Ausiello: Don't be so quick to judge. Who among us hasn't gone to first base with a dead ex at least once in our lives? Exactly. 

Question: Okay, I'm officially worried that Izzie really does have a brain tumor and Shonda Rhimes is paving the way for Katherine Heigl's departure at the end of the season. Reassure me, Mike! -- Alex
Ausiello: Hold on, Alex, I've got Shonda Rhimes on the line….She says she heard through the grapevine that I've been flooded with hundreds of e-mails from mostly irate and confused Grey's fans wondering WTF is going on with this bizarre love story between a dead Denny and an alive Izzie….She says she'd like to address Ask Ausiello readers directly via this exclusive statement....

"I think the love triangle with Denny, Izzie, and Alex is among the most interesting we've ever done. Watching the chemistry between Jeffrey and Katherine again has been really touching. I can't wait for our viewers to see where we're taking it. But what it won't involve is Izzie having a brain tumor."

Question: What's next for Callie on Grey's Anatomy now that Hahn's gone? -- Amy
Ausiello: The official ABC logline for the Dec. 4 episode includes this little morsel: "Callie can't figure out if Sadie is just friendly or flirtatious." Translation: Sadie's next for Callie.

Question: Your Office teaser last week leads me (and probably 99 percent of your readers) to believe that a Toby comeback is in the not-too-distant future. How'd we do? -- Kevin
Ausiello: Not bad. Not bad at all. Pretty good, in fact. 

Question: Are you ignoring me? What is the deal with Big Love? Doesn't HBO know that some of us are eagerly anticipating the creepy, captivating antics of polygamists? When is the show returning? -- Jenn
Ausiello: I'm not so much ignoring you as I'm pretending you don't exist. There's a difference. Anywhoo, HBO's most entertaining drama series since Deadwood launches its third season on Jan. 18, and it looks like the Grim Reaper has been elevated to a series regular. My Big mole reveals that there will be at least two significant deaths this season, one of which is so top secret only a handful of people were allowed to witness it. "The scene wasn't on the call sheet and it was shot with minimal crew," whispers the insider. "But it wasn't too hard to figure out what was going on. The screaming was painful."

Question: Please tell us what the answer is to your blind item, "War Declared Backstage at Cult Fave." We're going crazy trying to figure it out. -- Krista
Ausiello: It's not Pushing Daisies. Or Dirty Sexy Money. No more clues.

Ausiello: It's not Eli Stone. Hey, wait a sec, I said no more clues. You tricked me!

Question: Scoop on The Unit? Oh please, oh please, oh please! -- Marah
Ausiello: Okay, Okay, Okay! Two roles currently being cast for a Scott Foley-directed episode hint at big trouble a-brewin': One character's the middle-aged leader of a pack of Chilean monks who tests Jonas' mettle, the other's a younger holy man who cares for an injured-to-the-point-of-dying member of the Unit. (Dying?! Egad! Maybe Jonas' mettle flunks its test?) In any case, maybe neither actor who gets the parts should get too excited: I was directed once by the Felicity alum on his alma mater... right onto the cutting-room floor. I kid, I kid.

Question: There's a Snapple coming your way if you can tell me when Bones will be revisiting the "Gravedigger" plot. -- Joey

Ausiello: You're dying for Brothers & Sister scoop, and I've got Brothers & Sisters scoop about someone possibly dying. It's kismet! A special two-hour episode airing in March will find a member of the Walker clan experiencing a potentially life-threatening medical crisis.

Question: It's almost time for Christmas angst (er, um, cheer?) on House! What's in store for the holidays at Princeton Plainsboro this year? -- Yolanda
Ausiello: A miracle. A true blue spectacle. A miracle come true.

Question: Got anything new on Chuck? -- Laura
Ausiello: Zachary Levi. Naked. In 3-D. On Feb. 2. Kind of. According to exec producer Josh Schwartz, a scene in the blockbuster episode features "Chuck without his pants clinging to the outside of a glass elevator for dear life. I wouldn't say he's naked, but you might see some thigh."

Question: I've noticed that Jeffrey Reiner hasn't directed many episodes of Friday Night Lights this season. He's such a great talent. Do you know what happened? -- Isa
Ausiello: No clue, but he directed Scott Porter's swan song tonight, and guess what? It's a work of freakin' art! One scene in particular, involving Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, deserves to be played on an endless loop at the Museum of Television and Radio. Definitely one of my favorite Coach-Tami moments to date. Spoiler-wise, someone suffers a heart attack, Tyra makes what could be the biggest mistake of her life (and that's saying something considering the mess she got herself into last year), and Matt comes up with a surprising solution to his QB problem.

