CBS’ The Unit is getting bigger!*
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Wes Chatham — best known as Omar Gooding’s token white coiffeur in Showtime’s Barbershop: The Series — is joining the cast in the recurring role of Sam, a new recruit and the most junior member of the team.
Word has it that Chatham will literally hit the ground running: Per a Unit insider, the actor will find himself at the center of an intense Bourne/Bond-style action sequence in his first episode, slated to air on March.
*If you laughed at this, you should be ashamed at yourself.

This better not mean they’re cutting Red Cap out of the show!
*feigns innocence* Laugh at what?
Seriously though .. thanks for the casting news. I think this is a great show – I have been watching it since it first premiered.
I heard President Palmer gets assassinated this season.
Freudian much? The UNIT welcomes new MEMBER? The UNIT is getting bigger? Someone’s horny.
As long as this show isn’t getting axed, I’m happy. Great acting by all cast members especially Dennis Haysber and Scott Foley, who is beyond gorgeous!
Well at least we know he will be recurring. Back when Nicole Steinwedell was announced to star on the show TV Guide said she was a regular and we saw what happened to her…
thats great news I love this cast although I do miss Demore Barnes.
Don’t watch the show, but I am ashamed of my laughter.
Also, there was a Barbershop: The Series? Really?
Now Michael – you know we ALL laughed. And you know you wouldn’t want us any other way !
Heh heh. “Unit…Member”
This is one of the BEST shows on tv. I always feel like it is a classier, modern day McGyver. I am wondering how the ratings are doing now that they have moved to Sunday nights. And I wish they would promote it more to get more people to watch. They are really missing out if they don’t.
What happened to Grey’s love interest? All of the sudden, we are back to missions when I thought he would get a juicy sideline deal with the overprotective uncle in the woods with all the security. What’s up?
Please…..what’s wrong with keeping the unit the way it is?
I just watched this show for the first time. I kind of liked it. I thought Sam did great and added to the cast. He reminds me of Matt Damon.
Does he always leap tall buildings at a single bound?
lame….show just lost credibility by the predictable move of putting a hollywood prettyboy into the unit. This will be the last time I watch…What set the show apart was good acting and realism, a quality which has been sliding this whole season….Now 20yo pretty boy model is supposed to be a military assassin? Come-on….He looks like a Ken doll…
I just watched the unit this past sunday and i think the new member Sam did a great job. I think he will be a good addition to the unit!
responding to andrew’s comment, that’s a shame that you arn’t going to watch the show anymore. it’s a amazing show, and by bringing in a good-looking guy, it’s advertising. it helps bring more viewers. more women will watch it, and not everyone in the military is ugly. there are some very attractive people. just saying.
Way to go sam! great character, i think he will bring a lot to the table.
Read today (May 11) that the new CO in Afganistan is a Delta Force alum.
Hmm. And wasn’t the colonel promoted to Brig. Gen. yesterday?
TV echoing reality?
Hope the show returns next season.
And if plots are snatched from mil reports (as L&O fictionalizes committed crimes) itr should have material to continue into the 2020’s
(decade, not ABC News program).
I watched the first 2 episodes with the new boy, not bad, will take some getting used to but i dont see why they had to kill off Hector in the first place!
i liked the original team best.
Still a great show though!
