Who the heck cares who Betty ends up with? First she had Henry, who I liked, then that got mucked up with the baby mama drama - which I really disliked. Then Gio burst forth and I really liked him too - liked that he brought out a side to Betty that made her even more interesting and that he himself was a fresh and interesting character and what do you know? That got mucked up too! Then, season 3, ratings are falling because a) people where genuinely ticked off with Betty's 'decision' and b) no-one really wants to see a show go backwards as they claimed to be by going back to season 1 roots, or whatever, and suddenly the no more romance rule is out and love interests are back in - not only that, but they seem to be trying to copy what had gone before! Don't fix what ain't broke, people! Apparently, the producers are too big to listen to us mere mortals (fans) and hear what we like about a show - we don't influence it, eh? Remind us of that again when you get cancelled.

Yes, Betty deserves to have a relationship.Since, the beginning, Betty always makes the right decision. When she settled for Henry even though he was married,it made Hispanic women look cheap. Gio is totally the guy I want for Betty. Sure, Henry was nice, but he never pushed her like Gio did. He was the one that got her to remember her dreams and enroll in that writing class. They were adorable and perfect for each other. I still think they'd be together if Freddy hadn't wanted to do movies.

As far as Jesse goes, bor-ing. He turned Betty into a cringe-worthy high school girl that I dreaded watching. His song was cute and I think it was a good plotline because, let's be honest, someone like Betty would not get nearly as much male attention in the real world. It might not be right, but it was realistic for him to Amanda over Betty and I for one am glad that they finally included a guy who didn't fall head over heels for her.

If we have to get a 2.0, make it a Gio 2.0. The Henry card has long since been played.

All i have to say is that they broke the mold with Gorham (Henry). There could never be another or a 2.0! I am still wondering why they never really had closure with him...my theory is that maybe Henry (the real one) will be back late in the season. I sure hope so.Henry was so sweet and loved Betty and Betty loved him, and people who bash this character....well, you never really knew him... is all I have to say. And when people say she had a thing with Jesse....hello...were you watching the same show as me? She had a bit of a crush, but nothing ever came of it, heck, Jesse never even knew. As much as I enjoy the drama generated by Betty's love life, I think the core of the show and the source of entertainment of this series is the concept of keeping the family ties into adulthood, and the creation of family-like ties in your worklife and lovelife.

Betty is unique in current television dramas in her tendency to re-create a huge number of work relationships and love relationships that reflect a sort of family member dynamic.

Gio may have been a love interest, but he was also an older brother like mentor to Betty, and Henry was the baby brother character that Betty had to protect.

Daniel is the idealized older brother that has moved away from home, who Betty idolizes not so much as a romantic interest, but as a surrogate family member.

Mama Meade is clearly become a aunt to Betty, with protective instincts, and fondness that does not match the fact that Betty is an employee.

Marc and Amanda are black sheep family that Betty protects. And so forth.

as far as plot is concerned, -christina's pregnancy comes since season 2
-connor being CFO comes since Ugly Berry
-the hole daniel-molly-connor-willie comes since Tornado girl
-amanda being betty's roommate comes since Crushd
-Betty going to YETI is certainly going to continue for a pretty long time, I presume
..there are other plots that I'm certainly missing, but my point is, that the fact that they are developing those plots doesn't mean that they can't develop 'mini-plots' that last a chapter or two, to make thw show more dinamyc and entretaining, and develop the character's personality

Just because Betty isn't a real character, why shouldn't we expect real life scenarios to play out? That's why most people started watching the show in the first place - because they identified with Betty's difficulties and her fish-out-of-water persona. Besides, it's more interesting to see Betty in different adventures and meeting new people. It's realistic, entertaining, and certainly less boring that way. As a matter of fact, I think the writers are doing a better job this season of balancing the entertainment and "reality" factors of the show, like they did in Season one. Season two seemed more telenovela-ish, which I hated.

Carla, I resent your insinuation that the only people who are sensible are those who agree with you. I think you are entitled to express your opinion but I find it very sensible that all the people who loved one of the guys from last year are still angry. They found something they truly enjoyed about the show and it was totally played up last year. We had to endure "Who will she choose" all summer. Then we get this ridiculous and out of character start to season 3. And plenty of people did move on as evidenced by the ratings.
People are entitled to still exprss their unhappiness about this.If you found Betty's love life so annoying last year you should have moved on from the show. And jj, if Betty were a real person, instead of a character in a a telenovela, your comments would make sense. Since she is a fictional character and her actions are written/manipulated by writers/producers, fans have a right to be annoyed when they feel they are being jerked aroud.

I don't think most of us want Gio back just as a love interest. We enjoyed his character. We'd take him back readily, even if he wasn't with Betty. I agree that life introduces many people in one's life, but on a show, it's only as good as its characters and Gio was a great character. And Freddy Rodriguez is an amazing actor.

I'm mostly irritated about this "Henry 2.0" for 2 reasons. 1) We already had one Henry; I don't want to go through another one. 2) This is the FIFTH love interest in THREE seasons. I can't think of any other character on tv who has gone through as many steady love stories as that in so little time. It's scattered and sloppy direction.

If anyone is bitter over Gio--and even Henry--it's because we'd rather see loved, past characters than add on another love interest that isn't going to last more than 10-20 episodes.

As for the immature conversation going on in this thread, anyone is welcome to want no new character, want Gio, Daniel, Jesse, Henry, or Matt.

I think people need to look at this more rationally: In life, you often meet plenty of people - and it's not uncommon for them to come and go, especially with love interests. So, it's not unusual that Betty's going to meet someone new. And it happens through the YETI program? Well, that makes PLENTY of sense. She's thrown together with these group of people who are her professional peers - so why wouldn't she meet some eligible guy in that bunch? See, that's just one natural part of Betty's journey - to experience many things along the way to her dreams. Frankly, I can't understand why some of you fans have a hard time understanding that. This show is not about her sticking to one love interest for the long haul (e.g., Henry or Gio). This show is about Betty working towards her professional dreams while staying true to herself. Everything else is just secondary to that. So, sorry - but I'm going to be blunt: If you only want Henry and Gio, you need to go.

Why does Betty need a love interest at all?? It's much more interesting focusing on her career and family. Focus on your career, woman!
