'Lost' Scoop: Mystery Gal's Secret Revealed!

Nov 16, 2008, 01:24 PM | by Michael Ausiello

Categories: Lost

Reikoayelsworth_lReiko Aylesworth shouldn't have any trouble keeping her trap shut when it comes to the big mystery surrounding her new Lost character, the smart and charismatic Amy. But it's not the gag order imposed on her by Team Darlton that's preventing her from telling all. It's the fact that…well, she can barely straighten out the plot twists herself.

"I know the show, but I have to say, I didn't quite understand everything [the writers] were telling me," confesses the actress, best known for her role as 24's late CTU director, Michelle Dessler. "But it sounds like it's going to be great stuff. I'm just excited to do something other than getting people files and carrying clipboards [like on 24]."

One theory making the rounds is that Amy, who'll be introduced during the show's fifth season (debuting Wednesday, Jan. 21), will be revealed to be someone from the early days of the Dharma Initiative. (FYI: For those playing along at home, the answer to last week's Ask Ausiello asterisk quiz is she's "with Dharma.) That would seem to confirm buzz that Ben (Michael Emerson) transported the island and all of its inhabitants back to the '70s in last May's finale.

At least Aylesworth can say with near certainty that Amy's love life will be complicated. "There's definitely some conflict with the suitors," she teases. Wait a second -- suitors, as in plural? How literal will the show's depiction of the '70s be? "Obviously, we want that to be a surprise," says executive producer Carlton Cuse. " Let's just say her role will be emotional."

Okay, time to put on your thinking caps, Lost fans. If Aylesworth's Amy is with Dharma, and my sources confirm that she is, what purpose do you think she'll serve on the island? What do you think the "surprise" is concerning all the men in her life? And are you as excited as I am to see Aylesworth back on the tube? Comment away!

i love reiko

I think Amy is Charlotte's mother.

The father is certainly questionable, but most likely Amy is Charlotte's mother. She comes to the island to work for Dharma while pregnant, and has her baby like Claire does. Then she dies in the Purge, and Charlotte somehow escapes, only to return.

Reiko plays her roles with aplomb!

You will see a very beautiful face, and a woman with great talent.

Conni Sat, Dec 6, 2008 at 11:44 PM EST

I love, love, Reiko! Extraordinary face, excellent actress!

EricO Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 02:12 PM EST

Ace, that's just not a very good LOST storyline. Back to the work farm for you!

What should a person do to get to Heaven? If you said, "There is no Heaven" or "You just have to live a good life", YOU ARE WRONG. Stay with me and find out why. Let's see if you've been a good person. Jesus said "Whoever looks with lust has committed adultery in their heart". Have you ever lusted? Have you hated anyone(committed murder in your heart)? Have you made a god in your mind to suit yourself(idolatry)? Have you used God's name in vain? Have you ever stolen anything regardless of value? If you have then you’re a thief. If you have told just one lie, then you are a liar and CANNOT get into heaven. On Judgment Day you will be found guilty and end up in Hell forever. But that's not God's will. We broke his Law but because Jesus paid our fine by dying on the cross, God can forgive us. If you repent and trust the Savior, God will forgive your sins and grant you everlasting life. So confess your sins to God today, put your faith in Christ, and obey God. Read John 14:21

I live in a small town in the Midwest (pop. 72,000), and it seems we never get the so-called "sleeper movies." Well...the local cineplex is playing "Slumdog Millionaire" and with all the buzz about this film, something tells me that I shouldn't miss it. I'm going to see it before I blink and it's gone!

ia Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 07:20 PM EST

Maybe the "surprise" with Reiko Ayleworth's character Amy on "Lost" is that Amy dated all the "Lost" guys (Ben, Sawyer, Jack, Locke, Sayid, Jin, et.al.) in the '70's. This would certainly make for some interesting "Lost" flashbacks. We'll just have to wait until Jan. 21, 2009. I've never wished for days to go by so fast since I've become a big time "Lost" fan!

Mary Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 06:14 PM EST

If the island is back to the 70's she kinda sort looks like Kate. What if the woman Kate thinks is her mom isn't and Amy is in fact her mom. The age would be about right. Then Sawyer will be strangely drawn to her.

kris Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 05:47 PM EST

if Ben transferred the Island to the 70's, why would the island disappear? wouldn't it still exist in the same location in the 70's? I think Amy will have something to do with Sawyer.

MattyB Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 05:35 PM EST

I agree with BRY. I'll bet Amy is actually code for ANNIE (Ben's little girlfriend from TMBTC). Ben would one of the suiters, but who's the other? Maybe it's Kelvin Inman or Radzinski, & that's why Ben assigns them to be stuck down in the Swan Hole all those years.

sarah Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 12:54 PM EST

She's dead. Somebody from the present, probably Said (who seems to only like doomed women), will fall in love with her before they realize she's from the past and is, in reality, dead.