Question: You are seriously lacking when it comes to NCIS anything.  Give me something. Now! -- Kirsti
Ausiello: As you may have heard, there are some dark days ahead for Ducky. But how dark are we talking? Pretty damn dark! Executive Producer Shane Brennan reveals to me exclusively that the Duckster gets stabbed in an episode airing early next year. The incident will launch David McCallum head first into a powerful story that reveals a side to Ducky no one knows about -- not even Gibbs. "David puts in an astonishingly powerful and moving performance in this episode," raves Brennan. "It's a story I first talked about with David almost two years ago. It's been a long time coming, but well worth the wait."

Question: Both Brooke Shields and Kim Raver are insisting that Lipstick Jungle is not canceled. What are you hearing, wise-and-all-knowing-TV-guru? -- David
Ausiello: I'm hearing the same thing I did a week ago: NBC won't be ordering any additional episodes beyond the 13 it originally commissioned. Nothing has changed.

Question: Please tell me there's going to be a 9th season of Smallville after what is possibly one of the best seasons so far? -- Joanne
Ausiello: I hear The CW will likely take the don't-fix-if-not-broke approach and keep its Thursday line-up intact next season. (Attention Smallville fans: Scroll down to the bottom of this column and watch an exclusive preview of Chloe and Jimmy's apocalyptic nuptials!)  In related news, there was a wild rumor going around last week that Supernatural received a green light for a fifth season. The network quickly squashed it, but, man, for about 30 minutes last Monday I thought Christmas had come early for all you Supe Nazis.

Question: Just wanted to thank you for the wealth of Supernatural scoop this season. You rock. It's so great to know my favorite show's getting some buzz. Keep it coming! -- Stephanie
Ausiello: In a February episode, the Brothers Dubya get put under a spell that forces them to beat the living daylights out of each other and confront their true feelings. And in exactly that order.

Question: Why, oh, why did The Ex List get canceled? -- Lily
Ausiello: Elizabeth Reaser is asking herself the same question. "I don't quite know what went wrong," she lamented at Monday's Twilight premiere. "Not enough people watched it, I guess, is the simplest reason. I was having a good time on the show. I liked the idea of the show. I never quite understand how ratings work or time slots or how they make the decisions to cancel a show. It is very hard for a new show to survive these days unless they are a blockbuster hit from the pilot. But I really don't know what went wrong. I am at a loss and disappointed and I think everyone on the show and involved in it felt the same way. But we aren’t alone. A lot of shows have already been canceled." The good news? Ex List will complete its 13-episode order with an eye towards international sales and a DVD release. "I'm still shooting the show, which is odd," she admitted. "The scripts have been rewritten to give [fans] some closure. [Bella] will figure out which ex is the one. I do find the guy, and it's someone we met in an earlier episode."

Question: Can you verify that Aaron Pierce is returning to 24 this season? -- Yong
Ausiello: I can. A Fox insider says Pierce is back for "multiple episodes."

Question: Anything on Rescue Me? It's bad enough that I have to wait until 2009 for the new season, but to make things worse, I can't seem to find any spoilers for it. You'll be my new hero if you give me something new. -- Joanna
Ausiello: There's a new Probie in the firehouse -- and it's someone we've met before.

Question: I love Medium. Is it ever coming back? -- Kendra
Ausiello: It's returning in January, and here's some exclusive casting scoop to tide you over: Hugh Laurie's onetime House nemesis, David Morse, has booked a two-episode arc as the owner of the shady company that employs Tracy Pollan's character. Speaking of Medium, NBC has upped the show's episode order from 13 to 19.   

Question: Any Nip/Tuck scoop? I'm sick of waiting for the new season to start! Thanks! -- Aimee
Ausiello: Sounds to me like someone's headed for the slammer. The show's searching for a Chris Meloni type to play a hardened convict with a nasty habit of knocking cell-blockheads together and a would-be Cuddy to play the corrupt prison warden.

Question: Any Heroes scoop? -- Diana
Ausiello: Everything I'm hearing tells me the show will turn a corner with "Fugitives." One thing is certain: It will be a lot easier to kept track of what's going on. According to an NBC insider, "They're changing the style of storytelling. Instead of five or six stories to follow, there's more like three or four. It's like the first season in many respects."

