms. Kurtz show up in one episode of Heroes.

  • jojo

I’m so sad that Pushing Daisies is getting canceled. There is no way Heroes is a better show than Daisies. TV Sux anymore. (sad)

PLEASE AIR THE LAST PUSHING DAISES EPISODES!!!!!!!!!!! Michael you have to pull some strings to make this happen!!! Don’t they know how powerful you are!

  • Marty McDoodle

Heroes certainly can only get better with Fuller and Kurtz.

  • Jenna V.

what about eli? that has more of a cliffhanger.
    WHYYYY ABC???
i can’t even detest them though cuz they at least brought scrubs back.
but still! at least give us closure for these shows instead of repeats and reality shows. >:[

I wish they would quit trying to act like Bryan Fuller going back to Heroes is supposed to cheer us Pushing Daisies fans up. If anything, it just rubs salt in the wounds. A wonderful creative show destroyed and now he goes to a piece of crap that never was as good as everyone said it was (Better than Lost claims in season 1! Yeah, I knew you’d regret it EW) I hate TV again. It felt fun again starting in 2004. Now exciting stuff is being punished again. Mentalist doing so well doesn’t bode well for those who like taking chances.

Heroes sucks. Swoosie and Bryan deserve better.

no one cares about Heroes anymore.

  • Denise

I was getting that sinking feeling as Pushing Daisies has not shown up on my DVR future recordings list. This is horrible confirmation of that. A clip show of ‘Lost’ next week, ABC? Really? Well, there should be some space in the schedule soon where True Beauty used to be, if there is any justice in the universe. The whole cast of PD should always and everywhere be gainfully employed, but it’s cold comfort.

  • Tex

Forget about Heroes, Fuller should get his a** over to Dollhouse. I’d love to see a Fuller/Whedon mashup.

  • Ace

They should have cancelled Heroes instead of Pushing Daisies. It isn’t nearly as good. Having Fuller not come back until mid-way through this chapter also isnt’ going to help.

  • AD

I love that despite a somewhat lackluster start to S3 Heroes still pulls in a lot of people acting wise and writing wise. That says a lot about the general feeling towards the show. It may be down but it is far from out.

  • Meg

Really, I couldn’t be happier for Bryan Fuller and Swoosie Kurtz, but there is no way that this will help ease the pain of losing the best show on TV (a.k.a. Pushing Daisies; sorry, Lost, you came in second for me). That show was everything a series should be: original, smart, fun, witty, and entertaining. To echo the feelings of a fan on an online website, “Pushing Daisies was the show we never knew we always wanted.” So, so true. The writing was perfect, the directing was perfect, the acting was perfect, the visuals/music/productiion was perfect. There are so few perfect things in life, yet this was one of them. This type of news is the kind that makes me feel upset and sad over losing “Daisies.” I will never, ever, ever forget “Daisies.”

  • Michelle

“Heroes” really did bite the dust back in season 2. The cancellation of “Pushing Daisies” and getting Bryan back over to “Heroes” is really just insulting to the fans. Especially after the way ABC has treated us not not airing the last 3 episodes, not planning on airing, and instead showing repeats of “Scrubs” (which I do like) the following night in it’s place? Insulting is the cleanest word I can use here.

  • JayLeno

Remember when NBC was going to double down and go all in on HEROES? and they were going to have a HEROES: ORIGINS spinoff that would introduce all new heroes, and TV viewers would get to vote on which of these new heroes would win the privilege of joining the cast of the original super awesome HEROES. hahhahahahahahahahaha.
    NBC is lame.

  • John

I’ll be watching just to see that visible “bump” in quality once the Fuller shows start.

  • Noelle

I’m happy for Ms. Kurtz, and I will enjoy seeing her on Heroes. But her appearance on that show does not make the loss of Pushing Daisies any better.
ABC is contractually obligated to air the remaining episodes of PD, so they had BETTER live up to that. If not, I say, shame on you, ABC!

  • Meli Parker

Please! Just write the pie maker into heroes! It can totally work! Everyone loves pie!

  • john t.

funny how bryan fuller tries to keep his cast members close to him. first ellen greene played sylar’s foster mom, now swoosie kurtz. it doesn’t matter anymore, no amount of pushing daisies cast members moving to heroes will make me convert back to the show. i’d rather have 3 episodes of swoosie in daisies than one on heroes.

  • bostonbean

    Swoosie…what a strange name Swoooosie
