Scoop: 'Reaper' returns March 17

Reaper_l This just in: Reaper has a return date!

A spokesperson for The CW confirms that the supernatural knee-slapper will join the net's schedule on Tuesday, March 17 at 9 p.m./ET following 90210. I'm told the show's entire 13-episode second season will air uninterrupted.

And don't freak out, you Privileged few. Rina Mimoun's freshman gem will have already completed its 18-episode run by the time Reaper takes over the time period.

I gotta put in my vote.. Reaper is the first series TV I've watched in a lonnng time. Every episode leaves me laughing and thinking of new directions the story line can take. The story line is predictable, but the amount of twists in the characters relationships will take years to explore. How do we keep this hidden gem on the air??

MysteryGirl Sat, Dec 6, 2008 at 04:27 PM EST

Serioulsy!! they are going to show this wonderful show after the poor excuse of a tv show-90210 the show with walking sticks wearing crappy clothes, those "girls" look like walking paper-cut dolls. They shall fall down a crack on the floor and never be heard from again :)

Sat, Dec 6, 2008 at 02:47 AM EST

Pete: he just said not to worry, Privileged will be done by the time Reaper starts. So no episodes will be cut!
Thank god for that!!! :D

Pete Sat, Dec 6, 2008 at 02:23 AM EST

I love "Reaper," but can someone explain to me why this couldn't air Wednesdays at 9:00 (after the new horror themed reality skein "13") instead of Tuesdays in the "Privileged" timeslot? I think "Reaper" would do better then anyway and this has given the CW an excuse to cut the number of "Privileged" episodes this season. Instead they're showing "90210" reruns on Wednesdays in the peak 9:00 hour. That makes no kind of sense. Thanks again, Dawn Ostroff.

Devin Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 05:01 PM EST

Thanks for letting us know! I was just wondering when this show was going to be on air again. It's such a hidden gem.

Melinda65 Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 01:35 PM EST

Thanks for the clarification on sweeps, Nate. That makes sense, moving it out of the way of the digital change. I love Reaper, so I'm hoping that it does well in the ratings, although I'm concerned that it's airing opposite The Mentalist.

Blue Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 01:02 PM EST

The sweeps periods left for this season are March 5th to April 1st and then again from April 23rd to May 20th. So we will be getting our new episodes more closer together instead of the normal large gap!

AJ Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 12:56 PM EST

To the person who says that Repear gets better ratings than GG & OTH. Nope, you're wrong. Guess again.

Normalman Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 12:54 PM EST

Why isn't this show getting more of a push? This was the one show that got much better after the writer's strike as it merged in a clever ongoing plot with the gang's efforts to hunt down Hell's escapees.

Kate Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 12:46 PM EST

I do have to say, though, putting off until March if I remember my Idol math correctly will be making it start as Idol goes to the one hour format on Tuesdays...so, all you Idol watchers who just randomly clicked on this because Bret Harrison is cute or whatever, flip to the CW during the recap of the performances and you will have a grand ole time laughing and just a little bit of the Lost/Heroes puzzlement (the main questions being, is Sam actually the Devil's son or grandson, are Sam's parents demons/angels, because something is up with them, is Sam actually an angel, and please don't let Michael Ian Black be completely dead and in heaven, I would miss him and Sam needs someone he can be honest with and who gets it.)

bleh Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 12:19 PM EST

hoooray!!! i normally agree with mike with show selections, but i couldn't understand why he doesn't like reaper. it's one of the best shows on tv! i'm sad that PD is a goner but i'm excited to watch reaper again! i hope cw keeps this one. i'm even willing to give up OTH at this point to make room for reaper. OTH has pretty much ran its course.

London Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 11:46 AM EST

I am thrilled about this news but come on CW! why do you put this show on Thursdays? It would be a much better fit to have SN or Smallville be the lead-in then trashy teen shows to be the lead in!

Auds Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 11:43 AM EST

I have a bad feeling this show won't last much longer, especially the poor time slots it keeps giving. It's honest to God the best show on CW, and something surprising that people might not realize is IT HAS MORE VIEWERS THAN GOSSIP GIRL! In fact, it has one of the highest viewer ratings on CW, they just don't want anyone to know that! How about we boot OTH??

David4 Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 10:43 AM EST

And then be canceled the next day.

Oh who am I kidding, it's already dead.

Dragonkat Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 09:24 AM EST

**happy squeal**

AJ Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 08:48 AM EST

referring not referred

I HATE TYPOS!!!