Anthony Cantu Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 12:30 PM EST

Loved her on 24. Will be glad to see her on TV again!

Catherine Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 11:12 AM EST

Maybe something with Jack's dad?? He is everywhere!

ADanel Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 10:50 AM EST

Hey, Ausiello, Where are you on the Lipstick Jungle not canceled story? Apparantly Brooke Shields has come out saying that it's NOT TRUE!!!

Joe Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 10:40 AM EST

She's the reencarnation of Ana Lucia.

Lynn Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 10:00 AM EST

I'm so excited! I can't wait for the new season. I loved her on 24.

I was thinking Annie as well, but that wouldn't be consistent with either the 70s or present day (age wise). She's too young to be Annie now, but too old to be Annie in the 70s.

olivia Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 08:47 AM EST

I'm SO excited to see Reiko back on TV! I adored her character on 24, and if Amy's anything like Michelle, I'll be happy. Can't wait for Lost to start up again!

anthony s. Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 01:38 AM EST

to SusieOG:
TONY is back this season on 24. he DID NOT die when michelle did....

so pumped for 24

darren Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 11:30 PM EST

amy sounds suspiciously similar to annie.

Mel Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 10:29 PM EST

She's got the hair to be Rousseau(sp?). Maybe she'll be related to her somehow? (Everyone on the show seems to have contacts somehow).

SusieOG Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 10:06 PM EST

I was a fan of Tony & Michelle on 24, and stopped watching after T died. Michelle's storyline with the virus in the hotel (I forget what season) was heartbreaking. Stoked to see her on Lost!

Stefan Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 10:03 PM EST

well - funny thing - i thought about Annie as well *g*

dom Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 09:57 PM EST

I still don't completely buy that Michelle is dead, on a show like 24, she could easily be brought back. Maybe she survived and they kept it secret for her own protection.

I'm glad to see her on Lost though, in fact, I think she would have been a better Kate.

Lucas Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 09:05 PM EST

you know this is the first I've heard of this buzz that Ben sent the island back in time. and I don't think I like that notion at all. in part because it means there's going to have to be some wild and crazy sci-fi explanation for how Ben is going to get them back to the island. not to mention of Locke went back to the 70s how did he come forward to now so that he could contact them and look exactly the same. cause he sure didn't want for all those years to pass normally. which will be another crazy explanation

LostInTranslation Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 08:09 PM EST

I have a feeling "Amy" is a casting cover for "Annie."

Bry Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 07:55 PM EST

Speculation:

This is the grown-up version of the girl Ben Linus (as a kid) had a crush on.
Just a thought. I know it contradicts the "70's time traveling" shindig, but it definitely works.

Sam Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 06:39 PM EST

If they make her a female character spending all her time with suitors and being a moron like Kate, I will scream. Please let's not get too emotionaI. Anyway, I liked Aylesworth on 24 and it's great to see her on Lost.

Sam Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 06:30 PM EST

I hope they don't make her too emotional. I don't like Lost when it's over-emotional with moronic character. Can we have some characters (especially woman) with brains please???

Melanie Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 06:22 PM EST

In 24 Reiko's character, Michelle, died when her car exploded...her husband was in the second explosion after he ran outside when he heard the first one go off. He woke up at CTU to discover she was dead.

garp Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 06:13 PM EST

She must be Annie! Team Darlton said in a commentary track that Annie would play an important part in the story. I think Reiko is a great choice.

Allan Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 05:47 PM EST

She did much more than clerical work on 24 and really proved herself an excellent actress. Didn't she die in a radiation poisoning and her husband couldn't save her?

t3hdow Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 05:18 PM EST

MICHELLE!

After a few passable though forgettable stints in film (see Mr. Brooks, Alien vs. Predator: Requiem), I'm glad to see Reiko back on TV in a memorable role.

katie Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 04:13 PM EST

She's gotta be Annie then! Ben's childhood sweetheart and maybe she had her eyes on Whitmore? It would make sense wouldn't it?

trazey Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 04:02 PM EST

meh i hate her but i LOVE Lost :)

Melanie Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 03:52 PM EST

I too am excited to see Reiko back on the TV screen. As for her characters role in Lost...well maybe, if the island was transported back to the 70's, she is the mother of one of our castaways. That's if the secret has something to do with her love life...which seems to be the assumption.

Raenoli072 Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 03:43 PM EST

My Hubby And I are big fans from the beginning and Ready to see it NOW!!!

Thom Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 03:35 PM EST

Hell yes I'm anxious to see her. She was the bomb on 24 and I'm glad she's back. I can't wait to see her.

Lizzie Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 03:27 PM EST

I cannot wait for Lost!! It's driving me insane!

sas Sun, Nov 16, 2008 at 02:30 PM EST

Loved her on 24. Can't wait for Lost to start again.