I was wondering in the episode of Chuck wherein Chuck discovers that Jill is a fulcrum agent when Casey gave him the code name "Sandstorm" and then he flashes..why did not chuck have a flash when he first saw Jill in the conference..we all know that Jill is in the intersect because she is fulcrum..

I loved Denny and Izzy and wished he had lived so they could have had a story line together. However, this "ghost" story line is just too strange.

Now, after tonight's show, I thought she may have a tumor or something but I read above that's not going to be the case. Be that as it may, however, I guess they're telling us she IS going to probably die or come close to it at some point. I will be interested to see how this finally plays out. I have been getting rather tired of Denny just popping in and out at will like that!

Sheesh, Ducky gets stabbed on NCIS -- AGAIN? This already happened in a show about an Afghan woman (I think) who thought Ducky had killed her brother in a torture session over there. Why don't they do more with super-cool Israeli Ziva?

Well I am currently taking a Psychology class and we just finished talking about mental illnesses and my professor said that Izzie is showing signs of Schizophrenia! Time to KILL OFF IZZIE STEVENS & DENNY. Shonda needs to get back to the BASICS! Get rid of POINTLESS characters! ADD MORE DRAMA to the show that's meant to be DRAMA in genre! GET RID of the army doctor and the asperger's doctor! SERIOUSLY!! The stories are all over the place and its bearing striking resemblance to SOAP OPERAS where all the stories are parallel to each other and everyone is related to everyone. IT'S VERY BORING! *FRIENDS* survived for 10 years with top ratings because of EXCELLENT writers, MINIMAL characters/guests & BASIC, clever storylines.

How do yo knw most pople hatedGizzie because the eople you know did? Even the official Grey mag who wet all ovr th Internt said they found as manyGizie fans as haters. The only way to know is the rings and the ratigs sarted to fallright after episode 4.7 when it was obvious Gizie as going to end.

They got a lotbetter ratings than Alex and Izzie an that says it all.

I was willing to accept George and Lexie ecause they are so similar, although inferior to Gizzie but it seems the writers are hell-bent on the gross father and daughter Mark and Lexie pairing

Why did ps3 bring lana back. she and clark have no chermisty and are boring. This season has been so good without the angest drama she brings to people's lives. I miss the show "Moonlight" This vampire was HOt! Even though, it was taken off the air. Every time we get a handsome, sexy vampire that not only appeals to the younger set, but, also the the seniors over 50, POW! they're gone. Let's get this show back too TV. Sue - it takes months to cure c.dif with antibiotics (and it is often months of agony and the cure doesn't always work) whereas that "disgusting" cure works in days, alleviating suffering so much faster than nice and neat antibiotics. The cure is real but many hospitals still refuse to do it because too many doctors and administrators are "grossed out."

Denny and Izzie really are not an epic love story. They spent all of a few good weeks together and were engaged for less than 24 hours! How in the hell can you be epically in love with someone you barely know? I'm beyond pissed that Denny is haunting Izzie. Wake up Shonda, Alex is a REAL person who really loves Izzie. It's time for Denny to die for good.

I was so sad when the Ex List got canceled! I know I may have been the only one, but still. I thought it was hilarious, and I can't wait for the DVDs.

I wonder what this "true blue miracle" Ausello is talking about is. Probably something House and Cuddy related, since he's be a Huddy shipper from the start. I'd like to see even more development in the Chase and Cameron storyline, since I'm just beginning to like it after being a Hameron shipper for years.

The "most interesting" love story on Grey's? Yeah, for a necrophiliac! It's just *eww* for me.

However, what I think is almost worse is the idea of Sadie - "WTF is Melissa George doing here" - getting it on with Callie. Poor Callie - throw the girl a good story line already!

Grey's has had consistently crappy storylines since season 3 with Meredith seeing all the dead people, since then NOTHING on that show has been good. Gizzie never flew for me, (or the majority of the fans not matter what you Gizzie people say, most people did NOT like them) Callie/Erika was worse with the majority of the fans not liking them either, people are starting to hate MEredith and Derek who are supposed to be the stars of the show and everyone is getting tired of Denny-the-undead. I don't care how much Shonda Rhimes loves Denny she is costing the show to bring him back, it all started with the first time she brought him back in Meredith's comatose state....it's ending with her bringing him back in Izzie's delusional mind.

Any bets as to when Grey's will be canceled?

Izzie can have disorganized schizophrenia, which is characterized by visual and auditory hallucinations. Onset for schizophrenia is typically when the patient is in his/her 20's, so that's always a possibility.