AJ Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 08:47 AM EST

Privileged Fans - Be THRILLED that you're getting 18 episodes because that's a lot more than it should be getting (based on this year's ratings - not referred to quality).

Reaper Fans - Be THRILLED that you're getting 13 episodes because that's a lot more than it should be getting (based on last year's ratings - not referred to quality).

Nate Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 03:45 AM EST

Actually Charstain is correct; for this year March is the sweeps month due to the digital television conversion happening in the middle of February, so the local stations don't want to have to use numbers that are sure to be screwed up by those who didn't get their converter boxes or new sets.

cassi Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 01:38 AM EST

I'm giving Reaper a chance and will see where the story goes but replacing my favorite show is never a good way to get me watching, so keep Reaper on Tuesday CW!!!!

Cs Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 01:30 AM EST

To Jake - Supernatural won't be done with new episodes by March 17th - their season goes until May, so there wouldn't be a slot for Reaper on Thursdays at 9 ;-)
Keep Reaper on Tuesdays - I'm happy as long as Supernatural stays where it is!

B. Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 01:04 AM EST

Glad to hear that it IS coming back. I was thinking about this show the other day when I realized that I missed those funny Halloween ads featuring Satan and the song "The Most Wonderful Time of The Year" Can't wait until this show is back on.

jake Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 12:18 AM EST

Why CW? WHY!!!!! Can't you put this show on Thursdays after the more compatible Smallville or Supernatural? surely they will be going into repeats by then. You want Reaper to go up against the IDOL enforced FRINGE and have 90210 as a lead in. It's like you want it to be cancelled. Please give the devil the chance to shine on Thursdays!

Kim from Texas Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 12:16 AM EST

I am looking forward to this show returning. Hopefully, Sam Oliver (Bret Harrison) will show some more skin this season. When this show premiered, Sam was showing lots of skin.

gloria Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 11:59 PM EST

Just please no more Greg. What was up with that bad actor being on the show so much?

cRAIG Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 11:27 PM EST

Reaper & Privileged are both really good. the CW/WB rarely lack in quality shows, just ratings...

Ree Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 11:00 PM EST

Yay! I love this show. What took it so long to come back? Oh right, its on a channel that prides itself on 90210 and Gossip Girl. Come on, even girls like to laugh! Bring back Sock and the devil!

MelindaB Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 10:29 PM EST

No, Charstin--sweeps is in February. March is March Madness.

superhonkey Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 10:13 PM EST

march??!!! i guess i should just be happy it's coming back at all. smallville, supernatural, heroes, chuck, fringe and this show are just about all i watch on tv anymore. (and pro-football) i'm more concerned about the 90210 lead in. this just doesn't seem like the kinda thing tweenybopper chicks would stay tuned in for. i hope this season the producers fin money in the budget to make satan appear without his Ray Wise outfit on. even if it's just a flash. they had an opportunity in the writing last season (when he toppled an aisle of merchandise on sam) but they didn'td take it. MORE RISKS...please

pj Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 10:08 PM EST

Better late then never I suppose. Though I still would have preferred January. I miss my Reaper.

Sparky Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 09:33 PM EST

What about Privileged getting a full season - the 18 episodes are nt a full season so have they definitely decided to stop Privileged at 18 or is the door still open to that???? I want more Will and Meagan...

Ace Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 09:26 PM EST

I feel your pain Brent, but it is a good problem to have!

brent Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 09:02 PM EST

Triple booked Tuesday! I believe I now have Scrubs, Fringe, and Reaper at 8PM CST on Tuesdays.

Charstin Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 09:02 PM EST

forgot to mention .. March will be sweeps

Charstin Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 09:01 PM EST

Hmmm ... at least the eps are supposed to air uninterrupted, right? And they're not "really" disrupting another show, since it will be done for its season .. so hopefully not ticking off fans of Privileged.. could be worse

Kate Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 08:05 PM EST

March? St. Patrick's Day? That isn't really mid season, it is kind of mid mid season? I hope that everyone who is so anxious for the return will cause the CW to frantically order new episodes and we will have the funny experience of slightly different hairstyles and weight of our favorites in the later, lets save five additional episodes.

Zet Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 08:01 PM EST

March! March? Who thought that was a good idea? I was hoping for January. I love this show, but I'm afraid...

mike hunt Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 07:51 PM EST

lame deserves full season, way to kill a show
