Exclusive: Michael Cassidy no longer 'Privileged'

Privilegedjoann_dlSorry, Charlie-Megan fans, it looks like it's the end of the road for Privileged's unrequited duo.

Michael Cassidy, a.k.a. the Dawson to Joanna Garcia's Joey, is departing the show for reasons both creative and budgetary. He'll make his final appearance in this season's 15th episode when Charlie decides to go back to college.

"Charlie will be leaving town," confirms series creator Rina Mimoun, "but not until some hot and heavy kissing goes down."

Mimoun isn't spilling who Chuckles will be heading to first base with, but, c'mon, read between the lines, people. She does reveal that the door has definitely been left open for Cassidy (whom she calls "a prince") to return next season -- assuming there is a next season.

"Right now, I'm more concerned about Privileged returning for a second season than just Charlie," Mimoun confesses. "If everyone wants both, then I think we have a shot!"

Privileged's recent Monday "test drive" behind Gossip Girl yielded promising results; the show notched double-digit gains over its Tuesday average. Still, the underrated charmer is by no means a shoo-in for renewal, which brings us back to the question posed by Mimoun: Do you want to see Privileged back next season? And, if so, would a season 2 have to include Charlie -- at least in some capacity? Cast your votes below.

I have been waiting and waiting for someone there to hear us out there on CW!! where is privileged??? can we have it back please..don't take it out. this is the only show i watch and have been waiting for. i don't watch all the other shows you put out there except this. when it comes to Supernatural on the other network and Privileged? I would rather watch Privileged. Please bring this show back!! i miss joanna garcia and her hunky model co-star and those two sisters. I have not even miss an episode of it. Even when sometimes it's a replay of the old episodes i would still watch it. I love this show.

Hey! I'm from a small country Estonia, and I have to say that Privileged is one of the best shows ever! It has to return for sure!
And Charlie should definitely come back also! Megan-Will-Charlie is an intriguing triangle :)

Privileged is my absolute FAVORITE show, not just of the new one's that came out this fall, but of all shows. I haven't missed a singe episode, even when my DVR messes up, I still watch it online. I can't wait for it to come on every week. I wish it was on more often so I can get a higher dose of Sage a Rose and Lily and Will and best of all Megan. PLEASE keep it going and give us a Season 2. I am already going through withdrawals cuz I didn't realize the season finale was the season finale and I thought the show was just on hiatus and it was gonna be back after a few weeks, now I find out it's gonna be till the fall and that is IF the powers that be at the CW decide to run a 2nd season. Well, I am here to say that I know at least 20 people that would be DEVASTATED if this show does not come back. And to leave us hanging with that to be continued when you don't even know if there will be another season so we can see the rest of it is just cruel, you have to at least wrap that up before

This show is better than most out there based on the script alone. It has an absolutley amazing cast. Every character is intricate and perfectly played. NEEDs to come back for a second season. Just make more advertisments

i absolutely love privileged!!!!!! it is so funny and insightful at the same time.... it tackles every issue on a teenager, young adult and adult in a very fun, fresh perspective!!! i would love to have this show go up to 10 seasons!!! it is so fun, I really like Charlie to stay but i wish there would be a different storyline for him rather than just being a best friend to megan or a boy friend to mandy, he deserves to have a better storyline and so does will. i hope there would be more new characters that would give this show a whole new twist. hoping for the next seasons to come!!!!!! love privileged!!! i also love the music featured in the episodes, it fits the situation well.

You can not cancel this show! Finally it's not all about high schoolers it is now also about the slightly older girl trying to make her way to womenhood and teach the younger generation how to be a better them without compromising theirselves. I think this is a great show for all to see! I would follow it as I did Dawson's Creek.

This show is awesome. I love that you never know what is going to happen next. Its addicting!!! I would be very upset if they discontinued the series. Its like they cancel all the good ones before they have a chance. Look @ NCIS, it took 6 seasons to become super popular. But anyways awesome show and I hope they keep it on. Charlie is nice to look @ and the chemistry between him and Megan is interesting.

As much as I love Charlie and Megan, I love Will and Megan even more. So that being said, as long as I am able to watch Privileged again for another season, it doesn't matter to me if Charlie is still there or not. When she needs a friend she always has Marco.

