Sorry, Charlie-Megan fans, it looks like it’s the end of the road for Privileged’s unrequited duo.
Michael Cassidy, a.k.a. the Dawson to Joanna Garcia’s Joey, is departing the show for reasons both creative and budgetary. He’ll make his final appearance in this season’s 15th episode when Charlie decides to go back to college.
“Charlie will be leaving town,” confirms series creator Rina Mimoun, “but not until some hot and heavy kissing goes down.”
Mimoun isn’t spilling who Chuckles will be heading to first base with, but, c’mon, read between the lines, people. She does reveal that the door has definitely been left open for Cassidy (whom she calls “a prince”) to return next season — assuming there is a next season.
“Right now, I’m more concerned about Privileged returning for a second season than just Charlie,” Mimoun confesses. “If everyone wants both, then I think we have a shot!”
Privileged’s recent Monday “test drive” behind Gossip Girl yielded promising results; the show notched double-digit gains over its Tuesday average. Still, the underrated charmer is by no means a shoo-in for renewal, which brings us back to the question posed by Mimoun: Do you want to see Privileged back next season? And, if so, would a season 2 have to include Charlie — at least in some capacity? Cast your votes below.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this show!! I will be very disappointed if it doesn’t return next season. It is quite possibly my new favorite and although I like Charlie I am relieved that the character of Will is still on. PLEASE KEEP THIS LOVABLE SHOW CW!!!!!!!!!
I like Charlie and Megan’s relationship-but I like them as just friends. It’s so cliched to have the bff’s always getting together. He rounds Megan out nicely but she needs more girlfriends in her life.
Michael’s a keeper.
The unrequited love between Charlie and Megan is the main subplot of the show.
Loose the klepto, boyfriend stealing sister character instead. She’s annoying.

I’m actually not that surprised. The show already seems to have trouble juggling all of its cast and since Will is already there as Megan’s “will they or won’t they” guy then there really wasn’t a lot of room for Charlie. But since the show is only doing 18 episodes this year I’m not sure what the point of writing him out in episode 15 was. Does not having him in 3 episodes really save that much money??
Love the show. It constantly gives me that fuzzy feeling. Charlie is like Luke on Gilmore Girls, eventually they must get together, but for now I like Megan with Will.

I enjoy the show; it’s quirky and funny. However, this seems to be bad news all the time – every time I find a new show quirky and funny it gets the axe.
LOVE PRIVILEGED with or without Charlie, but I will certainly miss him.

this is ridiculous. michael cassidy is great, and he really makes the show a lot better. season two should happen, but charlie definitely needs to be there

LOVE this show! I’m tired of getting hooked on fabulous shows that get yanked mid-season or only after 1 season. What happened to the good old days of letting a show grow? Please, please, please, let Privileged live!

AND HOW AWESOME IS JOANNA? Reba to this? I feel like reba was a sleeper but stayed on the lineup for quite some time…(just like veronica mars should have…bygones.)
I really hope Privileged gets picked up! Its such a good show and the writing is pretty snappy, so much that sometimes it feels the void left by Gilmore Girls. Now of course, nothing can ever match up to Gilmore Girls, but its nice to see some good tv. And Charlie….he can’t leave. If and when there is a second season they NEED to bring him back.

I absolutely love this show and definitely want it to come back! I honestly don’t care if Charlie is back or not. There are plenty of hot guys in Palm Beach for Megan to be with, although I DO like Will, a lot!!

I LOVE Privileged!!! It is a great show and HAS to come back for a 2nd season!! Also, I love Charlie and it will not be the same if they replace him with some other actor. Put it on any night of the week and I will definitely watch & DVR it!!!
I definitely want a second season! This show was a real surprise for me, I thought I would get bored quick and the exact opposite happened! I would definitely miss it a LOT if it disappeared!

I love this show and I really hope it comes back for a second season. I definately do hope they hold on to Charlie tho if they do come back. I love him and Megan and would definately like to see where they might go.