The only real question about Grey's at this point is when do they introduce Meredith's precocious 9 year old half brother who gets himself into wacky situations? I think that may be the only way to sink this show faster than the Denny ghost.

Izzy has been in a coma all this time and nothing thats happened really happened. Can you imagine starting over again.

1. No George and Izzy
2. No George being married
3. No Denny dying
4. No merrdiths mother dying
5. no alot of things, man its a way to wipe it clean, start over and have denny still alive.

Exactly, the ratings were at their worst when Alex and Izie reunited this season. So much for the couple everyone loves. I am not surprised, most people I know in real life are either Dizzie or Gizzie fans and hate AI. Internet peeps are just a fanatic minority. Shonda and the critics are just too stupid to get that.

Maybe the erason she brought Denny back is he brings the ratings up. Let's face it, Alex and Izzie didn't seem to do wonders for the ratings, LOL.

I quit when George and Izzie ended, but I did watch the last two episodes because after George and Izzie, Denny and Izzie were my fave couple.

I did puke a little when AI kissed but thankfully she was mostly with Denny.

As soon as Denny leaves, I am gone again. I just can,t stand AI and the way they are treating MY George, no way will I stand that.

I really loved how the Gizzie haters try so hard to make us stop loving Gizzie or convince us they are such a bad couple, yet it doesn't seem to e working, is it?

I also wonder if AI is oh so popular and GI is oh so hated, why the ratings were better when GI was a couple and started going down right after they broke up, before the strike even happened, and why they went even more down when AI finally got together as their fans say?

Could it be because the AI fans watch for the whole show but the GI fans watch just for them, and maybe just maybe they are not as vocal but they are more out there than the spamming AI fans?

After all, AI fans mostly come from TWOP and ABC and everyone knows that a lot of people there have multiple accounts to make it seem the things they love have more fans than they really do.

It has been months, GI isn't even talking, all the critics are against us, yet we still love them.

I think that says it all.

George is such a mess of a doctor that we learned last season that he had the most letters of recommendation of all the residents, that he was the only one able to get through that little boy in episode 4 this year, when Mer could only yell at him, that he is the only one Hunt was impressed with when they worked on the pigs, that he was the only one who stayed with Stan while the other were busy stealing corpses and cutting themselves. If you ask me, he is the only character that I would go to if I needed a doctor right now and the only non-insane person.

No it is not clear to me that Gizzie was a failure or that they were ackward, the 1072 people who signed the petition stating how much they love Gizzie would disagree with you, their 359 fans on Fanforum too and all my friends who actually watched the show just for them and now have quit.

If Gizzie was such a failure, the ratings wouldn't have gone down when they ended.

OMG. I cannot believe the Izzie/Denny thing, it's SO freaking irritating. I'm a huge shipper of Alex/Izzie and now that they're finally FINALLY together, the Grey's writers are ruining it again and AGAIN with the one person that made me hate Izzie for a whole freaking season. I wish the dead would stay dead. This is NOT a Supernatural show, nor sci-fi, so wtf is a dead person doing ON IT?!

I'm so mad right now. I wish it would have been a tumour, so that it could have been taken out and made Denny leave forever. The only thing that would make sense now, is if it were some kind of mental illness I suppose. I can't believe Izzie will hurt Alex again. It's just freaking typical. I'll never get my ship, while all the Mere/Dere shippers (I hate Meredith and Derek) get what they want.

Izzie better have some type of something going on in her brain to make this story line redeem itself. It's weird as hell. For the first time in awhile, I'm REALLY loving Christina's storyline. The Burke thing was starting to kill it before he got the boot. Meredith and Derek have calmed down a bit which I like...Lord knows how long that will last. They're still my favorite. :) Anyways, get Izzie on some meds and into Alex's bed. That's all.

Grey's is what it is because it crosses lines...they do the unexpected...they make you think...they make you love a character one day and hate them the next. Everyone shouldn't be so hard about the denny thing...he's a very hard character to say goodbye to and he really brings the best out of izzie/katherine heigl...there aren't many other people on that show that could pull off these scenes, which makes sense why she won the emmy for the season that included the whole denny story arc

This isn't a shock and isn't a surprise...denny has been threaded in this show ever since he left...not only when he showed up when meredith saw him, but regarding izzie...because she is still grieving...i for one have no idea where this is going, but this is the most interested i've been in grey's in too long considering its a favorite of mine...they hit a lull and i finally remember why i love this show and stick with it

I think there is a serious problem with Greys if they are ripping off a story from General Hospital. When Emily died last year on GH Nik saw her and kissed her and touched her for like a year even though she was dead he could see her. They didnt know what to do with the story and he ended up with a brain tumor. There are really only 3 options for this storyline 1) She has a brain tumor (they say she doesnt) 2) She has gone insane, and 3) She is being visited by a ghost/angel. None of these are a good direction for the show to go in.