Uh, I wish they'd get rid of Will and his smarmy self. I've tried to like him but I just can't. I would be so happy if he ran off to Paris with some model and never returned. I'm sad to see Charlie go but hopefully he will return in some capacity in the future. And if this show doesn't last beyond this season then maybe he can return and he and Megan will have the ending they deserve.

Well I love Privileged, and I think Charlie and Megan have great interaction.. AS FRIENDS. Megan belongs with Will romantically speaking as far as I'm concerned. It would be a step back to bad habits to start dating Charlie. Charlie is the friend, not the lover. Will is the lover and should be kept such. Besides I find Jo Anna Garcia has much better chemistry with the actor who plays Will when it comes to romance. That said, I think Charlie should eventually come back. AS FRIEND ONLY though.

I love Privileged! Finally a show without lawyers, cops, and hospitals! What a nice change! This is a great show and deserves more ad space than it receives! It's smart, funny, and the fact that JoAnna Garcia's character has no inner monologue makes it hysterical and original! The cw picked a winner!!

I just started watching Privileged and I really really like it! So I want it to be renewed for a second season! I think the CW would be silly if they didn't. And I LOVE Charlie! He HAS to come back. And plus he has to be with Megan! They are meant to be and Will is so boring and blah!

Privileged has been a bright spot in a lack-luster slew of freshman series. CW would be insane not to give it a sophomore try. I love Cassidy in the series, and Charlie is one of the few things that keeps Meghan rooted. It'll be interesting to see how Meghan reacts to his departure, but I am really glad Rina Mimoun is keeping the door open for his return. Smart lady! Now hopefully the CW is smart enough to keep it around.

Oh no! I hope the show is definitely back for a second season, because it's a pretty solid show. Meaning, there aren't really any episodes that leave you feeling crappy, etc. (Ahem, GREY'S ANATOMY) But Charlie was one of my favorite characters, so I really hope he comes back. REALLY HOPE.

I mean, ever since the Jacob thing I knew that the character of Charlie was going to be put on the backburner, especially when he got that waitress girlfriend of his. I love privileged. It’s so great to watch. I especially love Joanna Garcia’ part. She is just so fun to watch. I really hope they don't cancel it. I hate getting addicted to shows and then they cancel it. Like hidden palms, that was such a great show and they go and cancel it. This show is great for all ages and it doesn't show scenes with sex, violence or drugs like the other shows out now. It's a great family TV show and it should be kept on for a few more seasons.

I love this show, it is the best new show of the year. We need to keep it on for many, many more seasons. Gossip Girl was not that big in rating in their 1st season, but they kept it and now look at it.
I love Charlie, but I love Meghan and Will together, they just fit and look better together. Hopefully he comes back in Season 2 (which will happen!!!)

I like Charlie, but I don't want him with Megan. I like her with Will. And....POWERS THAT BE, PLEASE RENEW THE SHOW. It's one of the better ones out there and it's fun. I like that Megan is not the perfect girl and she has her flaws, but her heart is in the right place. I can relate to her and I love the character dynamics. And Will is HOT!

I LOVE PRIVILEGED!!!!!!!!!!! ITS AWESOME AND I LOVE MEGAN THE TWINS MARCO RAMI and the rest is all good too!!!! Charlie leaving to college? he'll be back if not megan needs to score other men!!!! PRIVILEGED is funny and drama andsuch good writing and characters its for everyone this show FINALLY!!!!!!!

I absolutely LOVE this show!! I will be SO disappointed if it doesn't come back for another season. I agree that 90210 should be cancelled long before this one! I don't understand why we keep the violent shows on tv. The shows with a lot of inappropriate language and material are kept, but the clean, family-oriented shows are axed. PLEASE KEEP PRIVILEGED ALIVE!!!

My family and I love this show!!! The characters are so different and full of spice. And the storyline really delivers. Please don't cancel. Finally a decent show on tv.

I'd be highly upset if they discontinued Privileged i've been a fan since day 1 and I love this show it went perfect with 90210. I looked forward to Tuesday night! Please don't cancel this show! And bring back "Charlie"
