I know we said we weren’t exchanging this year, but I saw this exclusive Dollhouse clip while out shopping this weekend and, well, I just had to get it for you guys.
The set-up: The following scene from the Feb. 13 premiere is the first time we see Echo (Eliza Dushku) wake up after having her memories wiped in the special memory-flushing chair. That leads into a discussion between lab tech Topher (Fran Kranz) and Echo’s handler Boyd (Harry Lennix) about her last “date,” delving into just what being a doll/active means.
Long story short: Coolest. Stocking. Stuffer. Ever.
(P.S. If you’re feeling rotten about not getting me anything in return, here’s what I have to say about that: There’s still time!)

Interesting . . . very interesting.
This show is a fanboys wet dream! Holy crap, I can’t wait! Fox better not drop the ball on this one.
I love the set, I love the concept, I want to love what I saw, but am underwhelmed by what I see so far, but that’s only a couple minutes that features mostly Eliza Dushku so it’s still hard to say. Because it’s Joss, faith must still be kept in Dollhouse.
Thanks so much for the clip! What a lovely solstice treat!
Interesting concept. I’ll certainly give it a try. Certainly more original than Fringe and there is so much they can do.
Sorry, but this has epic flop written all over it. Remember how excited everyone was last year when Amy Sherman-Palladino was doing a sitcom with Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose? Then the bad buzz started, Fox dumped it on Fridays, and it was a massive critical and ratings flop that got canceled in 3 weeks. I see a similar trajectory for this show.
It’s horrible. It could turn out to be a pretty dang good show (this clip makes me a little iffy) but it’s not going to succeed. The time slot is essentially a graveyard where good shows go to die.
“the new moon has made her virgin again…” ahahahahahhhahahaaahaaaaa. what a colossal POS.
CAN NOT WAIT.
Are we supposed to be thrilled by this? Is this really Joss’ brainchild? What a stupid dialogue, and a Nikita-style balcony? No thanks!
Thanks so much Ausiello! I’m already impressed, fantastic dialogue! I really hope Dollhouse (and TSCC) will be able to find its audience on Friday nights. If CBS can do it, why not FOX? I have hope!
I’d rather watch My Own Worst Enemy.
Now the Friday timeslot is starting to make sense. There was no way Fox was wasting a post-American Idol slot on this crap. And don’t believe that nonsense about living in a DVR world and that a good show will overcome a bad timeslot. If Fox thought they had a hit with this, they’d do everything they could to make it happen. This show looks terrible, and I’m guessing Fox knows it.
ok, I am *finally* excited for Dollhouse.
Okay Topher sounded like Warren from Buffy…. that conversation was CREEPY.
Features mostly Eliza Dushka? I’d say it features mostly Fran Kranz. I hope that he’s better in this than the mess that was “Welcome to the Captain.” I want to like this because I love TSCC but I agree with those that expressed ‘underwhelmed’. I hope this isn’t indicative of what’s to come.
I think it would have been better without the soap opera-y background music.
any scoops on Crusoe and Lengend of the seeker?
Have some faith in this show guys
Funny. I thought Fran Kranz was only playing a bad actor in “The TV Set.”
I hate to say this – because I love Joss – this clip was a disappointment. I get that the pilot has more exposition than anyone would like, but this was so on the nose and lame. Topher is super-creepy and unlikeable. Boyd was boring. I thought when Echo doesn’t have an implanted personality she is supposed to be childlike and uncomplicated, not like a stoned airhead. I hope the rest of the pilot is better than this. There are so many great writers on this show it ahs to get better that these scenes, right?
wow people hate the show based on a 1:59 clip? yea wow thats just sad
If this is what they’re hoping will hook people, they’re in trouble. Totally uncompelling and boring with incredibly artificial-sounding dialogue, even by network television standards.
Hey Ausiello, I hope you kept the receipt for this gift …
I love Joss Whedon so I really want to like this show, but my expectations have just dropped. Surely this isn’t the best clip they could come up with to give us a taste of what’s to come? If so, I’m worried.
Why, thank you so much for gift! My only question: where’s Fred???
Well… it looked interesting enough… I’ll check it out.
But Eliza – please add some fat to that body of yours… I don’t enjoy seeing bones where a chest should be.
I don’t know, maybe I’m crazy but I loved it!!! I thought the dialogue was very Joss like. I can’t wait!! (and no..I’m not one of those people that thinks Joss can do no wrong.)
I was more entertained by your latest Ausiello TV clip, and that was just awful. No wonder Fox put this on Friday, that was dumb.
Jeez. A two-minute clip and everyone’s dissected the entire show and how it’s this massive failure already. I’m amazed at your skills.
From just the clip, it looks really interesting and original, and I can’t wait to see the pilot.
Eliza Dushka….BLAH, not interested.