For crying out loud, does every mention of Grey's have to be about "Gizzie" fans trying to state as loudly and obnoxiously as they can that their ship was the best and nothing will ever be the same? Sigh. For the record, I am not an Alex/Izzie fan (Alex/Addison fan who pretty much couldn't care less about Izzie), but I am so tired of hearing the Izzie/George stuff over and over.
Yes, you are perfectly well within your rights to love the pairing and to stop watching (as I slowly stopped watching after Martin/Samantha ended and Jack/Samantha got back together on Without a Trace). I don't agree with you (issues with adultery and with Izzie not having enough time to get over the "love of her life"), but I think the world would be a boring place if everyone agreed about everything. I just wish you wouldn't constantly throw it out there. I get it, but please stop. Please? I really don't think all of this spamming does much more than irritate others. (I know, I know, don't feed the trolls.)

the only time george has even got airtime in the past two years is because of failing his intern tests, dealing with his mom, to get "revenge" from callie, or to be made fun of for still being an intern....all fallout from "gizzie". Now he is pretty much a joke of a doctor, has no storylines, and doesn't even talk to izzie anymore (maybe because of their stupid mess of a failed relationship). I don't get why it is not blatantly obvious that izzie was terrible for george and ruined everything for him. "gizzie" (i can barely stomach typing that) was over before it began, the characters have moved on so should you!

I was telling an AI fan who is a fan of the GI friendship I don't get why people can't get along and fight over fictional couples.

Now I love GI, Gexie, DI and hate AI, but I sure don't hate their fans.

What I care more about is making sure Shonda knows I love TR and George and don't want him to go anywhere. I love him a lot more than any ships, including BGL.

The couple Ausiello is talking about is Foreman and Thirteen. Foreteen is their "shipper name." (Proponents of particular character relationships are called "shippers." When they give the two characters a joint name, such as Foreteen, Huddy (House + Cuddy), Gizzie (George + Izzie), Clois (Clark + Lois), et cetera, it's called a "shipper name.")

OK first of all I am a Gizzie fan and all, but don't get how we ae to blame for George uttering one line. Last I checked, many couples were dropped on this show or not perceived as popular and the characters were just put in a diferent story. Like George and Callie. Callie got plenty of airtime after that.

Also, it seems that even the haters of the George and Izzie romance love their friendship and miss it.

I'd say 95% of the people miss this friendship and want it back.I know, I have seen plenty of I hated Gizzie as a couple, but I adore their friendship comments.

As for the couple, yeah they had haters but they do have their very big share of fans and like several people mentioned, the ratings were higher when they were together, and a lot of their fans did stop watching the show.

I didn't but only because I love George. He doesn't get a story soon, ad I am done for good.

What I find funny is some people keep claiming everyone hated George and Izzie as a couple but talking with people on the street and going on different boards, I have found as many people or more that loved them and still do months after. Now that is loalty. Not to mention the very interestind fact the ratings started to go down when they were ended.

The lack of George airtime happened the last three episodes, Gizzie ended months ago. Izziehas huge airtime too.

I don't think one has to do with the other.

I do think it has a lot to do with some anti-gay people who want George to be gay just because TR is and because of it, refuse to acept him with any female character.

I think it is stupid because readng the comments over the Internet, George is very loved and peole are one oo happy about his vanishing actespecially since it is happening right ater Brooke's firing.

"Chris" guessed earlier that the "ghost" is really Alex, not Denny. I think that makes a heckuva lotta sense, and it goes along with Shonda calling it an Izzie/Denny/Alex triangle (all three are involved, no?) and the fact that Izzie won't be having a brain tumor, AND the fact that the tease for tomorrow's episode has Izzie and "Denny" sleeping together. Makes perfect sense to me, and it keeps Shonda's writing skills from getting completely trashed by all who watch!

rewatch grey's season two. alex cheated on izzie because he really actually liked her but he was having "performance" issues and needed to regain his pride, she never knew this so she wrote him off until the bomb episode...then they were happy until...denny came back, remember the cupcake scene? the only reason alex was rude to denny is because he knew izzie would get too involved.....he has to be dead, bailey took him to the morgue
